Can you drink after staining the jars in example 2? i'm trying to figure out good ideas for a wedding favor and I want to stain the jars but I want to make sure you can drink out of them!
Hi I wanted to ask a question. On the mason jars the ones you colored from the inside can you put water inside them? Drink from them? Or put food inside them? Or will the color come off if I do so? They're all so beautiful and I wanted to try it out.❤️❤️
Diana Dominguez ,if u wanna use them for drinking or for flowers,,u can paint the outside, ,with the first set she did anyway,,then just make sure u use a spray protection, ,since if u drink from them u can wash after,,u can find those in any store in the paint section, and u can choose from matte, satin or glossy finish
You can't use the ones with paint or mod podge as drinking / eating containers - mod podge is not considered "food safe" by the FDA - If you are gonna deco the outside of the jar, use the specific "dishwasher safe" formula of the mod podge - then follow the curing instructions on the bottle
Thank You for sharing this video! I have been looking for the 2nd DIY ...I am wanting to re-purpose my Oui yogurt jars & I thought they would look great with a tad bit of "stain-glass" color.
Ok so if you wanted to do the tinted version (the second example) could I do one part of the jar one color and bake it, then do the other part a different color and bake it again? Basically my question is can you bake it more than once/can you do multiple colors for the tinted one
wendytung I was wondering if I just did the tinted method without baking it in the oven and just create the effect of the first one, will it peel off? If it does what should I do
For the tinted glass jars what if afterwards the baking and then letting it dry/cool in the oven for an hour and you still got some dried up drip marks
@Wendytung - what does the oven do? I want to do the paint on the inside then cover it with modgepodge after - will it dry on its own or do i need to put it in the oven?
I want to tint some small glass perfume decant bottles. Is there a way to tint the outside of the bottles? I want to avoid the inside so that the paint doesn't interfere with the perfume.
I store odds and ends in my saved food jars (not canning), such as rubber bands, paper clips, batteries, glue sticks, etc. I'm thinking metal objects such as batteries and paper clips would make unpleasant scratch marks. Also, once you apply anything to the inside, it's no longer considered food-safe, so no longer should they be used for...canning.
After any of these processes, they are "just decorative / storage" - I wouldn't think you'd have a reason to put any of them into a microwave or dishwasher
I don't live in the America I live in the uk and I've always wondered where do you get mason jars ? Are they like things you get for free or are they just standard jars? Haha
molly hooper the ones I used in the video are purchased from the grocery store (canning section) in a pack of 12. They are purchased empty. You can also buy them at craft stores individually (in the US... not sure about the UK). But all 3 methods I showed would work on any empty, glass jar or bottle (method 1 and 2 work best with clear glass). Hope this helps.
molly hooper I'm also from the UK, I brought some mason jars at home bargains and I heard that Tesco, Asda and other shops have them too. Personally I haven't see any of them in Asda, Tesco and them....but you can try
I'd err on the side of caution and say "nope" - unless you are using the dishwasher safe mod podge and follow the curing instructions like you would for a piece of dot art glassware (in which the dots are never ever on the eating / drinking side of the item)
Not sure about the flower vase - one way to try it would be to do a "throw away" jar (one you give no cares about what happens to it / keeping it) and try that. Please post the results, as I want to try to use them as vases for those acrylic "water" flower arrangements
I think not, unless you want to try baking them in the sunlight outside . . . . the "normal" cure time for dishwasher safe mod podge (yes, that is a thing, and no - that's not the kind she used in the video) is 28 days

Thank you so much. Now I can use up my drawers of unused paint 😍. They look great x

No - the mod podge is not considered food safe.
Great tutorial. All of the jars are beautiful. Thanks.
Hey I was wondering if you want to do candles will the color stay on the jars?

I love it. But question, if you're using it as a vase for flowers, would the paint mix with the water and ruin the flowers and make a mess?
I have the same question!
Omg ive got a whole case of tall canning jars and im sooo doing this sometime this week when I have some time off
Will the paint wash off easy?
Any specific acrylic paint you recommend?
Thank You for sharing this video! I have been looking for the 2nd DIY ...I am wanting to re-purpose my Oui yogurt jars & I thought they would look great with a tad bit of "stain-glass" color.
These look great. I’m going try do the third one for Easter and spring jar.
Can you use an electric oven? What temperature would you set it on?
Do you have to add water or can you just use the paint without water.
Would it help to use modge podge in the place of water
Using the 2nd method (tinting) can you then use the jar as a vase for those acrylic "water" flower arrangements?
Ok so if you wanted to do the tinted version (the second example) could I do one part of the jar one color and bake it, then do the other part a different color and bake it again? Basically my question is can you bake it more than once/can you do multiple colors for the tinted one
This is a great video because you didn’t make us watch you paint an entire jar in real time! Good job speeding things up! Great info as well!
I love all three!
I'm not American, I'm from the UK and I was just wondering, is modpodge basically PVA glue?
Molli. Pop You can use PVA. Any permanent white glue can be used if you don't have Modpodge.
Thankyou!!!
wendytung I was wondering if I just did the tinted method without baking it in the oven and just create the effect of the first one, will it peel off? If it does what should I do
Molli. Pop for the tinted jars would it work with yellow paint instead of food colouring?
Can you use the jars #2, to make soy candles in?
I painted my jar two times and it still didn’t paint good. Do I need to add some water like you did? These jars look great! :)
For the tinted glass jars what if afterwards the baking and then letting it dry/cool in the oven for an hour and you still got some dried up drip marks
Love these ideas! Super easy and cute!
@Wendytung - what does the oven do? I want to do the paint on the inside then cover it with modgepodge after - will it dry on its own or do i need to put it in the oven?
If you're painting just the outside, it does not need to be put in the oven :)
Im going to try this one .i thought i had mason jars but they just regular jars can i use them for this diy. tfs
you could use literally ANY jar you can get paint into for this - the smaller necked jars / bottles will take longer to dry tho
I want to tint some small glass perfume decant bottles. Is there a way to tint the outside of the bottles? I want to avoid the inside so that the paint doesn't interfere with the perfume.
I imagine you can use the tinted mod podge and "paint" it on the outside, then bake. I've never tried that so unsure of the outcome!
@@wendytung thanks!! 🙏
Wendy !! Where are you ?? We miss your videos please post one soon hope all is well
But can we also get some tea, for example, and drink from jars?
Is chalk paint water proof???
Do you need to put the second one in the microwave?
Hi, I was just wondering, do you think Douwe Egberts jars would be ok to use?
Thank you for sharing & all the useful tips! Great job on the jars!!!

So cool ! Are they microwave/ dishwasher safe?

That was wonderful Wendy. Thank you. Just what I was looking for.

can you store face cream in the jars after tinting?
I love your DIY videos. You are so crafty!! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday. Happy New Year.
Oops, forgot to also add that you should do some home decor videos too :)
Adelle Trotta thanks! I had a wonderful Christmas! Hope you had a great one too!Happy new year :)And I will def be making some home decor vids soon xo
What is 4 part paint-I don’t know what that means
I did the second diy and it did not turn out like these at all. It looks awful. I wonder what I did wrong
nice jars👍
I can't believe the tinted jar worked I didn't think it would work😎
Does the food coloring need to be a gel??
No. You can use liquid food coloring. I just like the intensity of color gel provides. But you can acheive the same effect using regular liquid.
wendytung
But can we also get some tea, for example, and drink from jars?
I'm not sure the mod podge on the inside is food safe TBH
I 💜💛 this video.
Love it! can I use the one look transparent color to use it with sugar like canister?
Nope - the mod podge is not considered "food safe" -
can u put drinks/food in the second diy u did???
Or use it as a flower vase? Since its baked is it color fast now?
I'd err on the side of caution and say "nope" - unless you are using the dishwasher safe mod podge and follow the curing instructions like you would for a piece of dot art glassware (in which the dots are never ever on the eating / drinking side of the item)
