    Looking to do this with an alcohol bottle, how well does the oven waterproof it? The bottle will regularly have water sitting in it, do you think thats gonna be problematic?

    So with it being cooked into jar, you can actually put in a candle and it won't mess with it? Also, I have backed a few jars with mod, and didn't like how they turned out, so when I let them soak in soapy water, after a few days, I could peel off the paint. And then scrub the remaining off the jar. To my understanding, you can not have water in the jars, nor candles that you light.

      It is probably not an official opinion but I have burned votives in these for a few hours at a pop with no problem. I am not swearing that is safe though, just that I have tried it and it was fine.

      I don’t - and I would be careful and test on other types of jars. I am wondering if the Mason jars handle heat better than other types of jars might do.

      I have not done it without baking - I expect it wouldn’t be as crystal clear without the heat. I have the oven set to 340 Fahrenheit

    • @hookedforlifewithMBT
      @hookedforlifewithMBT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not? But I would be concerned about the glass cracking if I wasn't sure the make of the glass. Mason jars are meant to withstand heat so I didn't feel concerned putting them in the oven.

    Hi! Came across your video and I want to do something similar to the glass jars I may order for my skincare business. Is there any possibility of the dye getting into my creams, etc?

    • @hookedforlifewithMBT
      @hookedforlifewithMBT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I simply do not have the answer to that - I am sorry. I would definitely say the glitter would get in the lotion but I am not sure of the dye. I would also think you’d have to be very careful of that so you didn’t ruin your product so my immediate instinct would be it’s not a good idea. The food coloring is obviously food grade but I am not sure about color transfer.

    • @hookedforlifewithMBT

      The Mod Podge doesn’t get peeled off. The whole point of baking it is so it dried clear and can stay in there!

  • @lindao7887
    @lindao7887 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Watching this is 2022, nowadays you can use Elmer's clear glue, it works just like mod podge and does better when adding color because it's clear - does not make the colors lighter.

    • @hookedforlifewithMBT
      @hookedforlifewithMBT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But can you bake Elmer’s glue? Genuine question not snark :-)

    • @lindao7887
      @lindao7887 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hookedforlifewithMBT It's not really baking, it's just allowing it to dry quicker in the low heat - otherwise for mod podge or elmer's glue you just need to let it sit 24 hours or until dry - oven heating is the speedy way
