Woodturning a Big Oak Log (Simple and Beautiful)

- Welcome to today's woodturning project! I this video I am turning this big oak log into a simple, but beautiful bowl. I also used some resin to fill the cracks and holes in the log. For the finish I used Danish oil.

Absolutely stunning. I think sometimes people get caught up in exotic woods and forget how beautiful pieces like oak can be.
At first, I was so excited to see the large piece of wood you were working with. I thought that it would make a beautiful bowl without using epoxy. I find most woodturning now uses lots of epoxy. Then I saw you using it and I was disappointed. However, that changed when I realized that you were just using it to fill very small imperfections. The bowl is gorgeous!! One of the nicest that I have seen. Thank you for sharing.

Wow, that's pretty. And no exotic wood, colored resin, or fancy pattern. I used to dabble in hand carving. I loved working with walnut. Trying to get back into my art. Love seeing the different colors and grains of the wood.
Wow the pop of the wood after the finish was on was amazing, such a great bit of wood for this project.
Truly a work of art…taking firewood and making a treasured piece.
Love the intense dark colours of the wood, and the resin ended up looking like kintsugi! 😍

When you put the finish on the bowl it really made it pop,the colouring is superb.

Hi I really love the oak wood it has so much character and the grain is nice and I like the markings and nooks and crannies its beautiful. The resin was nice but the oak really soaked it up and the colour you chose blended well with the wood. The bowl is magnificent and unique well done I totally love this one in fact I love love all your pieces you turn. Amanda xx

A workman is only as good as his tools, they say, and you have some marvellous ones. But it's you skill using them and your ability to see the final product when your making it which astounds me.
That wood looked so gnarly and scary and intimidating but you turned it into something very beautiful! Wow!

Pretty bowl, should have cut the wood into pieces then filled with resin.
If kept the healed bark rings it might look nicer
