There's one line in "Shiny" that has no right being that serious in a song like that. "Far from the ones who abandoned you, chasing the love of these humans who made you feel wanted."
In case you didn't catch it, the grandma was being kept alive by the Heart of Tafiti. When she gave Moana the Heart, her age finally caught up with her...
It's more that she had a commission to discharge before she went. The Heart itself wasn't keeping her alive, I don't think, but she had to pass on the knowledge of their people's past history as voyagers and the Quest to restore the Heart; or else she’d be leaving with unfinished business.

Not only did he do the singing, but Lin Manuel Miranda only wrote "You're Welcome" when he was told The Rock would be singing it, cause he knew no one else would still be charming with that song.
There's also an in-joke in the song 'You're Welcome', when he mentions that 'Maui can do anything but float'. Obviously a reference to Dwayne Johnson's nickname.
When I saw Moana the first time it was in theatres, and while the songs and the story are both awesome, the Animation is what amazed me most of all. Same with both Frozen 1 and 2. All 3 movies are ones I watch all the time, and people think I really like the movies, but mostly I just love watching every individual drop of water and strand of hair in Moana, and how you can see the individual stiches and threads of fabric in Elsa and Anna's clothing. Disney has really stepped up their animation game.

I was so excited when this came out because it was written by the guy who wrote Hamilton. And then finding out Christopher Jackson played the father. I couldn't wait. And this movie did not disappoint me. I love the message of this movie so much.
I love this movie and especially the music because it gives a great description of Island life and culture. I lived in Hawaii for 3.5 years, and I still carry that time with me today, people are genuine, and they truly love their land. And it's like that for most islanders... Samoans, Tahitians, Fijians, Hawaiians, all of them. You need to listen to some Hawaiian music, and not the touristy kind, real shit. It's so beautiful and inspirationsl. like this music.

Grams did have the heart of Te Fiti the entire time, keeping it safe for Moana, and in turn the stone kept her alive. When Grams gave the heart back to Moana, her life came to an end.
Your reaction was so fun! I’m not surprised you liked the music - Lin-Manuel Miranda (of Hamilton fame) wrote the lyrics for this. And Christopher Jackson (who originated the role of George Washington in the musical Hamilton) voices Moana’s father in this movie. :)
Only the singing voice. The speaking voice is Temuera Morrison, best known as Jango Fett/Boba Fett. 🙂 (He's actually not a bad singer himself but I guess the music was already written and outside his range? The only explanation I can think of why they'd not let him sing his own part when he definitely can sing!)
Fun Fact - the character Maui is actually based off a real legend. In New Zealand, their legend is that the North Island is Maui's boat and the South Island is a giant fish. The legend tells that Maui was fishing in his boat when he caught a fish, but it was actually the south island. And thats how the south island was made. I've been to NZ 3 times and I love their stories and legends.
I love this movie so much and own it with a bunch of extras that include how they researched the culture of several Polynesian islands making several trips to the islands! They wanted the movie to be as authentic as it could! The girl who voiced Moana and sang her songs, Auli’i Cravalho, wasn’t an actress when she got the part but was in a choir and she is from Hawaii! The crab was voiced by Jermaine Clement and Dwayne Johnson was Maui!

I love her overall aura and the way she nails what she needs to do.
My favorite part of All Together Now was "I told you I'd make you cry." I can't even explain it, but it hit me in the feels.
I think “Shiny” is one of my all-time favorite Disney songs, it’s just so fun and catchy and I always love a good Villain Song.
"Shiny" is that song that when you first hear it it's like "What is this" and then later you realize you didn't know you needed it until you hear it.
So you know that Lin Manuel Miranda was the songwriter for this movie, right? I'd love to see you do Atlantis the Lost Empire or Tarzan. #bingers
I came to the comments to tell him about Lin... The man is a musical genius!
Atlantis: the Lost Empire (not Kingdom)
Atlantis the Lost Empire
Opetaia Foa'i and Mark Mancina also did the composers of the movie.
Tarzan For the Win! Music of Phil Collins!
"Hey Hey needs to stay stay!" I think I died!
"I have crossed the horizon to find you"
Me Everytime:😭😭😭😭😭😭
More than once I've come home from work and my husband is mid-way through this film, singing along at the top of his lungs. He loves this one.
so excited you did this one, it's one of my favs, #bingers "Big Hero 6" is another and I think you'd love it
he's gonna like the part were the son is sneaking big hero upstairs scene and love the mother XD
@@mikaelerosecrans2093 absolutely, I think so too 😂
Please consider watching Heathers or Jawbreaker. Both are like Mean Girls with a weird slightly dark twist #bingers
Ooo I forgot about Jawbreakers, that used to be my movie!
omg yes watch Heathers #bingers
Heathers is one of my favs
Jawbreaker had me like: 😯🤭most of the time
Yess Heather's my beloved
Maui was played by The Rock just so you know lol and he even did the singing. Also can you pleeease do all the Toy Story movies, and also Ratatouille (pronounced ra-ta-tooey) is a great one as well that I think you'll love. #bingers
Not only did he do the singing, but Lin Manuel Miranda only wrote "You're Welcome" when he was told The Rock would be singing it, cause he knew no one else would still be charming with that song.
Yes to Ratatouille!! 😁
I also recommend he does wall e
There's also an in-joke in the song 'You're Welcome', when he mentions that 'Maui can do anything but float'. Obviously a reference to Dwayne Johnson's nickname.
I just came across this page by chance. I gotta say that I love your energy.

More fun facts: Where Maui Tried to get his powers back He transformed into Spewen from Frozen (hope it helped more too)
When this first came out on DVD, I watched it once a day for more than a month. I love it so much, and it never fails to get me out of a funk.
I always look forward to your commentary!
#bingers YES PLEASE DO HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME 😊
Coming next month
“Wanta wanta don’t you wanta Fanta Fanta don’t you wanta.” Completely took me out 😂😂
Moana changed something in me when I saw it. It immediately became one of those comfort movies for me. Your reaction to it is so wonderful, Billy. Thank you. ❤
PLEASE do hunchback of Notre Dame, you’re not READY for the songs and the messages
I'm so glad you watched this. Moana is an amazing movie with an incredible soundtrack!
When the chicken screams is the funniest thing. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius composer writer and lyricist
Alan Tudyk - Wat from A Knight’s Tale, Wash from Firefly, and the GODDAMN CHICKEN from Moana. Truly, an amazing actor.
Attempt 4 at requesting Disney’s Enchanted :) #bingers
Yesss!!
This was the perfect movie for billy, the positivity, the fun, the messages...I see billy enjoying this 🤩
I was so excited when this came out because it was written by the guy who wrote Hamilton. And then finding out Christopher Jackson played the father. I couldn't wait. And this movie did not disappoint me. I love the message of this movie so much.
I think my favorite thing about this movie is that it just has a large central focus on women helping women and it's so wonderful!
Crazy Rich Asians, Momma Mia (1 and 2), and if your felling like watching a series.. 👀 Avatar: the Last Airbender. #bingers
Mamma Mia, please #bingers
Crazy rich Asians 💕💕💕💕
Definitely on board with all of these!
Hei Hei needs to learn how to stay stay. I’m dead. I died laughing at that.
DO FROZEN 1 and 2 next and watch it right after eachother
The babies’ reaction when the grandma told them that story made me laugh so hard 😭😭😭
Whenever Billy realizes that Maui is Dwayne Johnson
Honestly the music in this movie is absolutely among the BEST disney has ever done
Lin Manuel Miranda also sings during "We Know The Way" with Opetaia Foa’i (who helped write the instrumentals for cultural accuracy). Also, #Bingers please watch Anastasia (1997)
13:53 They are actually baste on the guys from Mad Max.
17:58 Jemaine Clement is the big coconut crab, he played Nigel from the two Rio movies and Jerry (one of the Minions) from Despicable Me. That is why he sounds familiar.
19:32 Me imitating Robert Downey Jr. "If you are nothing with out that hook, the you should not have it."
Sees grandma dying: “it’s no way...it’s no way...”
It’s Disney...lol
So excited for this one!!! My family is Hawaiian and we’re all obsessed with it bc the lore is actually pretty accurate!
Grams did have the heart of Te Fiti the entire time, keeping it safe for Moana, and in turn the stone kept her alive. When Grams gave the heart back to Moana, her life came to an end.
#bingers An all time favorite of mine is Atlantis: The Lost Empire. If you haven't watched it before I highly recommend it.
Yes! Such a good movie! I hope he watches it
Lol "Two for flinching"
It’s the other way around cousin the South Island Te-waka-a-Maui (the boat of Maui) the north island Te-ika-A-Maui (the fish of Maui)
“Idk it’s something about grams I don’t know, but by the time I find out I’m not gonna like it” and then BOOM grandma dies 🤣💀😭 “ohhh noooo” lmaoooo
#bingers I am a huge Disney fan (and always have been) so here are some of my favorite Disney movies that I think would make good commentaries whether you've watched them or not)!
1. Raya and the Last Dragon
2. Zootpia
3. Big Hero 6
4. Brave
5. Wreck-it Ralf (1 and 2)
6. Aladdin
7. The Emperor's New Groove
8. Hunchback of Notre Dame
💕
Fun fact: there’s a famous theory that Moana didn’t make it and drowned when her foot was caught on coral and that Maui is her guardian angel guiding her to heaven, Tafiti means heaven I believe
Fun fact:
Pua the pig. Is actually the best friend of her father who came back as pig.
I LOVED this reaction! Thank you for watching it! I'll never forget being 16 when this movie came out and watching it for the first time with all my family and friends. The theater in Oahu was packed and I've honestly never had a better experience watching a movie for the first time. We were all in tears watching our culture come to life 💛
As for your question around the 20 min mark, in our culture our ancestors watch over us after passing. They become family guardians and come to us in their reincarnated forms as animals. They are our aumakua (hawaiian term). Grandma wasn't kidding when she said she'd come back as a manta ray to watch over Moana ☺
#bingers LOVED the reaction ❤️ you singing along and loving the grandma so much gives me joy.
Brave is my favorite animated movie, and I think it's criminally underrated - I would love to see you do that one!
Can you please watch next:
Dinosaur or
The Emperor’s New Groove.
Two of my favourite underrated Disney films growing up.
Your laugh is so dang infectious ❤ ABSOLUTELY love your positive energy 😊
After all ths time this movie still makes me bawl - it's so gorgeous visually and tells such a wonderful story, and anytime Auli'i sings it goes straight through my heart and into my soul 😭
How Far I’ll Go has to be one of those iconic Disney soundtracks you’ll never get tired or pissed off just by hearing it over and over again.
Me hearing the word "tahiti": it's a magical place
I understood that reference 😁

"It sucked."
I was laughing and crying at the same time lol
Lin Manuel Miranda is a genius
I’ve watched this movie so many times but seeing you react makes it a 100x better
You should look up a Haka dance. They're pretty interesting. That's what Maui is doing a couple of times in the movie.
Love it when people give 'Shiny' the respect it deserves 👌
I looooooove love love watching him reacting this disney movies that all of us love, and he seems to apreciate em as well! The songs in this movie are just amazing, lot of loves from Spain Billy!
You can react to Frozen next, even tho probably overrated, its still e great movie💗👍 worth watching it!
Hunchback is a great option too, its arguably the darkest Disney movie, i absolutely love it!!
Both of those coming next month!
@@BillyBinges frozen 2
@@BillyBinges Yeah you deff have to do Frozen 2 if you do Frozen. IMO Frozen 2 is insanely better than the first, but you need to see the first to get the context for the second.
Every time i hear the grandma sing i always got chills cause the songs were so touching
The crab is played by Jemaine Clement who is in “Flight of the Concords”, “Legion” and “What we do in the Shadows”... so u might’ve heard of him in one of those
