The rapid growth of your channel proves that the number of viewers who like your decisions (about voiceover, real-time, etc) far outnumber those who dislike them. Your instincts are good, and your videos are as well made as your bowls. This bowl is a beaut!
I'm not now or never will be a wood turner, I watch your videos for entertainment. I like the voice overs to learn your thought processes, especially how you overcome the accidents and mistakes. The finished product is always a beautiful reveal. If the voice overs are not wanted there is a mute on the volume.
I am loving this bowl. I will never be a wood turner, but I love when you do the voice overlays. Explaining what and why you do what you do. This is how you “make a silk purse from a sows ear” just beautiful!🥰
Well Debbie, i certainly understand the issue of being able to afford the tools! But i maintain that, usually, a person is never too old to try something new! Maybe you could try your hand at hand carving wood-i am guessing the tools for that are much less expensive! I would be thrilled to see you try it, and to see what you would create! 🤗
I agree that the voice-overs add tremendous value to the videos. As a beginner I am very interested in why a turner does something. That is how we learn. Just watching a “silent movie” may be interesting, but it leaves one wondering “why?” Keep up the good work!
I like the voice overs. It helps us to understand what you are doing and it adds an insight of how you are carving the piece. Also that bowl is beautiful. Congratulations on another outstanding piece of work. The colors all work well together to make the finished product a beautiful thing to see.🙂👍
I agree with Christine, my husband is the turner, but I’ve sorta took over his channel watching your videos. I love them best because of your voice overs and your beautiful designs.
I appreciate your voiceovers. I appreciate you insight. Keep sharing the way you do and we'll all keep learning from your experience. Thank you very much for all the time you put into the videos.
Heirlooms - when my daughter was 14, she grabbed and wants my Betty Crocker cookbook as I have always put the date I made whatever recipe in the cookbook. Back to ‘80’s.
Thanks Jim, amazing as usual. I love your discussions. I have learned a lot from you, even though I cannot turn wood or do resin at all, but love watching talented people. If people don't want to listen, they can turn the sound down. Keep on doing your amazing work
That whole "ruining the experience for me" category of comments really surprised me. Seems like there's maybe two completely different sections of TH-cam.... one section devoted to aesthetics and immersive sensory experiences, and one section devoted to craftsmanship and how to actually do things, including what tools and techniques to use. Maybe viewers from that first section wandered into the second section without realizing it, or knowing it even existed and that people appreciate it. For what it's worth, a lot of us value the craftsmanship section of TH-cam, and appreciate how informative and detailed your videos and explanations are! As for the bowl, stunning. The reds and purples and the copper pipes, so striking. And the brown resin (which ended up effectively adding another red) was a perfect choice. Love it! Such a great way of bringing life to a piece of wood.
Jim, your art is reaching higher levels of perfection! The combination of colours in this project is great! I actually liked the red and hazelnut together 😍
Hello from East Texas! I have to tell you, don't let the nonsense comments get you down. I love that you talk through the video and explain what you're doing. I'm one of those with constant questions as to why something is done, and you always answer! Your channel is the only wood turning channel I'm subscribed to. Love your work!!!!
Wasn't immediately sure how this bowl was going to turn out... but man alive! That is one BEAUTIFUL bowl! I love every aspect of it. With regards to the 'haters' complaining about the voice over, there's a 1001 boring videos that they can watch instead! To paraphrase Billy Joel... 'Don't go changing, we love your videos just the way they are' 👍
Jim. Please keep talking and walking us through the process. You are a wonderful teacher and one of my primary instructors as I am learning through your videos. Great work as always.
She’s a beaut, Clark! Congrats to the winner and to you for almost being at 60k. I really like the look of this bowl. The copper pipes are really cool filled with resin and I like how it sits in there. I learn so much from you with these bowls/projects. Thanks for what you do
I like how you do your voice over in the video. It helps me focus on what you are doing and teaches me. Those people that complain must never have been in a working shop before. The noise from all the machines is defining. Beautiful work 💖 thank you
I love that you do the voice-over, because it is a great teaching method. It makes me feel like I could come into a shop, and with supervision, of course, lots of it, do some wood turning and be safe at it. Many videos, including dental surgical videos that I watch, have hokey music and no information. People may choose to turn off the sound, if they don't want to hear you speak. Keep up the great work!
I love your videos. I enjoy you talking and explaining your process. Any one who doesn't like you talking doesn't have to watch your channel. They can watch someone else if they can't be nice. I will continue to watch your videos. 😊
I think your videos with the voice over are FANTASTIC. I very much appreciate your commentary because it helps all of us that don’t have the experience you do. I look forward to your videos every Friday to see what’s new and listen to you tips, as well of course, to see your beautiful work. I have a few channels I truly enjoy and yours is at the top.
Adding my own voice to the "I like the voiceover" crowd. I don't do woodturning, but I love hearing how you do what you do (and your voice is relaxing too!).
I find this channel immense and love the products. Really look forward to new videos and then going back through all the old ones! Your style has evolved and I like the voice overs, don’t get rid of them They do add value. I would get very bored just watching the wood spin without some sort of narrative. People could just mute it if they want! And your great too Jim, very talented and an excellent host.
Aw man I tune in to your videos SPECIFICALLY for the voiceovers. Fellow Canadian here, and the first video I ever watched when I saw that intro from Ontario Canada, filled my heart with pride and intrigue, and the rest of the video didn't disappoint either! Been watching ever since, loving your art, your attempts to save as much wood as possible, your expertise, and your voice. I find it particularly soothing and interesting to listen to! People who don't like that I feel there is a plethora of ASMR they can go watch, no need to tear a good man down. You are talented and I enjoy your process and the way you explain what you are doing. I learn a ton, thank you for sharing! Love from BC ❤️❤️
It's a beautiful bowl, Jim!! Molly is a very lucky winner. I thoroughly enjoy your voice over technique. I learn a lot from your videos and it's greatly appreciated.
I certainly appreciate your voiceovers. I feel I learn from each bowl you make. Not sure how to see your most recent bowls, yet I enjoy your beautiful creations no matter how recent. This turned out so amazingly beautiful! Great job! Bravo!!
Good evening, Jim. I'm a little behind this week. Tonight was the time to watch. Excellent inlay. I agree that roughing up the copper pipe is important. Your bowl is beautiful. Nicely done. Congratulations to Molly. Thumbs up.
I enjoy your telling us what tool you are using and why. I may not be a wood worker, the reason I watch is because it's real and relaxing. No drama . Enjoy watching and listening to you. 😉
I mostly watch your videos out of interest in a craft I know nothing about. I'm usually impressed by your skill whist not caring much for end product, preferring in general natural oiled and waxed wood. This bowl, however, I REALLY like. Well done for winning over an old fashioned purist. I think the hazelnut resin won me over by quietly blending with the wood hues allowing the inserts to do their thing.
I'm new to your channel and I think the voice-over is a great idea. You don't have to yell above the machine working plus the way you explain what you're doing even I can understand "some" of it. Your talent and creativity is amazing! Thank you for making videos, watching you create is very calming.
You, making comments about what & how your doing things, is of great value and interest! Beautiful piece of Maple, but with those fractures to deal with, you certainly have your work CUT OUT for you!!! Surely, no lack of design ingenuity! Amazing where you come up with these ideas, that make your projects so unique!! Didn't like seeing your cutting tool bouncing in/out with some of the initial copper cuts, but I know you've got ample skills to handle that!! Hazelnut resin is a nice color for fill in! The copper really add to the beauty of this bowl!! Outstanding natural finish tones!! An other beautiful bowl!!
It’s funny, I see things that might look good for an inlay and this is what happens. The copper pipe is a prime example, shiny bling with different colored resins and poof, there it is! My buddy said to me one day, does your mind ever stop thinking about Woodturning, haha. Nope! It doesn’t. Thanks Joe!
Woodworking has always fascinated me... think I have a hidden worker in me.. would have loved to of tried woodworking but never had the money or knowledgeable people around to help. Different times no internet to learn from. So thank you for being there to let me enjoy the process.
Congratulations Molly for winning a fabulous bowl. Jim I like watching you turn the bowl to make it right again. I loved how you integrated the copper in the wood it really does look cool and I love listening to you explain everything it makes it interesting and helps me learn things new don't stop doing them. The end result is first class well done Jim from Amanda x
Going technical again. Brilliant unexpected finish! Skiing here in Australia this week with a good early start to the season, still hanging out for the weekly wonder!
Beautiful piece as usual. Please don't change the way you do your videos. There are lots of videos that the turners don't talk at all. Every video you do I learn something new you have a great chanel.
I really appreciate your voice overs. As someone new to wood turning, I enjoy the instructional aspect of the videos as well as seeing your amazing artwork! This particular bowl is beautiful and another of your examples of how to turn a non-perfect piece of wood into an exceptional product.
I Like it! The hazelnut resin suits so well, with the branches of the inlay. The light shining through it is so pretty. I like the muted glow of the light through the resin in the pipes. The copper pipe and branches go so well together with their similar shapes, but differing colours. Nice one, Jim! Thank you for showing us these techniques!
Other folks are saying this in the comments, but it is really enjoyable to hear you explain why you’re doing what you’re doing. The narration adds more information than what can be gained from sight and sound, like the temperature of the metal.
I love all the spots on the bowl. It looks super cool! I also take "reject" projects and adjust them later to turn them into real inventory. Just because something didn't work, doesn't mean you throw it away! Sometimes you have to cover up or take off something on there, other times you can chop it up and add it to two or three other projects. But it's still useful!
I like one of your other viewers am not a woodturner, but just love to watch you work. I'm so impressed that you can do that with the copper pipe. Love this bowl so much. Told the hubby as soon as I get some extra cash, I'm going shopping 😃
I come for the bowls but stay for the voice overs. Keep doing what you're doing. Loved this week's project. Filling some copper pipes might be another good use for that extra resin.
This is an amazingly stunning bowl, with the inlaid copper pipe and branches. It turned out so so beautiful. I really enjoy your voice overs, for someone like me, who doesn't know about turning wood. It really helps me understand exactly what you're using, and doing. Thanks for such great content.
I like your voice over; your voice is easy to listen to, your instructional demeanor is greatly appreciated plus your talent and art work is breathtaking❣️
I enjoy the voiceovers! A lot of the times I turn off the sound on other videos but I want to learn your art and I find you informative and easy to listen to.
Of all the projects I watch you make on your channel, this one is my favorite so far. That could change any time down the road as you are a creative genius. I loved the look of the copper ring around the color and the little different sized filler branches added some character and personality too. I absolutely love the bright, sunshiny look of the maple wood. I don't understand what a lot of the terms you were using about the wood or its grain, but whatever all that meant, I still love the bowl and HOW LUCKY is Molly to have won such a fine piece. I'm going to go watch your "orange crush" bowl video next.
I love the added copper with the resin, I’d love to see a light blue pearl , purple pearl, a bit darker blue pearl, red pearl With some walnut pieces and like a sunset or sunrise color poured over it I think that’ll be beautiful! Great job on this bowl 😊
As a retired plumber turned woodturner as a hobby this one with the copper pipe really appeal to me .and I have plenty of copper pipe and fittings plus plenty of cracks in my bowls. To have a go . Brilliant video
Jim you are adding value and thanks for the voice overs! If people think you talk to much they can choose to watch something else! I have learned a lot from you. Keep up the good work!
The bowl looks fantastic. The combination of copper pipe and different colored resins is amazing. The voice overs are a great educational resource for someone looking to start turning, (me). Thank you for all the great advice.
Hi Jim, another great piece! By the way I think the voice-overs are great. I watch a number of woodturners on TH-cam and in my opinion your videos are the easiest to watch due to the quality of your sound mixing. Thanks for sharing.
Don't let people get you down! Your commentary and experience are why so many of us are subscribers and return viewers. Your insight in addition to your skill set is wonderful. Keep it up and do what makes you happy.
I appreciate the mix of voice over and the bits of real time, best of both worlds. Your conversational way of voice over is excellent to learn from!
Thank you very much!

I enjoy the voiceovers! A lot of the times I turn off the sound on other videos but I want to learn your art and I find you informative and easy to listen to.
Great! Thank you very much
congrats to Molly. I'm jealous, it's a beautiful bowl.
Thanks 😊

congratulations Molly!!
Thanks 😊
Awesome bowl.
I need to coment a lot more.
Molly is a lucky girl.
Thanks!
Lucky winner! It's a beautiful bowl, Jim. I just love the copper!
Thanks 😊
Of all the projects I watch you make on your channel, this one is my favorite so far. That could change any time down the road as you are a creative genius. I loved the look of the copper ring around the color and the little different sized filler branches added some character and personality too. I absolutely love the bright, sunshiny look of the maple wood. I don't understand what a lot of the terms you were using about the wood or its grain, but whatever all that meant, I still love the bowl and HOW LUCKY is Molly to have won such a fine piece. I'm going to go watch your "orange crush" bowl video next.
Awesome, thank you so much!
I love the added copper with the resin, I’d love to see a light blue pearl , purple pearl, a bit darker blue pearl, red pearl With some walnut pieces and like a sunset or sunrise color poured over it I think that’ll be beautiful! Great job on this bowl 😊
Thank you very much!
As a retired plumber turned woodturner as a hobby this one with the copper pipe really appeal to me .and I have plenty of copper pipe and fittings plus plenty of cracks in my bowls. To have a go . Brilliant video
Lol, thanks for watching! Copper worth a small fortune now!
Jim you are adding value and thanks for the voice overs! If people think you talk to much they can choose to watch something else! I have learned a lot from you. Keep up the good work!

Hi Jim, another great piece! By the way I think the voice-overs are great. I watch a number of woodturners on TH-cam and in my opinion your videos are the easiest to watch due to the quality of your sound mixing. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome, thanks for watching!
