My opinion
The exterior and interior design of the Volvo is beautiful!
IFK Götet indeed it is and with the T8 engine I test drove last week kicking out over r00hp, very impressive. I’m not keen on the back of the car though.
@@wiiori4618 I used to think that but now I see it more as a futuristic design. An angular tail end with the alluring curves of the front makes it a fusion in design language of masculine and feminine in perfect harmony........ but that is just my opinion.

The S90 is such a classy car yet so underrated.. interior and exterior.. it has a timeless design, while all the german competitors (except the A6.. but not for long) are already outdated. I mean look at that 5er.. or E-Class with all it's tablets..
I have a s90 inscription and it's a beautiful car
Volvo should offer a 6-cylinder option. Not that I disagree that the 4-cylinder supercharged/turbocharged engine performs well. It's just that is what sedan buyers expect in this level of vehicle. For some reason, they don't care as much in the SUVs.
All are amazing, literally only thing that can decide is someone personal preference. For me BMW or Volvo.
This video is a classic that I love revisiting for some reason. Cheers on the quality work Thomas and thank you for all.

Well I drive BMW 540, so I know what my answer is, never liked Audi front, Volvo S90 is only available as long wheel base in the US, so a bit too long for I need, plus as good as the Volvo front look the back side is no go (mainly the rear light), I didn’t like the slope in E class either it works on S class but proportional looks off a bit off for E class for me
5 series is the ugliest of the bunch hands down ... , im e220d driver , and audi is best looking... but have no experience with driving and quality

Love it. I prefer the Audi's minimalist and sharp design, but I have never driven any of these except a 5-Series (which was a pleasure). I'd like to see a "luxury coupe" comparison - maybe comparing Audi TT, Merc C-Class Coupe, Lexus LC, BMW 4? Also, I know you've joked about a "car.s.m.r", but for real...do one.

What has happened to the 550i version in Europe? Is the engine non-compliant anymore? Not able to configure it for months. Will they bring it back?
VOLVO the top for design even being the oldest one 💪 and AUDI for the technology ; normal it's the newest.

He nailed it when he said that Audi and Volvo had the sensual design. Personally I think I would melt anywhere near the S90. Whoever designed that deserves a promotion and a raise. I’m trying to think when was the last time there was anything out there that looked this seductive....
On my last trip to Europe I went to München and rented the new Audi A6, after watching this video. I absolutely loved it!! What impressed me where all the upgrades and the technology options. I now definitely want an A6 with all the upgrades when it comes time to replace my Mercedes E Class here in Canada in a few years time, and hopefully Audi offers all the technology options here. Quite a few times the rules and regulations regarding car technology lags a bit behind Europe in Canada, as the Canadian government is trying to keep a middle ground between the dated rules of the USA and the forward looking rules of Europe.

I was expecting Audi A6 vs E class 220 or lower petrol model. The E class AMG model is quite different.

You need to introduce your co-drivers ... I kept catching a glimpse of what appeared to some very shapely legs there in the passenger seat (in the Audi specifically). Great review... very useful information... the A6 seems nice and quit too... but so expensive :(

Thomas, I would love to see you test the "what happens if you don't take back control, when prompted to" by autonomous driving systems. Find an empty private street with no cars and no people around and see what happens. I had a chance to test out the new A6 and I found it very intriguing how it has different stages of making sure you take over control. First it warns you with a message on the screen with a countdown timer. Then, if you ignore the countdown timer and it reaches 0 it begins screaming at you with warning sounds. Then, if you ignore that for long enough the car will start to pump the brakes to physically shake you and wake you up if you fell asleep. Finally, if you ignore that too it will turn on the flashing hazard lights and come to a complete stop. I wonder if it would pull all the way to the right hand side on a motorway before coming to a stop?

Audi A6 all the way. The interior is far ahead of the other in this class and the strong lines and aggressive look of the exterior are just 😍

Hi Thomas, I’m an fan of your good work. you never mention the impact of the division between sits. For a tall person, doesn’t allow to leg spreading, reducing comfort. Even worst at Mercedes that the format penalizes long legs due to the logarithmic lines.

Another "gourmet" video from Thomas and Autogefuhl team ...Let's GO!...and take the MERCEDES...most comfortable, space on back, interior and exterior design with great power.
Audi A6 wins for me, and I currently own a Mercedes E Class so I am no biased to Audi. I took a trip to Europe and had a chance to drive the new A6 for a week and WOW it impressed the heck out of me. Yeah it doesn't look elegant, luxurious and sleek on the outside, and the inside has way to much shiny cheap plastic, but the technology and the ride is OUT OF THIS WORLD compared to the E Class. The instrument cluster being able to change on to a 3D satellite map of the world places it alone at least 15 years ahead of any car out there right now. Meanwhile the Mercedes has class and elegance in design, but what's all that without impressive technology in this day and age? And in the E Class the way the new digital cluster kind of just stick out there in front of the steering wheel like an afterthought where they just stuck a tablet there is not cool - at all. I prefer the more traditional embedded style of the new Audi digital cluster.

In Germany, are there no speed limits in small residential areas? It looks like you were going 50+ mph by houses while in the Audi. It kinda gave me anxiety.

I went for the Volvo after watching and I couldn't be more enthusiastic about a car purchase. The kids love the space in my S90L which was not mentioned in this video, and the model i got has a full panoramic roof. Acceleration is tidy in any mode and the turbo whistle is just enough to let the others know it means business. I've had several BMW and Audi cars over the last twenty-five years and sorry not sorry they didn't make the grade this time for a family saloon. I'm not paying M-badge or AMG money for less everyday comfort and grandeur. Not that they are not fantastic in their own right but IMO too much maintenance and focus on driver satisfaction vs family feel if you will. I put a set of 20" KoKo wheels on it and ceramic coated the entire body with a fluid film treatment on the underbody. Upgraded the tires to Falken nighthawks and tinted the windows limo black. It's been a fun commuter and business vehicle so far. going out for dinner with the entire roof open has been a treat.

Comprehensive review, thank you. Audi and Volvo have put too many functions on touchscreens. BMW has the best controls with button shortcuts, and also has the best dynamics with the best handling. So, BMW will be my choice.

Fair point. Audi's interior is beautiful but you'll use the cloth a lot to clean the screen and shiny black plastics inside of it. I do like buttons more.

For people who want to know who won: the Audi A6 is the overall winner.
Based on Thomas’ review the Audi seems to be the most balanced in all categories.
I would still drive all of them maybe except for the Volvo.
Why would not drive the Volvo? It’s not a bad car, nice interior and quite performant. Not that it’s my preference but curious
more bang for buck with Volvo, in South Africa at least. Volo comes with most technology and features as standard. The base prices are also much cheaper. More value
I swear they got bored when they were making Volvo...it looks absolutely beautiful from front, but the back of this car just ruins everything for me...those rear lights are disqusting...if only those rear lights looked slightly better I would definitely consider buying this car

Difficult to access with these luxry cars. Only way to know is to try them, unfortunately, and even then the decision is not easy!
Audi A6 has the double glass and is as quiet as my Lexus LS 460….quieter than the BMW540….I would say Audi is the quietest in this group

With the BMW M-Performance and the Merc E63 both with the 8 cylinder, I think you need to wait until Audi gets the 2019 S6 for a fair comparison of performance.

The engine in the Audi is mounted so much more forward compared to the rest. Poor weight distribution
But much easier when it comes to maintenance and service. I hate changing spark plugs and ignition coils near the firewall.
LPG-gas fuel is very clean, cheap and in some countries very popular
Volvo designer said they're looking at materials beyond leather and plastics. The most expensive XC90s offer a fine wool seat option. Polestar is offering a "vegan" interior in the Polestar 2 and they use the same platforms and designers as Volvo (although there is a leather option). I enjoyed the Audi taking the turns. It seems so fluid and didn't even thump over the road imperfections. The AMG Mercedes was too intense. The M sport packaged BMW was nice but I don't like engines bigger than 6 cylinders in this day and age. V8 and bigger is overkill and wasteful. I agree, the real M may be just too much performance for most people. Thanks!
