  • Dr. Bad-Boon had a trap waiting for Aiai--a shrink ray! Not a death ray, mind you--he still wants to marry Meemee, and it'd do him no good if she's dead. Then again, to a creep like Dr. Bad-Boon, you'd think he'd be okay with marrying a dead monkey. Well, I guess he prefers her boiled rather than fried, because he sends her, Aiai, and the other two to a big kettle.
The next set of stages are set here--and this is where Dr. Bad-Boon's mazes make NO sense whatsoever. He's dumping Aiai, Meemee, Baby, and Gongon into the pot (all of whom having lost their ability to fly, I guess). The mazes would allow them to escape. Why would he suspend these ten mazes above his pot? Furthermore, he built them tiny, as if he knew they'd get shrunken down. It's not as if he likes watching them suffer either, as the doc is absent when Aiai is going through them. Oh well. We all know this story is just an excuse to have Aiai go through them.
There are none of those "infamous" stages here in World 6, but you could feel the increasing difficulty just by watching this. Well, there is one infamous stage, and boy, were people annoyed by this one! With stages like these, I'm sure you can now understand how I managed to clear all of the ball-rolling challenges in Super Mario Galaxy (both games) in one try:
    6-1 Combination (Difficulty: 8)
    6-2 Punched Seesaws (8)
    6-3 Opera (5)
    6-4 Brandished (5)
    6-5 Tiers (5)
    6-6 Cliffs (9)
    6-7 Narrow Peaks (9)
    6-8 Detour (5)
    6-9 Switch Inferno (9)
    6-10 Folders (2)
    Average: 6.5
The aforementioined infamous stage would be Switch Inferno, by the way. There are 64 switches here. 29 of them activate a wall on the left that shoves your little monkey into the stew pot. Another 29 activate a wall on the right that does the same thing. There are 6 switches that raise the goal above ground so you can actually reach it, the nearest one from the entrance to the area being on the third row you'll come across, second from the right. However, each time you press a switch, all other switches of that type will activate--so you really only need to experiment around, then observe carefully to see which switches weren't pressed down.
If you're wondering, "Opera" is named for opera stairs.
