Microphone Sound Test - Exhaust

We test out DJI wireless Microphones using the Blackmagic Cam app on the IPhone 15 Pro Max.
Even set at -12db gain the microphones would clip and distort, does utilising the Blackmagic apps gain adjustment do the job?
Test subject is a MY22 Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 with a Inconel 625 Brooke Racing Exhaust
