As a quilter and in my younger days also a woodturner I found the combination of wood and fabric a fascinating idea.. I'm glad my late husband didn't see this as I would have had to hide my stash of fabric 😊. Beautiful hollow form.
Another commenter called it Jaw Dropping and that made me realise that it reminds me of the inside of a jawbreaker with the layers. Using the fabrics is going to open up so many creative opportunities for you.
Who would have ever thought of putting cloth as an inlay. It is beautiful and I really like it. Once the Designer Epoxy got into the material it turned out great .
My wife is a quilter and if we moved we would be over the 8000 lb in fabric alone. Now god forbid that she goes to the pearly gates before me I have a plan for some of that fabric. Turned out beautiful. Designer Epoxy.
Designer Epoxy. Thats was...Oh my!!! 🤩🤩🤩 A work of art is unrepeatable. I don't think anyone can make another one like this.🤔😮😳 It must be like heaven if you walk through a room filled with all the pieces you've created.
That fold in the cloth that produces the red spot remind me of the red spot on Jupiter. I can see using blue /green/grey white cloths looking like storm clouds. Its certainly a completely unexpected effect. Very cool.
I, for one, LOVE the larger foot on the bottom. It gives it more character. This piece is a show stopper. ❤❤❤ Jim, you have outdone yourself. Just WOW.
The fabric really blew me away! With Designer Epoxy the possibilities seem endless. Also surprised at how easily the fabric cut on the bandsaw, that was a major timesaver!
I don't envy you the task of emptying out your workshop😱 This hollow form is so beautiful, what a fantastic way of using up bits of cloth, I absolutely loved last week's hollow form , but you have absolutely surpassed your self with this one , I love, love, love it . ❤🇬🇧
It's another stunning shiny peace. Its looks liks two burgers braun breat with yellow pudding between it...ha, ha. Another peace Jim for your foto-collection ofcourse. And i wish everyone a happy and blessed weekend. Greetings from Gert Bouwman from the Netherlands Utrecht.
Absolutely LOOOVE this piece!! Especially the pink and yellow stripes (the ONLY colours I can see ... blind). Whoever gets it, VERY fortunate. I think one of my favourites to date. All the best with your move!
25:28: it looks gorgeous here! The scrunched wavy nature of it project at this stage is really awesome. 41:38: 😍🤩👏 DANG Jim! You are not even done yet and this piece is definitely in your top 10 for creativity! Super Cool!!!! The larger foot is really nice! Final determination with the light…top 5 now for me! Well done!!!
I have been sewing all my life and I thought I knew a fair amount about fabric. So when you said that you were going to cut it on your bandsaw I was talking to the tv saying “no Jim don’t do that!” I was shocked by how neatly that method worked. I think the wood is beautiful as is the finished piece. Very imaginative.
What a beautiful piece and I love the larger foot on it. The fabric is an intriguing choice and I love watching your vision come to life. Really like the slightly longer videos. Thank you for sharing your journey from inspiration to fulfillment with us. God bless and take care
I really love the grain of the wood on top and colours of fabric are most interesting also. I didn't think that would work but it sure as heck did. Well done once again.
I agree with one of the other comments…while it isn’t round, it does remind me of the planet Jupiter…the wood is gorgeous…one of my favorites of your works…👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!! You and your designer epoxy are going to win me over to hollow forms. I have never liked them until I started watching you. The larger foot works great.
Once again, you amaze me with your ingenuity. I would never have thought of cloth incorporated with butternut in resin. Genius. It turned out so beautifully. Of course, you couldn't tint the epoxy. The cloth brought the contrasting colors. I really love the look of the butternut crotch. Awesome piece, Jim. Cheers!! Designer Epoxy
Wow Jim! This is simply amazing. It looks like you combined the rings of Saturn with the great red spot of Jupiter with wood. I'm speechless. I love this. I'm in total awe.
Yeah! This is one of my favorites! The form plus fabric inlay very satisfying. I am a Quilter and to see fabric used in this artistic form is awesome. Love, love, love! ❤🎉
A wonderful mix of fabric, wood and Designer Epoxy. How gratifying it must be to follow your creative instinct and discover such beauty in items others might regard as scrap. Thank you for sharing it with us.
There is no end to the creative possibilities and you have a real gift for finding great ones Jim. I especially love how you find the form to best display the beauty of the wood grain.. Thank you for another great video!
This is just drop dead gorgeous! I love the glow of the wood, and the material band is stunning. You never cease to amaze me with your talent. Thank you for another great video, Jim. Designer Epoxy
That's a gorgeous hollow form. The fabric works extremely well as inlay material and goes well with the wood. It's one of your most intriguing pieces ever.
The casting with Designer Epoxy was basically a cool display piece by itself! The wood grain on that butternut crotch is just gorgeous and that fabric inlay is just amazing. Another fantastic turning job!
I never would have thought in a million years you could use material in one of your pieces! It opens up an entire new world of color and shape. Beautiful! Thank you for the vid!
im a quilter , and all crafts, and I thought how in the world is he going to cut that . I was amazed how it turned out. I love the woodland the material. what a cool piece, great idea !
I must tell you when I saw what you intended to do with the fabric I didn't think it would work. I thought you were headed straight for one gigantic mess. However, I was wrong. The fabric addition worked really quite well. In the end you ended up with a very nice turned hollow form. I think it's a cool piece!! Designer Epoxy
Lol you do that every video. “I’m not sure what I’m gunna make this time” , then proceed to make the most basic container. Much love. Love the content.
Wow. I had no idea what you wanted from the fabric at the start of the video, and now I see there's likely no other way to achieve that effect. So amazing! Love the shape of the piece, too. Very attractive. Gorgeous wood.
Very imaginative! My wife loves this one. She is a quilter and is always collecting interesting and unique fabrics. You have a knack for coming up with unique methods and use of different materials in your castings. I really like to see your imaginative ideas come out in beautiful pieces. I also like the proportions of the foot to the overall piece. Designer Epoxy
Whonwould have thought fabric would work on the band saw?? I laughed and said "that's not gonna work!" But wow, it looks like it cut like butter! This is so cool! I'm not aware of anyone ever doing this... I think you just created a new trend! I know it doesn't do anything for your business, but if I had the money I'd absolutely buy it! It's beautiful, creative, and the whole concept is completely singular! Whoever gets the "first" of this type of bowl is so lucky! I'm glad you got to meet with the buyer of the house and y'all get along! The house you built will live on to hold a new set of cherished memories! Can't wait to see the new house! Since the piece wasn't heavily Tinted, I wasn't sure how to incorporate Designer Epoxy in the comment 😂 See you in the next one, Jim!
It looks very cool and very pretty! Using fabric can really lead to so many different design ideas, like a rainbow effect or a same color ombre effect. So much fun potential. Again, thanks for bringing us along on the experimental journey. Can't wait to see more of this idea!
The bowl is gorgeous. Nick Zammeti has worked with fabric. He does a lot with colored pencils and Legos. It's amazing how cool these items can turn out. Peace, Love and Freedom 🇺🇲
I'm so bummed I missed the live feed, I sewed my finger and thumb together, tuning up my Singer. I couldn't work my phone. Lol! I think the bigger bottom looks great on this piece! Designer Epoxy stood up to the test again to make another fine masterpiece! Great video Jim! Thank you!
I have seen a few people put cloth and resin together. I didn't really think about doing it like this though. I saw one guy turn a bunch of denium into a table awhile back. Very nice peice. Gives it a character that regular resin couldn't do easily without a lot of cure time between layers. Many shops have reminates and fat quarters that would be good for this kind of project. Yet again, you have shown what can be done with resin that I have never thought to try. I honestly couldn't believe the band saw actually cut it before the resin went on it. lol Designer Epoxy.
The colors in the lower half of the piece make me think of the painted desert, after a rain, in Arizona. Fabulous! Thank you for sharing this lovely work of art.
I am flat out astonished that your fears about the fabric on the band saw didn't come true. Maybe I should consider getting a band saw for my sewing room? 😄 I do like the larger foot. Great piece!
Wow, who would have thought that a couple pieces of fabric would make the difference seen!?! It completely changes it from clear epoxy. I'm glad you are planning on doing more of these, this is beautiful. I love the randomness of color. I bet you would get a whole different look if you used the same color but different shades. This is a winner idea!!
Hello Jim. You are thinking outside the box again mate!!!! So well done. Wouldn't have thought that the fabric would have behaved so well as it did after the resin immersion. The bowl turned out so well. Congratulation to your craft. Kind regards, Dave, Beachmere, Queensland, Australia.
i love how the micarta looks less like fabric and more like a really intricate multi-layer resin pour...
It has that feel. Thanks!
As a quilter and in my younger days also a woodturner I found the combination of wood and fabric a fascinating idea.. I'm glad my late husband didn't see this as I would have had to hide my stash of fabric 😊. Beautiful hollow form.
LOL
Yup, lots of ideas coming with fabric. Thank you very much!
I’m glad you did the fabric project. On Vancouver Island tonight. Awesome Jim 👍👍
Another commenter called it Jaw Dropping and that made me realise that it reminds me of the inside of a jawbreaker with the layers. Using the fabrics is going to open up so many creative opportunities for you.

Thank you very much!
I agree! That's exactly what it looks like!
