Cat Stevens' Majikat - Earth Tour was recorded during his last legendary North American tour in 1976. It was an ambitious production involving live magicians, synchronized film projection and large innovative stage set. This was the ultimate tour of Cat Stevens before he quit the music business and became Yusuf Islam; he didn't perform on stage again for nearly thirty years.

I heard this song on the radio when I was driving home from the hospital to get my husband of 40 years home and in hospice. It gave me comfort because my husband lived the most incredibly selfless and kind life. I knew he would be going to a better place soon. He did a week later. He is lovingly looking over me now.

Cat Stevens voice, his songs - the lyrics and meaning in them (no superficiality here), his musicianship, the humbleness in which he sings, and sure, he was very good looking with that gorgeous long, flowing, dark, curly hair... ah, but I digress, but it's the songs.... songs last and Cat Stevens songs clearly sing into infinity.

I'm not so young anymore, but my goodbyes to people, places and good situations do not ever get easier. I do like to hang on a bit too long, willing to "patch" things or figure out a way to make the 'goodbye' something other than what it is. There is a feeling of loss, when something good ends; and things are not infinitely improvable, so the risk a young person takes is not always evaluated properly. Great song.

Probably one of the best years. A great summer for me. I've been playing this song on guitar since. It used to make me cry so much, I think it prepared me somewhat for losing my father, which I wasn't otherwise prepared for when it happened. I was able to keep it together for all the ongoing trials of my life. But.. morning has broken.
