Boat Trailer Safety Brake Cable Replacement

How to replace the safety break cable on a Supra SR (or similar wakeboard/wakesurf/ski boat). This was replaced with an A60 kit purchased at bakes marine which can be found here: www.bakesonline.com/trailer-e...
Although the kit was for an A60 head, I actually have an XR84 head, so the cable is a few inches longer than it should ideally be.

Bro - I just pulled mine today while putting the boat back (‘21 MC NXT22). I couldn’t believe I made such a noob mistake. Oh well, I know it could’ve been much worse! 💰 💰 💰 😬

is yours an x84? Mine looks just like yours and I pulled and broke my safety cable. I was surprised that mine is on a 2018 boatmate and it didn't set the brakes.

Yes it's an XR84, if you stop the video at 30 seconds in you can see it's stamped in metal about 4 inches back from the front, yours could have the same.

Hey I did the same thing as you and busted the tip of the brake hose. Do you have link for the replacement. I don’t see it.

That kit is for an A60, which is what I used on mine but the correct cable would have been a few inches shorter (for an X84 head)

Did you have to drain the brake fluid to pull the head?

I don't think so, but does need to be flushed to ensure no air in the line.

Your trailer says it is an xr84 and not an A60. Is the kit the same?

It looks like the cable should be a little shorter for the X84. That said I don't know specifically. My local dealer only had the A60 so that's what I bought. www.bakesonline.com/trailer-emergency-break-away-cable-ufp.html

Did the same thing yesterday 😩. Can I reset that mechanism and run without the cable. Not trying to dive into it just yet.

Yes if you release the brake with the lever then you can trailer without it.
