Nice to see that second clearance. A lot of the time in coaching videos they'll pretend those kind of frames never happen
That’s why we left it in. We have some more coming up that don’t quite go to plan!
I second that. I'm always having to reroute, so it's nice to see how a champion does it.
Love this Mick , Like previous comment like the fact you leave this in as plenty of times you go on these coaching videos and you can tell they have been edited which then questions your own game in practice, class work
Love to see this sort of video - sometimes I think you learn a lot more from a walk through like this as you get to understand the thought process behind the clearance.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Reassuring to see even such an advanced player as yourself has to change plans running a rack, and use potting skills to get yourself back on track. I have that problem, my position just goes a fraction wrong and I’m looking for another potting opportunity to keep it going and save me lol
Another banger Mick many thanks. I really learn from watching your videos and that second clearance was off the charts 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great to hear!
I love how it fell apart in second frame, we're scrambling now ! thanks for the fun video mate
Not all frames are perfect so we wanted to show when things didn’t go to plan.
FIRST FRAME
How about playing the red to the center as an opening shot to cannon the yellow out, which will push the other red out.
Then you take the red on the top right corner pocket, then left middle, then the one you've cannoned out to the top right corner to set up for the one down the rail (to the bottom left corner pocket), then play bottom right corner for the blackball🤔
Try both ways and let me know which you find easiest.
@@mickthemachinehill I'm curious to know which way you'd find easiest.
Nice job Mick. I see the pattern quick enough but nearly always end up having to re-route. I'll still play you for a tenner though. (I'd probably lose but it would be a cheap lesson for me).
Who knows. Maybe one day.
Very helpful enjoy how simple you make the game seem
Its like the balls have a different kind of respect for him because he's a multiple world champion😂
when we land in a bad position we get total snookered 😅... Great video, always informative!
Thank you Mick, really enjoyed that. Was good to see how the second frame developed and how you worked it out
Glad you enjoyed it
Interesting frames!
As ever awesome content. Love this style of video. Please keep up the great content. 🙏👏👏👍
Thank you! Will do!
Mick I was always curious, being there's no better pool player out there could you reveal what cue you use, specs as in weight, type of wood, tip size and any other info you have, and also the other big guns like Melling, Potts etc. Maybe not comment here but maybe material for a future video. Cheers pal.
We answer it in the next video that’s published on the 4th.
Great video as always Mick! really started taking onboard the importance of natural angles in my snooker and pool recently and it's paying off it seems! if you don't mind me asking, what sort of tip do you use out of curiosity?
Next video covers that question. Out on the 4th.
Great videos love the in depth commentary for the advance players.
Quick question tho, do you always try and get a good cue ball with the black shots just to take abit of pressure off the pot, or just pot it controlled. I try and put the white awkward for opponents even if it makes black slightly harder, sometimes I do miss because of this but feel it is playing more of the percentages for match play situation.
You have to back yourself. Having a good cue ball will make the pots easier. Depending on the match situation you may have more pressure on the final 8 ball so making it easier will help.
Cheers for the reply, I meant more about where the cue ball will finish after the pot on the black, do you 100% go for pot and no too fussed on where the white finishes or try and get a safety in mind kind of shot
Love the content youre producing. Shame youre not in the west mids anymore for some lessons
Will be back, but currently doing a lot of travelling. Contact through Facebook for availability. 👍
The shot at 4:50 , I noticed you played with bottom left whereas I would've played top left to try get the outcome that you got. Your cue ball landed perfect but mine rarely does. Have i been playing it wrong all this time or is it a negligible difference?
Great vid by the way, good insight
Why not try the both approaches when you get chance and let us know how you get on with your findings. 👍

Hi Mick great channel. Did you use 8 o clock on your last yellow because you can pot it straight as well? Is that something you’d recommend
To get two cushions and better position on the 8 ball
In the first finish on the final yellow, is there a reason for playing 8 (or 9) o'clock on the cue ball rather than 10-o'clock and letting the natural rolling action of the cue ball take effect there?
Playing below-centre there feels like it could be a bit prone to a deacceleration?
Try recreating and doing both. Let me know how you get on.
@@mickthemachinehill just given this a go and, when I got through the cue ball well, the 8-o'clock shot killed the cue ball much better than the 10-o-clock shot, so pace control felt much easier.
That said, because of the draggy nature of it, I found I missed the pot and/or decelerated more with the 8-o'clock shot.
How can I deal with that? In a situation where it's this yellow and black for a big money match pot, or a deciding frame in a big comp, how do you ensure you don't decelerate on the shot?
My thinking needs work, didn’t see color to take or the pattern until you played it then it thought it was obvious
Hi Mick, slightly unrelated question but what length is your cue? And tip size? Many thanks
This is answered in the next video released on the 4th.
@@mickthemachinehill super thanks Michael
Can we have some safety shots pls Mick
Great suggestion. We will add it to the list of topics to cover. 👍
Mick can i ask a cheeky question ?my two favourite players you and melling, but You at your best against melling at his best do you win ??
I’ll leave that question for you to answer. 😏

I think i know mate #machine
Really loving these videos. However im sure there are lots of players who dont have access to the tables /cloth/balls that break as nicely as in the pro's.
Be good to cover situations where the break is poor to average and you have a 4ball cluster to deal with etc. and how to approach that.
We have some of that already film and released shortly.
I struggle seeing the patterns. I get the logic of thinking of last ball but aside from that I end up getting overwhelmed with all options
Hopefully the more videos on patterns we put out will help.
definitely. keep up great work pal@@mickthemachinehill
Can you be my pairs partner in our local league this year?
How much you willing to pay me per appearance? 😜
😂
You make it look easy Mick, but we all know ii's not... Nice to see how your brain works when things don't go to plan.(class act)🎱
Thank you. It’s important we show the imperfections.
Do you ever miss a pot mick? 😂
Some videos coming up that don’t quite go to plan. Important we show these too.
Sound not great on this one
Yeah, we wasn’t going to publish it due to the mic issue, but we felt that they were just about watchable.
