It's amazing Henry the 8th spent so long trying to have an heir when he had the perfect one in Elizabeth, She reigned 4 decades and displayed a lot of wit and intelligence
Well he didn’t know that, was I king separated from civil war and had his brother die young putting him somewhat surprisingly on the throne. He went extreme but the core reasons are there.
it was a very turbulent time in British history and he wanted a son to both carry on his lineage, but more important probably to him, a son he could teach to go to war and lead a resistance against the French and others, but also, to create a strong, stern King that could keep law and order back home in the UK, too. there is some logic to his thinking, if you apply values from his time to it that all said, yes, we seem to have much better luck with Elizabeth monarchs than we do with Henry's here in the UK, lol. plus, Elizabeth I wasn't so fat when she died that she exploded from a build up of gases!!
I think Elizabeth had learned from her older sister. Mary let her rough experience twist her up into a psycho megalomaniac. I noticed that Elizabeth showed more resilience in spite of her rough experiences with her father.
Queen Elisabeth I was an extremely strong woman, facing significant adversity at a time when women were underestimated. Despite the difficulties women still face today, it is impressive to imagine the challenges she had to overcome. However, Elisabeth I went further and had a transformative impact on England and history.
I think all 3 of his children had the potential to be great monarchs. Elizabeth was the only one who actually did it, partially because her brother was too sickly & her sister was too inflexible. Both had reasons for being that way, & Elizabeth wasn't free of those traits, she simply found ways to overcome her limitations. We should learn from her example, rather than disparage her family.
Really enjoyed the factual video presentation. Moreover, enjoyed the smooth and confident presentation by Karl. Late response, timeline across the pond from Austin, TX. Thanks!
Karl!! You've totally hit your stride as a host! Simon-enough to keep the channel's vibe, but different enough that hosting feels like it's YOURS. Love Simon's work (Decoding the Unknown = ❤), but I hope you stay on hosting this. Enjoying it loads! 😊

I can see why Elizabeth wanted to avoid marriage because had some pretty messed up influences in that area. Even when she had a great maternal figure in her stepmother, Catherine parr, even that stepmother let her down when she married that creep Thomas Seymour.
That passport is actually kind of neat. My son here in Canada was in the same boat but his has an issue date of September 7th. The day before she died.
Ironic that henry VIII long sought after son (Edward VI) died young and his second daughter brought forward s golden age and became the nations Greatest Queen! Long live Good Queen bess! Suggestion: Ferndinand and Isabella the catholic monarchs
Greatest monarch to be honest besides William the conqueror. Never again until Hitler would England find itself facing invasion and being conquered and absorbed
Canadian passport has much the same language, but also more detail, not just "Her Majesty" but "Her Majesty The Queen". Mine expires in 2 years, will have to hang onto this one after it expires as it will be my last referencing Queen Elizabeth II.
Y'all should do a episode on Lillian m. Gilbreth. She raised 12 children alone, while at the same time was an early motion/time management in the early 1900s.
The day before i saw the first Biographics video with you, i met a local man named Kyle Smallwood . I asked myself, "Really? Is that really his name?" and you said, "That's really my name!" as though you were answering my question. Im still quite amused when you explain your name so thoroughly-- thank you!
It was her faith and she was chosen to lead her army to fight against Spanish Armada. It is evident in her quotes. When people die they not only leave traces of DNA but also writings that states "I was here." TH-cam is a great channel to leave a mark.
I’m aware that there's a possibility that not be comfortable talking to a stranger who approached you here, so I totally understand if you don’t want to reply. If this is the case, I thank you for reading this, and I sincerely hope that you can take my compliment. But if you’d be interested in talking, I would love the opportunity to just chat. If you don't mind.
So, not only do we have to sit through a minutes long promo speech about the channel sponsor (which can be skipped over at least) but we are stuck with youtubes invasive and annoying ads because "they say so". Our viewing interest just doesn't matter anymore if they can make money off it. And yes, I know you can skip or mute most of their ads, it's still a nuisance and interrupts the flow of the videos. Or we can give them more money and subscribe to their happy little "TV" experience.
Hey everyone! Scriptwriter Ben here, I hope you enjoyed this video! If you'd like to learn more about Elizabeth I, I highly recommend "The Life of Elizabeth I" by Alison Weir. Thanks for watching!
Can I make a request? I'd love to see you guys do a video on Sir Nicholas Winton - especially since there's now a film out about what he managed to do in Prague just before the Nazi invasion
Toni Morrison Jim Henson Carl Jung Langston Hughes Zheng He Zora Neale Hurston James Baldwin Princess Margaret Princess Anne Jerry Siegal & Joe Schuster Charles Schultz
Prior to Henry V111 wanting a divorce there was only Catholicism so Mary thought she was doing the "right" thing reverting the country back to Catholicism. Elizabeth knew by the time of her reign that it was politically expedient for the sake of the country's coffers to appease both sides. That's about the only time you'll get any religious tolerance 😢

He just liked executing people in very sadistic ways
So true. But men back then were even more misogynistic than they are now.

She wasn't a male
"I would rather be a beggar and single than a queen and married." -- Elizabeth I

tbh if the men didn't like her she couldn't do anything ti protect herself as she has to rely on men.
A great queen who literally defined an age. Also man Henry VIII really messed up when you think about how Only one of of his kids was a great monarch

Not only did she save England from invasion but she made James her heir and thus united 🏴 and 🏴
Suggestion: The transition from having Elizabeth II's image on official documents and currency to placing Charles III image on them.
Suggestion for… what?

Elizabeth the 2nd might have been more loved.
Different times, different love.
You make a biographical video about Norman Birdwell the author of Clifford the Big Red dog!

So one queen persecuted protestants and another persecuted Catholics in back to back reigns. Was a little religious tolerance too much to ask for?
Prior to Henry V111 wanting a divorce there was only Catholicism so Mary thought she was doing the "right" thing reverting the country back to Catholicism. Elizabeth knew by the time of her reign that it was politically expedient for the sake of the country's coffers to appease both sides. That's about the only time you'll get any religious tolerance 😢
How did she get the nickname Bloody Mary for burning people at the stake? Shouldn't it have been Crispy Mary? Or Fiery Mary? Burny Mary?
Who got the notes?
“Double U?”
How many people watch these that ain't from The United States ??
