      It was a fail though. The thumbnail was more of the dramatic side that was appealing lol.

    Use dawn dish detergent to clean all that oil up ,I just pour a lot spread with a little water and scrub w a old broom. Leave it sit for a few days rinse w water hose good as new

    Every time I change the oil I put the oil cap on the gage cluster and the drain plug and new filter next to the new oil. This insures every step gets done and in the right order.

      The gauge cluster inside the car?

  • @rainsfall2494

    Why'd you need the swivel

    • @carsalan1811
      @carsalan1811  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No specific reason for the swivel it's just a longer ratchet more leverage and since I couldn't get underneath all the way to the drain plug and oil filter housing so the size of the ratchet helps me to open without any issue. That swivel doesn't lock but it did the job. As you see I stretch my arm under the car to open up both filter and drain plug. Good observation thanks for the support.

    Did you have a leak with the double washer?

    • @carsalan1811
      @carsalan1811  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No luckily not it was sealed well. I will be doing another oil change on that corolla real soon and I will update you when I drain the oil I will inspect the oil pan for leaking around the plug. Thanks for supporting my channel. 👍

      Just did the next oil change on the car and no leaks and there was no double copper washer it's a fixed looking washer on the oil pan. Thanks for the love and support. Godbless.

      DIY comes with its challenges, I've also worked at shops and you don't want to hear some of the many stories that happen just from a simple oil change.

    There was two copper gaskets on the drain plug, the old one was stuck to the pan.

    • @carsalan1811
      @carsalan1811  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly I cant remember at this point but good observation if it was there I made sure to wipe the area down a few times im surprised it wouldn't have fell off but its not half as bad as a double gasket for a canned oil filter that's a disaster waiting to happen. Thanks for the comment and make sure to subscribe if you haven't done so already.

      I just did another oil change on the same car and there was no second copper washer there is something on the pan that looks like a washer but its fixed to the pan. Thanks for the love and support. Godbless.

    I've never, and no one I know has ever changed the oil when it was hot from just being driven. The reasons being
    1) why would you ?
    It's HOT, you risk being BURNED.
    2) Hot metal expands
    making the filter harder to turn
    3) Why not just wait and change the oil when the car has been sitting for a while and the oil has fully drained down to the pan? 🤤
    4) It's HOT, you could get BURNED !
    Yeah, I got your Badda Bing!

    • @carsalan1811
      @carsalan1811  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't mean extremely hot i meant hot enough to get a good flow, because in the winter time it doesn't have a good flow. Thanks for the comment and support. Make sure to subscribe if you haven't done so already.

      You want to drain while the oils is hot because all the contaminants are in suspension. When cold the impurities settle to bottom of pan and they do not come out with oil.

    • @PappiH
      @PappiH 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Always drain the oil when hot/warm. Never cold.

      The drain plug fell into the drain. I'm not going to cut out the entire drain pan surface, because I use it for home. No need to bad mouth an experienced tech.
