The correlation in the movie that I'm not sure if you made was the original story where the bear took Fergus's leg, Mourdu was the 4th brother. He took wanted a spell that made him king but the witch gave him the spell to change his fate like Merida gave to her mom. So its basically, you better mend that bond or her mom is the next Mourdu. Edit: ahh you got that at 28:25 lol
Thats, kind of, how I saw it too. There were four ways the "Mend the bond, torn by pride" line could be taken, and all four were addressed. 1st The physical tapestry, that Meirda cut. 2nd. The emotional bond between Mother and daughter that the had allowed to be torn by both being so stubborn and not listening to each other. 3rd. The bond of friendship between the four clans that were about to go to war over the insult Meirda had given to them. 4th. The bond of family and kinship that the prince had torn by wanting to take over the four kingdoms by becoming Mordou.
The tapestry the Meirda cut was one that the Mother had woven herself. They showed her putting the final stitches into it earlier. And not only would that have been years in the making, it would have been incredibly expensive. There were threads of gold woven into it. And when cut like that, there is no way to mend it without it being obvious that it had been cut and repaired. And the way she cut it, separated her Mother from her and her Father. It was a double insult to destroy a tapestry the depicted their family, and would, one day become an heirloom. As an aside, tapestries like that had a dual purpose. They were decorative art that livened up the bleak stone walls, but they also helped to keep the place a bit warmer. Stone castles like that were very drafty and often cold. Heavy, thick tapestries like that, helped to keep in heat and block some drafts.

To be honest I don't know why many people dislike the movie and Merida. I think is a nice story with a beautiful world, the animations still holds up after 10 years, and Merida went through a great character arc alongside her mother.
Because people forget what being a teenager is like. Merida is 16 years old, that's canon. She's literally a child. Being forced to marry. And I bet those princes were around the same age. But, she's the problem apparently. "Merida is annoying", "She's a princess she needs to do her duty", "She's a brat". No shit, she's a c h i l d. I'm not excusing all her behavior but, holy crap it's honestly sad and disappointing when I see people hating on teenagers just because they're being a freaking teenager.
Little detail: Most of the movie Elinor (the mom) wears her hair in tight braids but at the end she wears her hair in a half updo like in some way letting herself losen up a little bit I just like that a lot. And BTW yes Merida is part of the Disney Princess franchise despite being from Pixar (let's remember that Disney Animation and Pixar are two different studios but ultimately both owned by the Disney Company). Theres an official criteria for who is officially a Disney Princess and some other unofficial rules which leave great female characters like Jane, Esmeralda, Kida and others out of it.
@@katleona2101 well yes and no- at least in Esmeralda’s case. She was already initiated as an official Disney Princess with Jasmine, Pocahontas, Snow White Ariel, and the other girls in 2004, so she kind of bypassed the box office rule because she was so popular. She isn’t royal, and doesn’t marry royal even though a knight is a level of nobility so that one could be debatable, and has an animal sidekick; she was more on the levels of Mulan by doing an act of heroism. After a few months of trying to merchandise her, Disney said they were struggling to sell Esmeralda related items. They didn’t say why they were struggling besides Hunchback being a mature or darker film so kids didn’t connect with it, but it was pretty common knowledge you couldn’t shop the Esmeralda Princess dress outfit without the accusations of culture appropriation and selling too much of a sexy mature look to children. A lot of people weren’t a fan. The ladder is odd because if they were able to tone down Jasmine’s look they easily could have done the same to Esmeralda. So that they could have at least fixed- one problem out of two could have been solved. She was officially pulled out of the line up with Tinkerbell by 2005 and not much Hunchback merch was sold for a while until recently when their anniversary popped up. Sorry I’m a bit passionate about this one so mini rant over 😅 I mean Disney is a business so I get it, but I hated it cause Esmeralda was one of my favorites, if not *theee* favorite of mine, and has the best message/song out of all the princesses. Especially as someone whose people was and still are being targeted for mass genocide but also still sexualized by the people “othering us” and created the genocide that’s killing us off in the first place, she just resonated more and was more wholesome since she fought for a more important kind of love and was also a badass about it. Her and Mulan have such similar stories.
And this is even brought up in Wreck It Ralph 2 when Vanellope meets the Princesses. When they're doing the intros and get to Merida (she goes off on a heavily accented thing) one of them whispers that she's from the "other studio".
@@AdamIshak01 FRIEND don't apologize we're alike I'm intense and passionate as well lol and yes yes yes to all you said!!!! I got so hyped with your comment
Brave is so underrated! The first song in the movie is my favorite, so much so that im getting a tattoo of one of the lines. I love Merida ❤ thanks for reacting to this!
Merida is technically a pixar princess as it was a pixar disney film so many consider her disney princess and others pixar so she is both but is actually considered one of the 13 disney princesses!
I love "Brave" so much!! Merida, as a character, is amazing and unique, and brave. I just resonate with the story much more than the other Disney princesses. I also have that thing with my mom where I want to be me and follow my own path, but she also has her path for me. Both Merida nor my mom don't have bad intentions. The path my mom chose for me is suffocating and difficult, but she also explains to me the reason why she wants me to continue on that path. I just wish she would also listen to me, just like in Merida's speech.
I had the dvd of this movie as a kid, I remember being hopelessly in love with the chubby prince who didn't talk/talk clearly. He was soft in a way I liked immediately and really wished he was real lol
Brave is one of my favorite new Disney movies. Scotland actually does look like that. A lot of your Scottish, and Irish moves to the mountains of North Carolina, because it reminded them of home.
I didn’t like it as much, years and years ago. But I rewatched it earlier this year, and it shot up to a favorite. It’s a good story. I appreciate it more now than I did as a young teen.
The big son speaking Doric is the one she was originally supposed to get with. I still think they would make a great couple once they learned to speak. Every time he's looking at her, he is in awe.
Mordoo was the bear that took her fathers leg. The tapestry was the one her mom was working on while she was really little singing in the storm. It would have taken years to make. So cutting it would have destroyed years of work. The large young man who spoke funny was actually speaking a norther Scottish dialect. The singers name is Julie Fowlis.
17:09 a fortnight is 14 nights, so within two weeks Merida is my aro/ace queen. And also the reason I learned archery and won my own bow and arrows from my dad. Thanks for my first weapon dad!
Brave did come out in theaters, it's just that the advertisements were kind of misleading so the movie got a bunch of criticism at release. If they'd advertised in a more straightforward way the movie would probably be more popular. It's still one of my favorites, especially since she's the only Pixar animated princess (who's a human anyway)
Fun fact! The son that you can't understand is actually speaking the old Scottish language! The voice actor speaks it fluently, he just sped it up and dirtied a few words to make it all sound more jumbled!
This won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2012, beating Frankenweenie, ParaNormal, The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists, and Wreck-It Ralph.
As someone dealing with a current case of pneumonia, hoping you feel better sir. This movie has been hard for me to watch mainly just because it is so dark. Like visually dark. Definitely had to bring the brightness up the first time I watched it
The mother didn't have the grey strand at the very beginning (when Merida was a little girl) but did once the time skipped forward to Merida being a teenager. It's just a lot more obvious with her hair loose. And I agree: It does not detract from her looks at all.
I did archery club for a short while in high school and it's not that hard. You mainly have to make sure that you have the arrow steady near your face and have only your index and middle finger holding the end of it. Shooting takes some practice but the way we did it was with ballons on the target that had candy in them
Omg not billy just assuming her parents are gonna die based off of other Disney movies😂 I genuinely love how billy got a like idk jump scared when the triplets are the cake😊
Tapestries like that take an eternity to make. The longbow on the other hand looked very light "if it wasn't Merida's draw strength would've been insane for those arms" It's probably something like an English longbow which was easy to produce. Unlike let's say a Mongolian compound bow, which was incredibly hard to make but way better .
I truly forgot how happy you make your viewers with just your warm personality. Hope you feel better soon, try some honey and lime to soothe your throat
Thanks for the reaction, Billy.😃 Merida is one of my Favourite Disney princess. Just the Scottish Concept is fantastic. 20:18 To be honest, Fergus and Elinor don't pay attention to their children. Those Triplets kids are hilarious and dangerous 🤣 I love them.
I also love their accents, love this movie. This is one of my grandma’s favorites too. So every once in a while we watch it. Funny enough mentions of Moana that’s the other one my grandma loves. I love way too many Disney movies personally but Mulan will always be my favorite. Every morning before school in kindergarten or first grade I’d wake up watch it on vhs.
The last time I snorted when I laughed was when I was watching a vid by Charlotte Dobre and it was titled "watching people ruin their lives in 10 seconds or less" at 6:43 some poor lady got champagne cork shot at her rump and as much as I genuinely felt bad for her I also couldn't help but laugh to the point of wheezing, snorting and tears! It took me five minutes just to stop laughing enough to type out a comment on the vid!😂😂😂 I grew up with Three Stooges, AFV (Americas Funniest Videos) and Tom and Jerry so slapstick humor really gets to me! Definitely one of my favorite movies, Merida is so conscious that even the other clan's sons weren't convinced to marry a girl they don't even know. The 3 little brothers are just pure chaos.
21:00 my gym teacher back in elementary school he was doing that all the time on all the year that I was going there all the kids loved him for that and for how fun he was he was great at that!
Brave is not Pixar quality, but it was still pretty entertaining. It does a great job of showing what a mother and daughter relationship looks like. There are some funny jokes and some pretty great action.
I love your shirt 😩 And I'm so glad you're reacting to Brave, it's one of my fav Pixar movies! Also I never snort when I laugh really hard, I either cry or wheeze

Hey Billy! It's actually better to drink cold beverages when you have a sore throat/are losing your voice. I lost my voice a few weeks back and what really helped was making several cups of chamomile tea with honey and putting them in the fridge until cool before drinking.
Back in ye olden times, the two main 'calendars' were a sennight and fortnight - seven and fourteen nights respectively. The witch told Merida to expect delivery within two weeks. I went to see it in theaters when it came out. I had been waiting for a tomboy princess. Love Merida! Also, that super cool shot where her arrow goes through the other is generally referred to as “a Robin Hood” and can be done without too much difficulty. My brother and I have both done it, but it’s an expensive trick, as arrows are not cheap. Archery is an amazing sport, I’ve been shooting bows since I was about 9, so almost 20 years now. I was also into horseback riding as a kid, so Merida is someone I can relate to very well. My mother was always kind of sad that I didn’t turn out more girly and my father supported my tomboyishness. My mom wasn’t so brunt with her disapproval of my sports as Merida’s, but I love how similar we are. I even have insanely curly hair, but mine is blonde instead of red.
Mor duth - the big bad bear, his name actually translates actually means Big Black in gaelic, and the song they sing is also sung is Scottish Gaelic so when this movie came out me and my sister loved it because we spoke gaelic and they actually added gaelic songs and sections to the movie!
❤❤Billy you look better and I'm so glad that the grind never stops but please take care and let your body heal. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 you're in my prayers. We're here for the long haul. A fortnight is an old term (well, oldish, as it didn't stop being in use until 1920) that refers to a period of a little over two weeks. It's a shortening of the Old English phrase "fēowertīene niht", meaning "fourteen nights".
Oh, and a kerfuffle is basically a fuss, a mess, a commotion, that kind of thing. And I had no idea where it came from, so I looked it up, and apparently it came from the Scots, so it's very fitting for this movie. It started out being spelled carfuffle, until the English just had to tweak it (as they like to do) and change it to kerfuffle.

The fact that bily didn't get that the dad pinched the moms but and she made a sound and that's why he laughed is surprising lmao
I love how Angus was called a DONKEY but is also the only character billy has ever gotten their name right😂
You wishing death on her dad so you can get at her mom was hilarious
It’s free game at that point right? 😏
Oof the innocence 😂 “why he laugh like that?” He grabbed the cake sirrrrr 😂
Billy: " Ain't no way you slamming doors in my castle." ''You can have your attitude somewhere else, not in my castle."
Me: laughing my a** off
Sounds just like my mother when he says that. Obviously i don't have a great relationship with her.
I can’t believe Billy didn’t notice that the king pinched his wife’s butt😂😂😂and he’s always talking about cuff the booty
Brave is so underrated! The first song in the movie is my favorite, so much so that im getting a tattoo of one of the lines. I love Merida ❤ thanks for reacting to this!
I saw the a video of someone saying their kid told them “family tradition is just peer pressure from dead people”. 😅😂
“I wasn’t expecting to see marshmallows!”
🤣💀😂💀🤣 I’m dead. LoL!!!
3:56 Billy come on man, you of ALL people should have gotten the innuendo there 😂 He pinched her 🍑 lmao
petition for billy and dylanisintrouble to watch the movie '47 metres down:uncaged' because that would be TOO funny😭 #bingers
You should put #bingers so he’ll see it
Put #bingers for him to see it
#bingers watch ‘47 metres down and ‘47 metres down:uncaged
NEEDS TO HAPPEN! OH MY GOSH PLEASE!!! The chaos that would unfold 😅^UP++ #Bingers 47 Meters up (with @Dylanisintrouble)
@@GabrielleDenise_ THANK YOU
I’m so glad you reacted to this! Brave is one of my favorite Disney movies and I feel like it’s so underrated even though it’s so good!
Billy, you did not just call the horse a donkey 🤦🏾♀️🤣
He just did lol-
Merida is technically a pixar princess as it was a pixar disney film so many consider her disney princess and others pixar so she is both but is actually considered one of the 13 disney princesses!
He's speaking a language called Doric.
17:08 she said within a fortnight, which means within a period of 14 days, or two weeks
Thanks so much for watching even when you’re sick Billy!! Sending love and get well soon💕
17:09 a fortnight is 14 nights, so within two weeks
Merida is my aro/ace queen.
There's an end credit scene where the witch's bird delivers all the bear carvings to the castle gates.
Fun fact! The son that you can't understand is actually speaking the old Scottish language! The voice actor speaks it fluently, he just sped it up and dirtied a few words to make it all sound more jumbled!
There are several Scottish languages. He's just speaking Doric - one of the less common.
that giggle on 33:01-33:03 WAS SO WHOLESOME AND CUTEEE
This won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2012, beating Frankenweenie, ParaNormal, The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists, and Wreck-It Ralph.
I think this could have been a contender for best pic, with Wreck It Ralph winning best animated pic
I literally watched Brave yesterday and was like I wish Billy would react to this movie 🤯 love you Billy 💕
Hope you feel much better now Billy! Even with no voice you still work so hard on that TH-cam Grind and we appreciate you so much! ❤❤❤
"that was so magical, it was majestic even" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
we need a count on how many times billy has said "thats gangsta" in all of his videos😂
And I agree: It does not detract from her looks at all.
oml I almost spit out my coffee when he said "i'll make that belly full in both ways" like what?!!!!!
OMGGG I LOVE THIS MOVIE YESSs thank you for reacting to it ❤❤❤
I snorted laughing when my brother was watching Paw Patrol and the dog Rubble said double on the rubble I don't know why it made me laugh so much
I love how Billy asked 'when was the last time you snorted while laughing' right as I just got done snorting LOL
I did archery club for a short while in high school and it's not that hard. You mainly have to make sure that you have the arrow steady near your face and have only your index and middle finger holding the end of it. Shooting takes some practice but the way we did it was with ballons on the target that had candy in them
Merida is a Disney Princess. She was one of my older daughter's favorite ones.
This movie was my literal childhood. Thanks for reacting to it man ✌🏻
Omg not billy just assuming her parents are gonna die based off of other Disney movies😂
I genuinely love how billy got a like idk jump scared when the triplets are the cake😊
Brave was in theaters. I love it more now as an adult than when I first watched it. Those triplets get funnier each time.
The story is based on the Celtics fable "the bear and the bow" my meme used to tell us that story. ♥ love this so much
Thank you for spending time being here with us all. Get well soon Billy.
Cue the Office quote: “Why are you the way that you are?” Lol 24:38
Tapestries like that take an eternity to make. The longbow on the other hand looked very light "if it wasn't Merida's draw strength would've been insane for those arms" It's probably something like an English longbow which was easy to produce. Unlike let's say a Mongolian compound bow, which was incredibly hard to make but way better
.
You should watch this one with your daughter. Great message about being true to yourself alongside respecting the wishes of your parents.
The way the queen stops it is like badass.
I truly forgot how happy you make your viewers with just your warm personality. Hope you feel better soon, try some honey and lime to soothe your throat
I love Brave. For the longest time Merida was my favorite Disney princess. She's still in my top 3, for sure. I love this movie so much.
31:45 I can't LMAO the names he comes up with when he forgets their name 💀
*Instead of snorting, I'm here sounding like a baby elephant*
I LOVE BRAVE SO MUCHH!!!! It’s one of the best Disney movies. And honestly billy your commentary’s just make it better
Thanks for the reaction, Billy.😃
Merida is one of my Favourite Disney princess.
“Huhh.. I wasn’t expecting to see marshmallows” 😭😭 had me rolling
XD
6:17 it was a very long time ago when harness weren’t invented
Definitely one of my favorite movies, Merida is so conscious that even the other clan's sons weren't convinced to marry a girl they don't even know. The 3 little brothers are just pure chaos.
21:00 my gym teacher back in elementary school he was doing that all the time on all the year that I was going there all the kids loved him for that and for how fun he was he was great at that!
Not him missing the butt grab joke in the very beginning….”why he laughing so hard when she said she’s a lady?”
21:43 Every parent in the world has made that sound 😂
Brave is not Pixar quality, but it was still pretty entertaining. It does a great job of showing what a mother and daughter relationship looks like. There are some funny jokes and some pretty great action.
i think it could have been had they not fired the original director/writer halfway through. brave had so much more potential, it's a huge shame
I disagree, I think it’s just fine. I like it a lot. Also really like Onward
I mean, didn't they have to create an entirely new program or way of programing to animate Merida's hair? That seems pretty Pixar to me.
Julie Fowlis designed the soundtrack and sang the songs, I believe. Scottish artist who does a lot of Celtic music, often sings in Scottish Gaelic.
I love your shirt 😩 And I'm so glad you're reacting to Brave, it's one of my fav Pixar movies!
Also I never snort when I laugh really hard, I either cry or wheeze
Mordu (bear) was the prince who wanted to be the most powerful and made that deal with the witch. When mordu died it freed his soul.
#bingers have you watched Ferngully bc if not that should be at the top of the list. Robin Williams is in it and iconic as always, also there are BOPS
That is a great choice. And Robin Williams sings in it as well.
21:43 had me dying!!!! Brave is such an underrated movie and as an Irish girl, this was the only movie that really portrayed my culture. It is beautiful and should be talked about more!! Thank you for watching and I enjoyed watching you watch it!!!
She Scottish tho
@@reneenoneofyourbusiness5243the Scots were originally from Ireland
@@callnight1441 no they weren't
@@enichaco yes, they were. the scots were a people originally from ireland, who migrated in the 5th century to Caledonia under Fergus the Great. There they intermingled with the Gaels and the Picts to form what we now know as the scottish people
@@callnight1441 Yes the people who were originally known as Scots were from Ireland, but they weren't the only people living in Scotland at that time. People from many different countries did and over time they simply became Scottish. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter because Brave is set centuries after all this and the characters are all Scottish, not Irish or anything else.
Not Billy missing that Dad laughed so hard in the beginning because he cuffed the booty😂😂
Hey Billy! It's actually better to drink cold beverages when you have a sore throat/are losing your voice. I lost my voice a few weeks back and what really helped was making several cups of chamomile tea with honey and putting them in the fridge until cool before drinking.
0:58
"Yo, why is his voice sounding like that"
Billy: Puberty
Back in ye olden times, the two main 'calendars' were a sennight and fortnight - seven and fourteen nights respectively. The witch told Merida to expect delivery within two weeks.
If you ever get around to watching Ralph Breaks the Internet (sequel to Wreck-It Ralph), you'll get your answer about if Merida is a Disney Princess.
Omg I feel like I’ve requested this 1000 times!! Yay!! Finally! One of my fav Disney princesses!!
I don't think I have ever laugh this hard at one of your videos before! You made me literally spit my water out in surprised laughter! 🤣🤣
You had so many good one liners with this one!!
the thing u called a blanket is called a tapestry aka olden version of photos usually holding some level of important memories
#bingers Prince of Egypt, Edge of Tomorrow, Into the woods
Last time I snorted was watching “Look at this dude” videos. Those ones always get me no matter what 😂
I went to see it in theaters when it came out.
Every morning I start the day asking my team your mantra, they love it. I did tell them that the mantra came from you and advised them to check you out and join the fam.
One of my faves! Don’t know why it wasn’t more popular.
5:48 when I laugh at my own bad dad jokes😅😅😅
i love you billy!!!’ please feel better, so so sorry about your throat/voice❤❤❤
