My Mic 2 and MI adapter arrived this weekend. My FX30's top cage completely blocks it, so at first, I designed a simple 3D printed adapter plate to mount the Tilta top cage further forwards. Unfortunately, the front of the cage goes way too far forward, so it wouldn't work. Then I integrated a NATO rail into it, and it's basically a top cage for an FX30/FX3! Did some testing with PLA and it needs someone to really want to break it to break it. Gonna try it in some Carbon Fibre plastic, but ultimately, I'd love Smallrig or Tilta to make one themselves.

Why would you do a review of a microphone where during the entire video you are holding the mic to your mouth, yet at the same time you are wearing a lapel mic on your shirt - so for the entire video people can’t tell what is producing the actual audio to the video 😳🤨
Hi there! thank you so much for the video, i have a quick question that i'm wondering if you or anyone reading this may know - i'm currently using the DJI Mic 2, and if I'd like to only do internal recording without a receiver at all, will the transmitter still be transmitting any local signals during recording (eg constantly trying to search or pair with a receiver)? We're filming in an environment where a safety protocol we have to follow is that there are no locals signals being transmitted at all from our devices during filming. thanks in advance!
Does these microphones date timestamp the recording and when you transfer the recordings from the device to your desktop does it keep the original date and time stamp? Because the road mics do not and that’s why I hate them.
I have a question about DJI Mic 2 I know the transmitters use Bluetooth using to the action and pocket Osmo but what is the protocol it uses to go from the receiver to the transmitter?

It’s not that it’s the actual orange 3.5 mm jack output. Now I’m nervous to buy another pair because if they broke so quick, what about five years down the road?
Does the saved audio from the transmitter sound better than the audio stored on the camera itself? While using a lav mic? Which lav mic would you recommend low to mid $ that would work best with wireless transmitter and osmo action 4?
No. The lav mic connects to the DJI transmitter, so you’re recording audio on the lav mic into the transmitter and the transmitter can also send to the receiver
Since these can operate individually as standard bluetooth mics, can you not just connect them to a phone with bluetooth and use the DJI app to change any setting, including enable 32bit float?
From what I’ve been reading while researching this system, nope. If you use a mic standalone you lose 32bit float and noise reduction, if you use BT you lose internal recording altogether. On a forum DJI support suggests going into a store and asking to use a receiver to change settings on the standalone mic.
@@ac1320 Oh wow, that seems like a major oversight from DJI, I hope this is fixable in software. That's also a strange decision to disable internal recording with BT as BT signal is much worse than the wireless system they use, that is disappointing to hear.
@@DigiDriftZone yeah 100% agree. The support agent says they’re working on it. Haven’t followed up but I would think just aggregate to existing app. But I’m no engineer or anything so I’m talking out my butt on this.
@@adventurepromo I hope this is something that changes, it's nice the Rode have an app, but it does require a physical connection the phone. DJI should hopefully be able to do this over bluetooth since the Rode doesn't have bluetooth.
Hi, recently I bought a DJI Mic 2 and I'm very disappointed because the only way to make the standalone recordings usable is to set the TX gain to +12dB, but they still have to be boosted a lot in post. I turned off the Low pass filter, I tried 32 and 24 bits, I tried everything but the records are still very quiet when I put the TX on my chest. Is it normal ? Does somoene managed to records something on a dji mic 2 without having to drastically boost in post ?
@@kylemeshnaYeah I made the updates :'( I saw that i'm not the only one having this issue. But no solution yet. I wanted to know it was normal for a pro mic since I'm new in sound devices, but now I know that it is absolutly abnormal ; thanks for the advice

@@kylemeshna What did Fredo heavy say? I find that hard to believe that one unit would have enough power to run a shure sm7b and another unit wouldn't. Was he using a different cable or?
@@kylemeshnaYes BUT he said he turned the pre amp off, which he claims makes it essentially a shure sm7b. Which Idk if is true, maybe even with preamp off the db might be easier to drive idk.

No. The lav mic connects to the DJI transmitter, so you’re recording audio on the lav mic into the transmitter and the transmitter can also send to the receiver
Very keen to see lav mic options for dji mic 2
Running the tests now!
7:08 any updates to this?
Im waiting for it too
Hi, Can anyone advice on a free effect/plugin for Premiere that can isolate the voice like he did in this example?
There's no app like you get with the Rode Wireless Go products. The DJI app is basically just a link to the DJI store.
@@adventurepromo I hope this is something that changes, it's nice the Rode have an app, but it does require a physical connection the phone. DJI should hopefully be able to do this over bluetooth since the Rode doesn't have bluetooth.
SmallRig Universal Cold Shoe Mount, Multi-Functional Shoe Adapter with Safety Release
That sounds very abnormal. Make sure you’ve updated firmware and if it’s still having issues reach out to DJI support
@@kylemeshnaYeah I made the updates :'(
I saw that i'm not the only one having this issue. But no solution yet.
I wanted to know it was normal for a pro mic since I'm new in sound devices, but now I know that it is absolutly abnormal ; thanks for the advice
Very helpful thank you very much
Dji lav mic is kinda good but yeaaah shure one was sure nice
Got a big comparison of a ton of Lav mics dropping tomorrow
I’m using dji mic 2 single transmitter without the receiver, the problem I’m facing is I do internal record on my mind when it comes about to transfer the file from my iPhone , literally I tried 50 times to connect the DJ Mike to my iPhone with type C to lighting port but there is nothing shown on my file manager please help me. I’m crying please please please please please please please please please please if anyone know why this happening to me please help me out please I don’t have money to buy the receivers so I just lost my money on transmitter cause I don’t have PC laptop anything please help me
...thats what she said... yep i heard that
Can the transmiter mic hook to your Android via Bluetooth?
Yes you can, but in my testing the audio over BT is not as "crispy" as using the receiver mounted/connected to the phone.
Is DJI Mic 2 compatible with EOS R8. Have anyone tried such setup?
Does it sound as good as the zoom f3 when recording with the shure sm7b? (as in comparing both recording with the same mic. The dji mic 2 has enough power to drive the shure sm7b I saw in a different video)
I have tried every configuration possible and even chatted with the folks that posted those SM7B+DJI Mic 2 videos... I haven't be able to get anything more than a muddled whisper out of the combo
@@kylemeshna What did Fredo heavy say? I find that hard to believe that one unit would have enough power to run a shure sm7b and another unit wouldn't. Was he using a different cable or?
he's using the Shure Sm7dB, which has the built in pre-amp. I only have the SM7B 😔
@@kylemeshnaYes BUT he said he turned the pre amp off, which he claims makes it essentially a shure sm7b. Which Idk if is true, maybe even with preamp off the db might be easier to drive idk.
Is there a reason your Audio quality and style changes the whole Video?
The background music is so annoying I wish you would cut it out. It became unbearable
I will Proudly say YES, I did lost my audio, and unfortunately not once...
But how about YOU? Or tell us biggest fail that happen to you in that regard?
Honastly I'm not poroud of that😅
falling off , one solution . NEEWER Cold Shoe Mount Adapter Compatible with DJI
Just got mine yesterday.
Documentation? sucks
Connector stability? sucks
BT pairing? lame
BT to Action3 no? sucks
BT to android? sucks
BT ear buds no? sucks
Other than that I love it!
Music is too loud. I came here to learn not to listen music.
I folded a piece of paper up thick enough to get a very snug fit.
oh that cold shoe mount issues is a really big issue for sure ... how stupid is that ... oh well ... not gonna get one I guess
Fixed it with a little tiny square of gaff tape in the cold shoe. Works perfectly now actually
@@kylemeshna pretty sad that you have to use "a square of gaff tape" for a 350 bucks device that supposed to be for professional use 😅
@@MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl agreed.
Smallrig safety cold mount shoe
On the mic tests... they all sounded the same
So the dji mic alone is more than enough
Wrong. Doesn’t work with Osmo action 3. Confirmed by Dji
hate? lol ok
