Just wanted to say that in the middle of a bunch of stress and anxiety, being able to sit down with a cup of coffee and watch you create this beautiful piece was like finding a port in a storm this morning! Thanks for being there and I hope you get your 4 feet back!
This came out soooo well! I'm surprised that the silver infill does not show more starkly silver in the finished piece, but you can still see the crack. For sure the orientation of the wood to form the wavey epoxy line was the way to go!
It's like wood sandwiching an amazing amethyst geode. That crack helps complete the geode effect. It is stunning. With the light inside the resin transformed into Blue John, a rare fluorite found locally to me. Two different crystals captured in wood ❤🤩
I completely understand and empathize with you on waiting for the government when you're trying to build or renovate. We have been waiting for the county to approve our building permits for over a year after a house fire last October. Hopefully we will hear within the next couple of months.
Definitely the best-looking hammer attack victim I've ever seen. Dang Jim that is simply incredible. Just as resin was a great leap forward for your work, the hypershift is another game changer. This video was a perfect example of what I love about your channel. Besides the creativity, you give us a good laugh now and then. Hard to believe this was an hour-long video. Time flew like shavings.
Excellent piece of work and you have ended up with a beautiful piece. I think it would have been just as good without the cracking and repair but given that was intended you got a great result…👍👍
My wife and I started watching your videos a month or so ago. We have a ways to go before we are caught up, but this is easily my favorite piece so far. I think that we're looking at top ten for my wife 😊
Yes it is simply awesome. I like how the cracks look after the second poor. They really show up nicely. You hit a winner with the shape, and the collar is just right. Great job.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎
I have watched many different wood turners and have settled on two. For me it is personality and the easy way you teach us. You also let us know if mistakes so we can avoid them. When you don't want the cracks they crack, and want cracks they don't. Keep us smiling.
Another fine work of art by Jim Sprague. The resin looks like outer space to me. The maple is stunning. Thank you for all your hard work you do for us to view. 🌿 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hi Jim I loved the shape of your hollowform -very interesting that by just turning the top piece of wood can makes such a curvey shape for the resin river. For me I find it a bit bemusing that you worry about the knot on the top when you deliberately put & want cracks in it!. With the added hyper-shift I felt it was sufficient without adding cracks which shows off the hyper-shift effect. Regarding your comments about loosing some of your new workshop space to the house amused me. Weeks ago you were bragging that the workshop was the most important part of the new build -in my opinion its only rightful that your wife be a bit hard on her needs, in my opinionated, Overall it is a beautiful piece. Well done
The cracks were the main focus of this piece, that why I wanted more. In regards to the shop, for the money we’re getting back from the builder, it just doesn’t make sense for me to loose 4 feet. Hopefully, the price of lumber will come down and this won’t even be a thing. Thanks for watching
Hi Jim Good morning to Tuesday for me. It's fun building from scratch but also challenging. You are right, the problem (4square feet) may resolve itself. Hopefully you can still get the concrete poured for that area & that the reduced area is planned for an easy extension later on OR that you can get another shipping-container & covert that to the extra space for less money if need -you have the engineering skill or could easily upskill to do it -a shipping-container would be bigger than 4x4 squared so you may end up with even more space than intended. Anyway there is always hope. God bless
Maple + purple = my favorite! The silver is a nice addition as well. As expected, this is another beautiful piece you've made. Also, I hope you can get your 4 feet back 😂
Absolutely beautiful piece Jim. I was amazed at the abuse the resin took at the hands of you and the hammer. You definitely made the correct choice in the blank alignment. One of your best!
Breathtaking piece! The crystal purple, hypershift, and silver kintsugi together are, to me, very reminiscent of an amethyst crystal and silver ore seam running through a rock. A sensational pairing with the birds eye maple, and I must agree this stunner is also in my top 3 pieces of your work Jim! Thank you! I'd buy it if I had the money, but I'm certain it will bring its new owner much joy! 💜
Between Designer Epoxy, the incredible pigments, the addition of the hypershift materials and your unique approach to creating all these one of a kind pieces has been such a comfort to witness over the last couple of years!! Thank you so much for what you do. Your art is incredible. To own such a piece would be a real treat.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching how this came together. It is absolutely beautiful. The knot is not a knot issue. Not a purple fan but the HyperShift made it very special more of an eggplanty purple. 10 Stars out of 5.
The curving river around the middle of the pot makes it, in my opinion--the way you positioned the two pieces of wood set this beauty up. Love the way the cracks fell along the "river" band. lovely.
This piece is definitely one of my favorites. I am very glad that you could not remove that knot, it gave the piece an exquisite and awesome masterpiece. I love ❤it. Thank you for creating this wonderful masterpiece
#1 for sure! I love birdseye maple, and I think the purple is beautiful. I am not a big fan of the tiny opening, because I always think ‘what am I going to put in there?’ But, overall the form is gorgeous, as usual! Thank yo for sharing your process with us!
@@SpragueWoodturning Yes! True! And I live in a small house, so I am always thinking about how my art can have function as well. For instance, I did a huge wood and epoxy piece, and incorporated it into my floor. I love the intent behind the Arts&Crafts movement of the late 1800’s and try for both artistic beauty and function in my pieces.💕 Your pieces are stunning, which is why I watch!
Beautiful piece. The birds eye is great but the Designer epoxy purple with hypershift and silver really gives it some pop. Definitely my favorite to date.
A truly spectacular piece! I've always loved purple and silver/grey. I also love how the interior-lit view at the end makes it look almost like an opal geode. I would have found a before/after weight on this piece very interesting. Thanks as always, Jim!
Jim, Sir, I thought you were going to break it in half. It made a nice crack and I love the epoxy with the sparkle. The wood grain is amazing. You did a wonderful job making a beautiful piece.
Love the way you "made" the thermal cracks when they didn't happen on their own! That's innovative problem solving! Awesome work, as usual. We look forward to your video each week. Keep them coming, Jim!
Love it before it is even finished and I love the knot at the top. Can't stop watching it to get my dinner. Praying you get your 4 feet and that it is all perfect for you and your wife.
How you get an heirloom piece by whomping it with a hammer 🔨 is amazing! I agree with others. An amethyst geode from space. In the middle of bird’s eye maple.
🤣😂🤣 you seem to have anew number 1 every week. Almost🤣😂🤣. Your skills have definitely grown. If not perfected, they are pretty darn close! It’s been great watching you create and grow in ways I had never imagined.
This is the most beautiful resin/ wood combo you've done, in my opinion. The shape is great, and I love the way the silver flows thru the resin. Truly a timeless, classical beauty.
You sure made the right call when you decided to turn the end-grain 90 degrees to one another. This piece is stunning. Thanks for the tips on using the hollowing system. Mine still hasn't gotten any further than being taken out of the box, but now that winter is setting in, I hope to have more time and get it rigged up and start making some hollow forms. I'm sure I'm going to have to modify my laser attachment so I'll have to dig up your video on how you did it. Thanks again for all your videos and all the tips.
the words that come to me when looking at this piece are quietly elegant
Thank you very much!
I'll say it again. Absotively posilutely beautiful.
Thank you very much!
Just wanted to say that in the middle of a bunch of stress and anxiety, being able to sit down with a cup of coffee and watch you create this beautiful piece was like finding a port in a storm this morning! Thanks for being there and I hope you get your 4 feet back!

Glad to help! Thank you very much!
Very beautiful!
Cool beans, beautiful creation.
Orrrrrr whiskey!!!
I love how you combined cracked resign with the cracked wood. It was a perfect combination of materials.
Thank you! Cheers!
It's like wood sandwiching an amazing amethyst geode. That crack helps complete the geode effect. It is stunning.
With the light inside the resin transformed into Blue John, a rare fluorite found locally to me. Two different crystals captured in wood ❤🤩
Cool! Thank you very much!
Yes! It looks like a geode encased in maple.
I completely understand and empathize with you on waiting for the government when you're trying to build or renovate. We have been waiting for the county to approve our building permits for over a year after a house fire last October. Hopefully we will hear within the next couple of months.
Wow, that sucks! Is this Canada or the USA?
What a phenomenal piece. If you think it's #1, then it is! Fantastic light show at the end for those who waited patiently.
Thank you very much!
That hyper shift is the bees knees! Silver vs gold was the right choice. She’s a beauty! Thanks Jim!
I think so too! Thanks
Definitely the best-looking hammer attack victim I've ever seen. Dang Jim that is simply incredible. Just as resin was a great leap forward for your work, the hypershift is another game changer.

I feel like a broken record, just another beautiful creation from the dynamic duo.. Jim Sprague and Designer Epoxy!
Thanks again!
My wife and I started watching your videos a month or so ago. We have a ways to go before we are caught up, but this is easily my favorite piece so far. I think that we're looking at top ten for my wife 😊
Thank you very much!
This is a masterpiece. The purple and hyper shift are perfect partners. Truly stunning Jim
Thank you very much!
the designer epoxy with hyper shift looks great with this bird's eye maple. the end result is just great!
Thank you very much!

Murphys law has a permanent residency in my workshop, lol. Thank you very much!
Another fine work of art by Jim Sprague. The resin looks like outer space to me. The maple is stunning. Thank you for all your hard work you do for us to view. 🌿 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you very much!
That 'thermal' crack looks amazing! That crack looks natural yet travels the whole way around the piece.
It does! That’s the cool part too. Thank you very much!
I agree this is among the best you've done. Stunning piece. 😍
That hypershift is amazing.
Thank you kindly!
Lately, every piece is your new favorite, lol. That Hyper-Shift is an absolute game changer. How can you ever go back to making a piece without it?
It’s going to be tough, lol.
It’s fabulous! The hyper shift in the epoxy is stunning. You did it again. 👍😊
Thank you! Cheers!

As always it's absolutely gorgeous Jim. You always make such beautiful pieces of art!!
Thank you very much!
Wow jim I think this is #1! 🎉 i cannot get over the hypershift effects. Looks like a geode. I'd like to see similar in dark wood...walnut? Spectacular
I’ve got some unique walnut pieces in the fridge kilns now. Thank you very much!
Maple + purple = my favorite! The silver is a nice addition as well. As expected, this is another beautiful piece you've made. Also, I hope you can get your 4 feet back 😂
Thank you very much! Working on it
I love watching the shavings being blown out of the hollow. Another fantastic piece 👏 x
Thank you very much!
Jim this is definitely a #1 piece. You should open an art studio. looking forward to next weeks video. Thanks
Love too, but just don’t have the time. Thanks
The resin is stunning. Love the cracking. And the wood is gorgeous. So much character.
Thank you so much!
That line in the epoxy looks like lightning. Love the look of your latest art.
Thank you very much!
Absolutely stunning! I could stare into that starry purple nebula for ages!
Me too. Thanks
😊Stunning, Jim! That birds eye has so much character on it's own. Combined with those colors and you got the WOW factor. ❤ it. Thanks
Thank you so much 😀
Absolutely beautiful piece Jim. I was amazed at the abuse the resin took at the hands of you and the hammer. You definitely made the correct choice in the blank alignment. One of your best!
Thank you very much!
Another masterpiece! Love the lightening effect in the resin.
Thank you very much!
The 'on purpose ' thermal cracking is great, love it.
Thank you very much!
That's definitely a stunner! The combination of birdseye maple and designer epoxy really enhances your design and vision! Great job Jim 😎
Thank you very much!

What an absolutely lovely piece. The resin, both colors, go so well with the maple. Nicely done, Jim.
Thank you very much!

Absolutely phenomenal piece! I think this might be my favorite too! Beautiful work Jim! ❤️
Thank you very much!
The colors are beautiful; however, when you put a light inside STUNNING! It looks like alabaster
Absolutely, thanks!
Another beautiful piece, the silver in the cracking is just perfect ❤
Thank you so much!
Who knew? That hammering time could look so good.
Thank you very much! ⚒️⚒️
I thoroughly enjoyed watching how this came together. It is absolutely beautiful. The knot is not a knot issue. Not a purple fan but the HyperShift made it very special more of an eggplanty purple. 10 Stars out of 5.
Thank you very much!
Faux thermal cracking silver inlay - beautiful resin shift - love the shape and all of that makes it numero uno ‼️
Thank you very much Jim!
The struggle was real! 😂 I absolutely 💕 the hyper shift with the purple
Thank you very much!
Once again, you hit it out of the park. It certainly is in your top 5.
Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
Up against that light backdrop that hyper-shift POPS! That is probably one of my favorites you have done to date as well! Beautiful!
Awesome! Thank you!
The curving river around the middle of the pot makes it, in my opinion--the way you positioned the two pieces of wood set this beauty up. Love the way the cracks fell along the "river" band. lovely.
Thank you very much!
Oh wow, please keep using hyper-shift! These pieces are phenomenal and hyper-shift ads just so much fun!
Thanks, will do!
Stunning!!!
When you put out the short asking what we thought this was going to be, I answered "gorgeous".
I think I guessed correctly. 😉
Yes you did, thanks
This piece is definitely one of my favorites. I am very glad that you could not remove that knot, it gave the piece an exquisite and awesome masterpiece. I love ❤it. Thank you for creating this wonderful masterpiece
Thanks so much!
It's like a geode sandwich 😁 the platinum was a good addition to the purple, really gave the hollow form a crystalline structure.
Thank you very much!
I don’t normally care too much for hollow forms, but this is absolutely gorgeous
Thank you very much!
Watching this creation was pure relaxation and therapy while I was in hospital. Thank you so much for the diversion! Beautiful! ❤️
Thank you very much! Get well soon!
This is hands down my favorite of all of your peices so far. So beautiful.
Thank you so much 😊
WOW, indeed! That purple is just alive! I love that wood grain! 🥰
Thank you! Cheers!
Designer epoxy: this is a fantastic piece! The 90 degree turn of the round makes the designs statement.
Certainly, thanks!
#1 for sure! I love birdseye maple, and I think the purple is beautiful. I am not a big fan of the tiny opening, because I always think ‘what am I going to put in there?’ But, overall the form is gorgeous, as usual! Thank yo for sharing your process with us!
This is something that’s in the art category and really not meant to have a functional use other than enjoy it’s beauty. Thanks

Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
Purple being my favorite color, this piece is absolutely beautiful!!! When it's lit, it looks like a view of mountain ridges from a drone. Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Good morning. The Birdseye Maple is beautiful.
It really is! Thanks
A truly spectacular piece! I've always loved purple and silver/grey. I also love how the interior-lit view at the end makes it look almost like an opal geode.
I would have found a before/after weight on this piece very interesting. Thanks as always, Jim!
Yes, I need to weigh these pieces more often. Thanks
Jim, Sir, I thought you were going to break it in half. It made a nice crack and I love the epoxy with the sparkle. The wood grain is amazing. You did a wonderful job making a beautiful piece.
Thank you very much!
I agree, definitely one of your best. I think the silver fill for the cracks was a better choice than gold.
I think so too! Thanks
Love the way you "made" the thermal cracks when they didn't happen on their own! That's innovative problem solving! Awesome work, as usual. We look forward to your video each week. Keep them coming, Jim!
Thank you very much!
Love, love, love birds eye maple and the resin is just beautiful. Amazing piece Jim
Thanks so much!
Jim many of your pieces are # - 1 very hard to state just one. ❤ all of them! Thank you 😊.
Glad you like them! Thanks
Love it before it is even finished and I love the knot at the top. Can't stop watching it to get my dinner. Praying you get your 4 feet and that it is all perfect for you and your wife.
Thanks so much!
How you get an heirloom piece by whomping it with a hammer 🔨 is amazing!
I agree with others. An amethyst geode from space. In the middle of bird’s eye maple.
It’s totally a geode. Thank you very much!
That hypershift really makes for a showstopper. Another great one-of-a-kind piece of art.
Thank you very much!
The part that looks like a crack through the middle is super cool. Beautiful!
Thank you very much!
Wow! That's all I can say, just WOW!
Thank you very much!
You're right, that resin is stunning
Thank you very much!
The epoxy looks absolutely electric! Love the Birdseye; it glows.

Yet another work of art, the hypershift makes the epoxy look like a nebula or galaxy. Well done
Thank you very much!
WOW just WOW, the thermal cracking is insane looking! I love the color!
It really is! Thanks

So nice of you, thanks.
I just LOooveE that color!
I was still sick this morning and couldn't watch the live show, but I can watch it now 😊
Welcome back! Thanks
Yes that is among the top but you do many that are spectacular! We truly love that Designer Epoxy
Thank you! Cheers!
I love crystal purple 😊💟💟💜💜
Thank you very much!
I love that the shape for the 2nd color of epoxy, is the result if banging the 8hit out it with a hammer! Beautiful
Thank you very much! ⚒️⚒️
Absolutely stunningly gorgeous Jim ❤ You are such a wonderful talented artist. Take great care and enjoy your vacation.
Thank you, I will
Beautiful designer epoxy and Birds Eye maple turning Jim.
Thank you very much!
This is the most beautiful resin/ wood combo you've done, in my opinion. The shape is great, and I love the way the silver flows thru the resin. Truly a timeless, classical beauty.
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful piece love the hyper shift and the birds eye makes it pop. Another beauty Jim!😂
Thank you very much!
I agree. Definitely one of your best creations. Love the hyper shift.
Much appreciated!
Love the swoop of the resin around the piece with the straight line cracking. Excellent work!
Thank you very much!
Purple and sparkly, my favourites. Also reminds me of the crack in Amelia Pond's bedroom wall❤ if you know you know. Thank you Jim
Nope, lol. Thanks
BE-AU-TI-FUL. This is a stunning piece of work. Well done 💜💜💜🇬🇧
Thank you! Cheers!
Once again, a magnificent piece. love, love, love the hyper shift. See you next week.
Thank you very much!
Truly beautiful. Don't know which is the nicer, that wood or the amazing resin! Just love it, the hypershift takes it to another level.
Thank you very much!
My pleasure, thanks
Beautiful masterpiece, vase is stunning, I’m impressed how great the silver veins look. Thanks Jim ❤
Designer Epoxy
Glad you like it!
Thank you for another purple turning it is a beautiful piece . And one would be proud to display this in their home.
Thank you very much!
Very nice. I like how the crack shows up even more under light. I had no idea the birds' eyes traveled like that through the wood. Fascinating.
It’s really cool. Thanks
I love purple, and the hypershift is fabulous.
Thank you very much!
I didn't think it was gonna look that great but it looks very very beautiful
Thank you very much!
