    Great build. The one thing I wouldn't risk is the cheap stem. Those bolts love to snap. Smart using the fire extinguisher as a booster.

      Thanks! and this is true and I knew this about the bolts on that stem from reviews, I switched them for good quality bolts when I got it and no issues so far :)

    Very relaxing video, thank you ! What grips did you put on ?
    I'm surprised you didn't use a ZRACE derailleur/shifter to keep it even cheaper.
    Are the rotors from Aliexpress ?

    • @MTBfixHQ

      My favorite grips, they are replicas of the ergon GA2 fat grips, they cost $10 on aliexpress and they are actually good quality and hold up well, I purchased like 6 pairs lol. Personally I am not a fan of cheap derailleur and shifters so I would never use anything but shimano and sram for that, I had a spare 10 speed XT derailleur and got the shimano shifter for $25 and shifting is really crisp and precise considering im using that very cheap cassette. Also yes the rotors are from aliexpress, they are the cheapest centerlock rotors I could find and I am very happy with them, but they need to be matched to a good set of brake pads and I also found the best pads on aliexpress that work even better then shimano GA02 pads in my case for all my different rotors. All the links are in the description if you are interested!

    Boost frame and no boost crankset?
    Nice video!

      That is correct :) only difference is a few mm to the chainline, makes very little difference

    Nice I was thinking of doing this myself. How much was the total cost of the bike?

    • @MTBfixHQ
      @MTBfixHQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly I dont remember the full price, but the whole reason I made this build is because trifox had 3 frames for $99 in a flash sale and i got lucky to purchase one!

      @@MTBfixHQ Nice. The flash sale was on their site? Was it just random or something

    Great build! What was the specific bottom bracket you used? And is it bb73 or bb68? I've seen different specs online (Trifox's lists bb68).

    • @MTBfixHQ
      @MTBfixHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the bottom bracket came with the cranks, its basically the cheapest one you can buy lol but it seems to work fine, i just measured the frame and its 73mm wide

    Ciao sei italiano? A parte questo dettaglio, solo per decidere se scriverti in italiano o inglese, vorrei sapere come si comporta questo telaio in un uso gravoso come le gare di XC

      Sorry I built this mostly as a backup bike, I ride a 2017 scott spark rc 900 pro and I really love the bike so I have only ridden this bike a couple times and it was mostly road riding so I cannot give a good answer to your question

    How is the frame so far?

    • @MTBfixHQ
      @MTBfixHQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      I built this bike as a backup / spare bike so its only been ridden 4 times and so far, no issues yet

  • @iseeker3845

    I bought the frame too! What brake mounts did you need? I'm getting slx m7100 brakes. Or if I get 160/180 rotors do I not need brake mounts?

    • @MTBfixHQ
      @MTBfixHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rear of the frame uses 160mm rotor size, so if you use 160mm on the back you will not need any brake mount, for the front it all depends on the fork you are using, some forks use 180mm standard while others use 160mm standard so you might need a 160-180mm brake mount for the fork if you want to use 180mm up front

    • @iseeker3845
      @iseeker3845 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MTBfixHQ really appreciate it. I'm going to use 160 back and 180 upfront. Should work great.

  • @iseeker3845

    😅one more: what is the chainline? I just bought some XT cranks online M8120 version as I saw a good price, but I'm guessing this frame doesn't need the extra spacing and it might make the chainline too angled. What do you think? M8100 or M8120?

    • @iseeker3845
      @iseeker3845 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      BTW - I looked at your cranks, and the spindle measures 122mm, which is close to the 121mm of the m8120 cranks. My guess is either works but if you can get away with (i.e. - if the chainring fits) the short spindle then better given angle of chainline.

    • @MTBfixHQ
      @MTBfixHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iseeker3845 Honestly I am not sure what the chainline is but I am pretty sure either of those cranks will work just fine, if you really want to know the chainline you might be better off asking trifox directly. My guess is the m8100 probably lines up a little better to the center of the cassette compared to the 8120, good luck!

    • @iseeker3845
      @iseeker3845 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MTBfixHQ I agree. m8100 is likely better. Trifox was not helpful :). Thanks for taking the time to reply!
