I am so saddened by Elenora’s life. We as black women need protectors. Imagine -being pimped out by your own mother; and beat so much that you grow to enjoy it...smh. This world can be so cruel.
We all can say "oh Billie shouldve got herself together" but drugs especially hard drugs are hard to kick. It's a mental and physical mind controlling disease. I remember my aunt trying to stay clean, but on her bad days it would trigger her...,she would want crack and call me crying, walking to the crack spot begging me to pick her up before she would hit that spot.and I would. Billie's early trauma and demons did this to her..Im thankful that today we recognize that mental health is a real thing-especially amongst ppl of color

SHE WAS REJECTED FROM BIRTH SUCH GREAT TALENT MAY SHE REST IN PEACE THE PEACE SHE NEVER HAD IN LIFE. MAY THE LORD HAVE MERCY ON HER SOUL WAS LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES REST IN POWER.
Also during Billie's youth, the great depression was going on! Smh..
Billie’s story has always broken my heart... like she just wasn’t set up to win or to appreciate good fortune...

I read a statement that Billie, made. "When you get on narcotics, you die a long, slow, painful, death."
Clearly, I don’t have any real friends in my life since no one told me about this channel! This is the most entertaining thing I’ve come across in my life
Ashley, you are a joy to listen to. I've done a book report on Billie Holiday when I was in high school. Let me tell you it was a big book lol my teacher told me " are you able to read the whole book in time before the report is due " well let's just say I got a A+ on my report. Billie Holiday is one of my favorite singers. Performers like. Marvin Gaye, Phyllis Hyman , Dorothy Dandridge , Whitney Houston that was blessed with God's Talent seem to have lived a tragic life.

Im 38 years old. Ive always felt i was born in the wrong era. For a whole slew of reasons lol anyway this has become my Favorite channel... Been going through some things personally and listening to You really puts a smile on my face.
Watching that Hulu movie (U.S. vs. Billie Holiday) makes me rethink any and every instance she was “busted” for drugs.
She was a child of the times. Vice was prevalent during the depression era. Attitudes and morality suffered then as they do today. Chile!!!
