@@jaminmedia absolute noob here, bought go pro and dji mics, not happy with exhaust sounds so gonna save up and order this equipment. How do you link up with a go pro or what camera system do you recommend?
Fellow ISF owner here and I've always wanted to get my audio nailed down but it has seemed such a daunting prospect not knowing how to approach it. You have managed to address all of my questions in one video when it comes to equipment! I can't wait to watch the post processing video, which I'll be moving onto now. Thank you for being so helpful, I have a few friends that would love to have this kind of audio recorded and with your one video, I'm able to put that into action!
Learned something important like maximum spl, attachment device, position.. etc. I've tried with the 2 small pin mic and stereo to two mono audio via modified 3.5mm splitter cable, and zoom h1n. For the engine bay, I usually attached it close to the intake, but sometimes I do that near the battery to catch some transmission noises. Due to budget issues, I can't go any further with the equipment. But good to consider for the future upgrade. Thx for the huge help👍👍
I've got a h4n pro and a caterham 7 style car and I've been struggling to get good audio from my videos... Now I need to spend more money on the rode mics and get the job done... 😅... Really appreciate your work and explaining everything clearly.
Hey great video, I appreciate it. Clear and balanced audio is always very important and can make or break a video. It seems very difficult to achieve a good mix but you seem to have cracked the code. Thank you.
Love how thorough and clear you made this video with such a quality result. I think I'm going to buy an h4n pro black along with the mics you mentioned, can't wait!
I will get the rode M5 or NT5 exactly for the high spl to record exhaust Sound. Also because they are Cardioid pattern mics for XY or ORTF setups. I got good Omnidirectional mics as well but spl is "only" 120spl and for AB recording setups.
Fantastic breakdown. Really covers everything you could imagine and shows the professional way to do it. I will say that the exhaust track seems a little flat/fuzzy. Did you have to denoise it or something? Or perhaps the mic just doesn't get the full range of sound in that off-to-the-side position - maybe a longer arm allowing the mic to point more directly at the pipe would help. Then again, the sound could also be true to that car and just not what I'm expecting to hear.

You should definitely get you a zoom F3 32bit float Recorder. Makes recording so much easier because you don't need to set gain anymore. No clipping anymore with 32bit. Just hit record and go
Doing this same thing with a gopro and a media mod, what mic would you recommend? Going to be primarily used for drifting so i'm worried about audio quality with how loud it is.
What microphone would you recommend for my race car that can plug into my GoPro Hero 7 or 8? I also have side exhaust. Would love to put a microphone in the engine bay and possibly the side or back to pick up the side exhaust.
