According to my calculations, if this train collided with something while moving at 60 km/h it would unleash energy of a small atomic bomb.
Here are the calculations:
Average wagon length is approximately 17 meters. So this train would have a bit more than 2470 wagons. Each wagon weights ≈130 tons if fully loaded. This would bring the weight of the train to 321100 tons. So, train while moving at 60 km/h would have potential energy of (321100000×17^2)/2 = 46398950000 joules (calculated by formula (m×v^2)/2). Upon collision this energy would appear as the kinetic energy of flying remains of whatever was close and just heat. For comparison, the power of a bomb dropped on Nagasaki was 21 kt of tnt.
Edit: I forgot to include power of *the train* in kilotons: 11 kt of tnt.

That assumes the train instantly stops the moment it hits an object, while in reality it would just plow through anything in its path without slowing down much. But the math does check out if that assumption is used.
@@alexsiemers7898 Yes, it assumes that train collided with an indestructible object. Also it assumes that the train is an object itself, but in fact trains are a lot of wagons connected together.
Edit: Not only this, but the effect of collision would not be similar to a nuclear explosion. Most of the energy would appear just as train moving in different direction. Not very big piece of it would become heat.
It would be more like a tsunami of wagons rather than an atomic bomb.
Also the train is relatively speaking not particularly dense, so when crashing into something more dense a good deal of the energy would be dissipated in the crushing of the train itself.
