    You often hear people say that you shouldn't play side spin in pocket billiards.
    But if you understand some of its laws, its use can be quite useful.

    Side spin
    Side spin, also known as English, primarily influences the cue ball's rebound angles off the cushions. It can significantly alter the direction the cue ball takes after hitting a cushion.
    Additionally, side spin can affect the object ball's direction due to throw effects, which can be utilized to make shots that would otherwise be impossible.
    Moreover, side spin can transfer to the object ball, affecting its path and potentially enabling more complex shots.
    It's also noted that high side spin can cause the cue ball to dig into the cloth and slightly increase the rebound angle, while low side spin can speed up the cue ball on the out angle.
