Yeah, I did my very first one today, and it turned out streaky. Do you happen to know what I did wrong? I actually had seen this technique on a different video, but as I was trying to troubleshoot, I found this video. I cleaned my jar really well, not real sure what happened. Any help is much appreciated ❤
Interesting technique. Thanks for sharing. I was surprised that you put the glue and foodcolour on the insde of the jars. is it possible to put it on the outside and seal it somehow, in order to have it more permanent?
Yes you can and seal with a poly acrylic sealer. It still wont be permanent but will hold up a bit better. That is what I did with this project. th-cam.com/video/IWpM4nrhu3w/w-d-xo.html
This is cool using glue. A great project to do with the kiddies. I have used clear floor wax to do this project also. It works pretty good but I’m not sure it is permanent either; but it sure looks good!
You tinted the floor wax and then poured it in the bottles? That sounds pretty darn savvy I might have to try that. Did you use gel food coloring or paint? Thank you for answering
Hi I know this is an older video and someone may have already commented but on your screen it said 175 degrees Celsius is 347 degrees Fahrenheit so I'm not sure if that was a mistake because earlier you would said 175 degrees or 200 so I want to clarify I didn't read the comments yet so someone may have already pointed this out but I'm curious we are supposed to hit her up and around 175 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit?
Question... I'm having issues with bubbles. Don't know if I'm doing something wrong. I wouldn't be concerned if there was some here and there, but there's a lot. Because I have done a lot of acrylic paint/pour stuff, I try to be mindful of stirring. 🤷♀️ I used regular Elmer's glue one mixed with food color and one with acrylic paint. Both had the bubbles. My DIY chalk paint batches came out awesome!!!
I converted Celsius to Fahrenheit and it comes out to 347, so 350 would work for your oven. Thank you on the tip for Mod Podge, adding a bit of water. I just got some canning jars and food coloring plus MP, to do this for Christmas, was going to make red and green jars and hang them outside with battery operated candles with a remote control-Time ran out didn’t get them made. But glad as that MP would have upset me taking it’s sweet time coating the jars. I may do this for spring with different colors.
I have Used mod podge and paint on the outside of glass vases it makes it look like beach glass absolutely beautiful.!!!! Clear coat it and it’s ready to go. It’s very light translucent they turn out just like those ,but I painted mine on the outside. I like her idea also.
These look great, and I would have left the blue one just like that! What I am concerned about is that some glass jars might crack or even explode in the oven heat? Has that happened to any of the jars and bottles you have tinted before?
@@teejay1650 👍Exactly! 175°C / 350°F is too hot... you're not sterilizing these for canning, you're curing them with the color. So somewhere around the 200°F is better.
Thanks for the instruction on staining glass but do you know how I could stain plastic? I'm always saving it to use in my little houses and things... thanks again 🙋😎
Yes you can do it to a flower vase but you wont be able to put water in it Nancy. If you do this method you will: th-cam.com/video/IWpM4nrhu3w/w-d-xo.html
Nice project! Am planning a team project for young adults to build glass candle holders alittle smaller in size than the jar that you used. For sake of demonstration, I was hoping to apply some neon glue similar to what you used in the video and apply it to a small sheet of paper. I was then hoping to wrap that film with the neon glue around the inside of the glass. Finally I wanted to have the teams glue some mosaic tiles to the glass outside. If they glue the different colored mosaic tiles to outside of glass, would the neon glue on the inside film still show through in the dark?
I want to do some small glass perfume decant bottles. If I dye the inside, will it lease a residue or scent , and interfere with the perfume? Or can I dye the outside of the bottles?
I always enjoy your videos but think pouncing ModPodge tinted with acrylic paint on the outside of glass, then baking it on, produces a better result that won't come off.
1:05 'Pealing' color off jar gave me idea: - Dried Tint could be used Between Wax paper to make 'Stain glass Window'. ?? Don't know of other way to press colors for Scene or Design. [You?] Was thinking of times when kid, doing Fall Leaves. : }
I wanna paint my jars to make candles and you can peel the paint at the end so my question is if i did this to my jar and put hot candle wax in it would it peel of?? Because of the heat or another reason?
Tried this and spent over 2 hours trying to get it to work & bottles WERE NOT DIRTY. Attempted twice and they did not peel out as shown either. Just buy the bottles and save yourself the time.

I have enjoyed each one of your videos that I have viewed thus far. I appreciate seeing when a project does not turn out as desired. Thank you!
Thanks for watching Jean!!
What a great way to recycle those blah vases you get with flowers. Punch up the colors. Very cool and inexpensive.
Thanks so much 😊
I needed to see this video this week for upcoming spring upcycled glass jars. Thank you for sharing!
What a great effect on the Amber bottle! (and all of them!)
Yes I love the amber bottle also! Thanks for watching
These are great, Deidre!! Thank you so much for sharing! I appreciate you showing us what happens when it doesn't come out as planned too! 🥰

Loved them all. I’m trying to get a coastal decor for my niece so the blue and green would be great
I have a tutorial where i did some coastal theme lanterns using this technique. th-cam.com/video/GPs0e2Ezm2I/w-d-xo.html

Me too! Thanks for watching
The amber glass was my favorite as well.

I have never heard of that method! Will have to try it.

It is Fahrenheit lowest setting on your over sorry to be confusing
thanks for sharing definitely appreciate it can't wait to try this
Hope you enjoy

I will break the glass and make christmas tree❤ thank you
The amber is also my favorite bottle & color.

They are beautiful. Could you paint with that mixture on clear glass and set it up in your window?

Yes you certainly can!
Loved this technique. Am going to give it a go. TYFS (Pauline S)
Thanks for watchng! Have fun
Sweet idea!
I think so too!
Have you ever thought of doing a pour on a glass platter? Like they do on a canvas with paint or resin? using all of the colors to do a rainbow pour
That would be pretty
These are excellent, Thanks for the tutorial I'm now going to try this. 😀 👍
Thanks for watching glad you en

Thanks for watching ! I have never had that problem
Bake it a lower temp. Everyone I’ve seen does it at 225 Fahrenheit.

I love this technique! Thank you, thank you!

Ooh, the amber would come in handy for Halloween props, such as witch's brew ingredients or a spooky lab.
Yes it sure would!!
could I spray the inside with a sealer
didn't work for me ...I thinking it's because I coloured with acrylic paint
Prettttttty coooooool!!!!❤❤
Thanks for watching Mindy!
Adorable. TFS 🤣🙏👍👋💐🦋🌷🌸
Thanks for watching Alice!
I actually liked the blue one. It looked old and distressed. I call that a happy accident! ❤️😂🤣
Yes it actually wasn't too bad! Thanks for watching
Thanks for the instruction on staining glass but do you know how I could stain plastic? I'm always saving it to use in my little houses and things... thanks again 🙋😎
Unfortunately no I don’t
Deidre, I just love watching your videos! I want to color broken pieces of glass - how would I do that? Thanks for your knowledge and help!
You could use this method the only thing is this is not permanent
Love your channel
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed.
Such a fun and creative technique! I like the brown one best.....but they are all beautiful 😊 Hugs....Janie
Thank you so much! So easy to do!!
Amber!!!! Love it!!!! Which colors mix to make brown?
My favourite also!
Thank You!!!!
Thanks for watching ❤️
Can these get wet after baked? If not how would you set it? Spray sealer?🙏😁 love this can’t wait to try!
Say said in another comment that Poly Acrylic Sealer would work but it still won't be permanent. Worth trying I guess.
Love this idea...
Thanks 😊
The amber color is my favorite.
Mine too! Thanks for watching Patti
Superb. Thanks.
Glad you liked it
RED LOOKED THE BEST
Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed
What method do you use to thoroughly clean inside the small necked bottles such as the vinegar bottle and the one with the cork? Thanks!
I have a tutorial on how i remove and clean bottles that might help you out th-cam.com/video/BAeMqYOF_IY/w-d-xo.html
Pretty
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Love this
Thanks Denise glad you enjoyed
The amber one is great..think a lighter pink would suit me 🥰
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed.
Beautiful. Do these need to be heated in a separate oven or in the one you use for cooking?
I use it in the oven that I cook with on the lowest setting
@@OurUpcycledLife great. Thank you!!!
thank you very much!
You're welcome!
I’ve done this twice now and the jars come out transparent what am I doing wrong?. Love these sort of projects.
Does it have to be a heavier weight glass? Would a thin glass break in the oven?! Love your projects!!
I am usually just doing glass jars out of the recycling bin, so I think he would want to be careful with Finglass
Hi. Have you ever tried painting the colored glue on the outside instead of the inside? If yes, how did that turn out?
Yes you can
Can you do this to a flower vase? If so can you put water in it? Thank you! I love your video!
Yes you can do it to a flower vase but you wont be able to put water in it Nancy. If you do this method you will: th-cam.com/video/IWpM4nrhu3w/w-d-xo.html

Nice! Do you think they are resistant to water (I’m thinking about using them as a vase during one night)?
Not at all
Has to be only food coloring?
Awesome
Thanks for watching ! Glad you enjoyed Ginger
I want to do some small glass perfume decant bottles. If I dye the inside, will it lease a residue or scent , and interfere with the perfume? Or can I dye the outside of the bottles?
You can dye the outside
I always enjoy your videos but think pouncing ModPodge tinted with acrylic paint on the outside of glass, then baking it on, produces a better result that won't come off.
It does allow you to put water in jar
Have you tried to use the gel glue from Elmer's? Did it work?
I haven’t tried that
Can you make a candle out of the jar after you’re done?
I think it would melt the colour from the heat of the candle. Thanks for watching!
would it work for a jar candle? would it be ok for the flame?
Yes will be ok
Can u do it with acrylic paint?
I have tried and it doesn't dry clear so it wont be transparent. Thanks for watching
I was wondering can I use some type of glow in the dark paint to do the same concept I do glass engraving beer mugs and I want to to this to them
I’m on sure I’ve never tried anything like that
Hi, can I use this technique if I would like to put body butter in the jar? And how long does the tint last?
This is not water proof so it wont work for decor only
I wonder if you could use clear gorilla glue for that? Cool idea. U could also use India ink.
So many ways you can try and use it! Thanks for watching Lois
1:05 'Pealing' color off jar gave me idea: - Dried Tint could be used Between Wax paper to make 'Stain glass Window'. ??
Don't know of other way to press colors for Scene or Design. [You?] Was thinking of times when kid, doing Fall Leaves. : }
Oh that might work!! Thanks for watching Karen
Just wondering, could you add glitter to the solution to add a little bit more sparkle?
Yes you sure can! Thanks for watching Regina
Can you use paint than colouring
You can try but it doesn’t adhere as well and peels easier
what do you do with the leftover paint mix after you pour out of jar?
If there’s much that drips out I just have it on a paper towel and then I discard it
Will it work if you put it on the outside of the jar.
Yes you can also put it on the outside of your jars and that way you could put water inside the jars if you wanted to put flowers in it
I'm having issues with the glue clumping along the jar rim. I tried different ways to avoid it but no avail. Do you have suggestions?
I let drip on paper towel till it doesn’t run anymore then gently rub top clean then bake
Can you do this on clear plastic?
You can try but I think it might peel off really easy!
That seems easy enough but will it fade in the sun?
I have not found that it did, and I had some right in my windowsill
After staining the glass wine bottles, can I mod podge a picture on the outside
Certainly
I wanna paint my jars to make candles and you can peel the paint at the end so my question is if i did this to my jar and put hot candle wax in it would it peel of?? Because of the heat or another reason?
I have not tried that so Im unsure . You will have to see what it does. A little trial and error
Could you do this to drinking glasses? Would it be safe?
No this is for decor only. Thanks for watching ! Glad you enjoyed Emily
So can you do the process on the outside of the glass and seal it?
Yes, you certainly can
Green one
Is dyeing glass jars safe enough to put food inside?
No not food grade
If you wash this, will the tint be removed?
This is not washable it’s for Decor only
I wanted to try this project, but I wanted to add sand on the inside. Would the sand eat the color away?
I’m unsure
Is there a way to achieve a similar effect without using the oven?
I am unsure you could just let it air dry, but I’m not sure if it would go as translucent as you would want it
@@OurUpcycledLife okay thank you
Is this food safe? I am looking to tint the outside of the jars for food storage.
If on outside would be ok but it’s not washable
Is there anything one can do to make it permanent? Maybe an oil base paint or a permanent glue
Unsure sorry
Green
Thanks for watching!
Would this work on bottles tree
Won’t hold up in elements! Sorry ❤️
how do you stain a jar without the color coming off?
I wonder if this has been tried with Mod Podge glass
Yes will work with mod podge or glue
Tried this and spent over 2 hours trying to get it to work & bottles WERE NOT DIRTY.
Attempted twice and they did not peel out as shown either.
Just buy the bottles and save yourself the time.
