    Trivia: What I meant with “1959 Volvo starting year” is that they introduced the three-point-seat belt in that year as the very first manufacturer :)Volvo was founded in 1927 btw.

      The car looks amazing, I hope they make a convertible version of it... or at least a coupe.

      In 1927 they were in such a hurry to finish the 1st car that at the press meeting they had to back the car in.It would only go in reverse because someone put the gears in incorrectly.

    Volvo is really pushing out one great car after another. Great Design. Even as a german, I would prefer a new Volvo over Audi, BMW, Mercedes. Unfortunately, I'm a poor student. They just look so nice and exclusive. I hope they carry on and are successful.

    The "too much touch screen" solution is not easy at all while driving. So dedicated physical buttons for volume, activating camera , temperature control are much much easier and without looking with just the feeling of the button the driver can reach out to change the settings. I really like the Mercedes solution approach for this aspect ( so we are old school 😅)
    Good review as always !!

    Thomas, as always, a far better critique than others in your profession. But I have to say that when criticising the functionality of the touch-screen control panel, you fail to mention Voice Command. Once all the safety functions and settings have initially been set up, one rarely needs to use the touch screen. For example you can press the voice button on the steering wheel and say 'temperature 21' - the temperature changes to 21. This can be done for seat heating, steering wheel heating, inputting navigation instructions, changing the radio station, etc etc !! One just has to learn the terms to use which are contained in the owner's manual. Eyes can then be kept on the road. 😀

      Thanks! I did mention that in the latest Volvo reviews. Still, for me personally its even easier to turn knobs than to talk :)

    Hi Thomas and Autogefuhl. I want to share my personal experience with this car and make some points. My father owns this car since October (we had 2 S80 previously). It is a S90 T5 Incription, 2.0 turbo petrol engine with 254hp, as you know, Mussel Blue, 19-inch wheels, ventilated/heated-massaged blond Nappa leather seats, linear walnut inserts and some more options. Total cost of this car was 67K € here in Spain.
    We are so happy with this car. Talking about prizing, this car is about 6K-12k € cheaper with equivalent equipment than A6, 5 Series, E-Class or XF models. Elements like Led headlights, leather seats, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, Pilot Assist, 9-inch screen or digital instrument panel are standard in Spain. And the quality of the car is amazing (materials, riding, ...)
    Talking about the engine, we are doing 8 liters per 100 km in 15.000 km we have the car, very good figure in my opinion, considering it's a very powerful engine, smooth, ... for such a big car (big wheels too, 255/40 R19).
    And about the car in general, very attractive (people like it a lot and turns a lot of heads in streets)
    I want to make 2 points to your excelent review:
    - You can activate 360º camera when you engage reversing gear (you have to go to the menu options and select "activate 360º cameras when engage reversing gear")
    - By 2021, Volvo will not sell anymore Diesel Engines.
    Thanks a lot and continue doing such those greats reviews. Cheers from Spain!

      And next time at least with R-Design microfibre on the inside of the seats =)

      +Tomás García Martínez - nice description of your car. Quite a big change from an S80? Which gives the comfiest ride?

    • @Tomygarmar
      @Tomygarmar 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Such a big change: we had 17-inch wheels in the S80 and 19-inch in the S90 and the S90 is a bit more confortable (the S80 was it also), more noise insolation, better quality and materials, tech ... Very big step

    Those who say that they do not like the 4 cylinders in Volvo line up can buys other brands that provide bigger engines with more cylinders. Volvo cars are not all about engine powers but are focused on safety, fuel efficiency, and premium craftmanship. Different buyers buy different brands depending on their likes. So there is no need to bash on Volvo for going for their heritage and unique characteristics.

    • @mkkoper
      @mkkoper 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me Volvo heritage and unique characteristics means 5 cyl. engines. Maybe I am biased as I have 2 volvos with these great engines.

  • @GBIGBIGBI
    @GBIGBIGBI 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    You''re not old-school with the separate knobs for AC. I firmly believe that it is way safer to have it the old way rather than this fancy way. Changing the temperature via the knobs takes only a few seconds and you don't even have to look away from the road. Volvo should realise that it is not safe with their new way and revert back to the older and safer way.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @romanpuhek9580
      @romanpuhek9580 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Oh come on guys!
      How many times do you adjust the temperature? Every 10 minutes? I do it once a month. A/C stands for Automatic climate control - so you do not have to do it yourself manually.
      In addition new Volvos have voice control that does it without a single touch.

    • @GBIGBIGBI
      @GBIGBIGBI 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You're right. When I'm travelling alone I rarely adjust it.
      On the other hand when traveling with the family I adjust it every 30 minutes if not more often. :-)

    • @FinleyESB
      @FinleyESB 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Voice control takes care of the climate, no need to touch anything

  • @cricho15

    Hi Thomas, very good choice for a review. The Design is far better and over all more progressive than most of the german rivals. I drove the V90 to replace my Insignia CT but i had the same issue as you had. I really don't think it's a good idea to have only a touch solution for the climatecontrol. For me - it's a no go.

    Too bad that You didn't try some more accelerations to higher speeds. My parents have D4 190hp engine in xc60 and it is pretty silent as you mentioned, not too bad performance, but the 8spd gearbox which is the same as in this s90 is still lazy in harsher accelerations and you do feel the gear changes. The DSG is the best in those situations.

    • @danI43541
      @danI43541 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Łukasz Stasierowski well a DSG isn't mandatory because normal autos can be really good (Alfa Giulia, Audi S4) but in this case.. a generic DSG would be better

    Interessantes Review, leider wurde kaum auf die Sportsitze eingegangen, in den meisten anderen Modellen sind praktisch immer die Komfortsitze eingebaut. Gerade das ist m.E. ein großer Unterschied, der Rest ist ja viel Optik. Wenn es hier Erfahrungen, relevante Unterschiede gibt, vielleicht einmal ein eigenes Review zu den Volvositzen. Sollten in den 90er Modellen ja alle recht identisch sein. Mich würde es freuen.

      Merci! Hm, wir sprechen doch immer in detail über die Sitze - hast du dir alles angesehen?

      Das nenne ich eine zügige Antwort, Respekt! Da ich aktuell in der Warteposition für meinen S90 bin, sehe ich mir Eure Videos grundsätzlich sehr intensiv an. Nebenbei, ich bin Fan der Momentumausstattung und finde es klasse, dass hier regelmäßig erwähnt wird, es gibt gute, günstige Varianten, wobei ich die Optionsliste ziemlich benutze habe.
      Vielleicht erwarte ich einfach etwas anderes, denn Ihr beschreibt sehr schön alles Mögliche, aber bei den Sitzen, sie sind komfortabel, es gibt Seitenwangen für den Seitenhalt und optionale Microfaserbahnen und etwas Sitzeinstellung. Der unterschied beim Fahren, Langstreckentauglichkeit, wie ist der Vergleich bei Kurvenfahrten zwischen den Komfort- und Sportsitzen etc. das fände ich sehr interessant. Beim Fahrwerk macht Ihr ja ähnliches.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also wer Geld sparen möchte, sollte einfach bei den Basis-Sitzen bleiben mit Stoff - die sind schon sehr komfortabel. Generell kann man mit Volvo-Sitzen nix verkehrt machen. Die R-Design-Sitze wären dann, wenn man viel Geld für nen hohen trim ausgeben möchte

    • @matthiasmuller5173
      @matthiasmuller5173 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bei Motor-Talk.de gibt es gerade rund um die 90er Reihe eine Diskussion über starke Qualitätsschwankungen der Sitze, manche spüren sehr deutlich eine Kante, manche nicht.
      Mir gefällt Momentum gut, gerade die Endrohre ohne Blenden am Heck und Innen habe ich Luxus genommen, außer der 4 Zonenklima, die fände ich klasse, aber Privacyverglasung ist für mich ein Nogo, dafür den D4, der ist hierzulande ausreichend. Mal sehen, wann er geliefert wird, vor 5 Wochen ging die Bestellung raus.

      Jo Momentum würde ich auch nehmen, in den höheren trims wird er einfach viel zu teuer!

    How often do you change temperature if you have a climate control?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      some leave it 22 degrees C and auto and A/C on. Others like to change AC on/off or temperature, depends on your habits. It seems there are "auto AC" guys and "manual AC" guys =)

    • @zedzedski7382
      @zedzedski7382 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      True about manual and auto AC guys but if you leave 22C and Auto - the A/C turns on and off accordingly. I just leave the desired temperature and just forget it. So rare when I change it.

    Also 4 Zylinder finde ich ja an und für sich nicht schlimm und bis ca 190 PS geht das auch in den "großen" Autos klar (520d, A6 190PS, E220d) und diese Motorisierung wird auch populär sein aber keine Sechszylinder finde ich schade... die haben halt eine bessere Laufruhe und der Verbrauch dürfte nicht viel höher sein.. und naja trotz Turbo, Kompressor (was mit wartungstechnisch sehr kompliziert scheint :D) ist Hubraum durch nichts zu ersetzen :D aber alles ist gut solange die keinen Dreizylinder da reinschmeißen aber der Downsizing Trend scheint ja laaaannnggsam zu schwinden

      I think the rear looks better "in real life". It has a convex style that impoves the appearance of the back. If you are intrested, take a look at the car IRL also. :)

    • @verliebt3465
      @verliebt3465 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      if all 3 are the same price and about same optional extras then the Volvo doesn't stand a chance.
      the e-class with the designo interior package is irresistible , and the 5-series will be a lot more sporty than this Volvo while offering better interior quality, some owners of the new s/v90s complained about squeaking noises, rattling sounds in their brand new cars.
      85.000 € is the starting price of an M550i with xdrive. even without the options, that is a much desirable car than a volvo

    Some huge design flaws in the front and backside, for instance the lines of the hood do not match the lines of the head light units at all. In my opinion a stupid mistake and I do not like the car due to these flaws. Also the build quality of the interior seems more like an ancient french car. The plastic carbon looks cheap and seems to overlap the vents in the middle. At least no clear lines like in an e class or 5 series. Volvo looks to me by no means premium anymore. Pity because I used to like the big volvo stations but this one is a no go. Thanks for the review Thomas.
