- JS class 2-8-2 number JS6243, hauls a heavy train of limestone from the quarry at Yangjiaoxiang, over a range of hills and to the factory in the city of Huludao on the East China Sea coast. The condtion of the locomotives on this line meant that every train had to stop at the summit of the climb to build steam up again. This usually took around 10 minutes. A feature of the line was the use of turntables to turn the locomotives at each end of the line. Turntables are not common in China. Sadly, the line within Huludao is no more. The cement factory it served is demolished and there are blocks of flats built on some of the former trackbed. The quarry still operates and stone is shipped out by rail using diesels. The turntable at Yangjiaoxiang is still in place. Filmed in June 2004.

And once again ... thank you very much!
Once again, fantastic video!!!
Really nice video, Nothing more refreshing than to see a Steam Engine at work......and a man cutting the grass on an embankment with a herd of goats.
Very nice respect to you from india i love to watch train and i can't believe it's from china
Thank you. China around 20 years ago was a paradise for any fan of steam locomotives ... Andy
Look how excellent the condition of the rails are in.
The rail system in China is always very well maintained. The decision to keep steam power is purely economical (they have vast quantities of coal) and because they don't care about the environment !
awesome, very nice.
Thanks Tim. Sadly these sights are now gone.
God train
I guess you mean "good train" .... I agree !
nice
Thanks again Manohar.
