    It's pretty neat that the Cleanrot Knight Sword is the best offhand thrusting sword, since that's exactly what the Cleanrot Knights use it as. Shame we can't have their full moveset if we equip it with their spear or with the Halo Scythe, but such is life I suppose.

      @Beyond Hop3 I'd still rather have both hands attack. The strength of the spear or halb paired with the thrusting sword, is applying pressure at short and close range. It's extremely potent for mindgames, pressure, and forcing rollcatches.

    There is a very narrow case-use for the Noble's Estoc: it allows 80 Faith or 80 Int builds to completely eschew their Str/Dex stats by having the lowest stat requirements of all Thrusting Swords. A starting Astrologer needs a single point of Str to use the Noble's Estoc, and the Prophet class doesn't need any points to use it. This means one could run 50 Vigor/40-50 Mind/80 Faith or Int PvP builds at the 150 meta.
    This assumes that the rapier is basically an afterthought though; such builds would rely on their spells almost exclusively. Definitely a min-max situation, and those builds would be trading 20-30 AR for basically 4-5 points in other stats. Niche at best.

    That's funny, I grabbed the "Ice needle" very early to use it just like a wand! I'm happy that the fact it still has a projectile when fainting was mentioned here. I was surprised when I figured it out for myself.- For those interested, it is pretty easy to get. The boss you need to defeat is a "Revenant" which are deadly weak against healing magic. You just need to procure the finger talisman and your basic heal from the round table, and you don't need to put a single point into faith if you grab the "faith knot crystal" (for your flask of physic) just sitting there in the weeping peninsula. Should be an easy fight, or I just got lucky. Oh and hope you can meet the stat requirements for that rapier!

      Combine that with an offhand cold Cleanrot, the right hand triple thrust in the power stance Rapier moveset is basically to inflict all three at once. Put Parry on the Cleanrot sword and you can really fuck people up.

      Alternatively, you can pick up the Ash of War: Poison Moth Flight from the Night's Cavalry in Caelid and use the Black Whetstone to set the affinity to Blood. Seppuku doesn't show up until the Mountaintops, and setting it to Blood affinity means you don't have to keep casting Seppuku to keep up the blood loss. With something like a Cold Estoc in your offhand, you can shred your way through at least half the game with status effects and anything that boosts rapid strikes.

    The cold-infused Antspur is bugged. It loses its inert rot upon being upgraded to +6 as you mentioned. Moreover, the innate rot of the cold Antspur somehow scales up with the weapon upgrade level before +5 (from +0 to +5) up to 100+ cold buildup. One way to exploit it is to dual-wield two +5 cold Antspurs for massive cold procs and fast rot buildup.

    Poison is good for the Antspur Rapier, if you give it the Seppuku Ash of War you can inflict Bleed, Poison AND Scarlet Rot when buffed. If they patch the bugged Cold Affinity/Infusion you could run all 4 more standard status ailments at once with two Antspur Rapiers, and let's be real, that would be terrifying to fight.
    Death, Madness, and Sleep aren't what I'd call standard due to how few weapons can inflict those. There aren't many Scarlet Rot weapons, but in comparison all three of those combined, it has a ton of them.
    On my Sword of Night and Flame/hybrid caster build I started using the Estoc with Flaming Strike and the Flame Art Affinity/Infusion, I have to say that Flaming Strike pairs quite well with thrusting swords due to the slashing attack you get with the follow-up attack that buffs the weapon.

    I've spent a lot of time pvping with twin antspurs, on an arcane build, its a blast. Blood infusion reliably procs as the powerstanced thrusting swords hit a lot. Throw blood tax on the main hand and whatever you prefer on the offhand- this is more of a bleed build though, if you prefer to keep it dot based then poison will do the trick.

      The anstur is probably better in the main hand in that case. The powerstanced moveset on thrusting swords is 1 hit with each weapon on the first L1, but then 3 hits on the mainhand and 0 hits on the offhand on the secnd hit. Since the Antspur has so many status effects on it thats the one you want getting the triple hits probably

    • @Sljm8D

      @@TheKripox True for basic R1 combos, but the running, jumping, and rolling attacks use both swords properly and having Frozen Needle in your offhand doesn't allow you to use its unique R2. Also it technically has a usable (but mediocre) Ash of War during Seppuku buff, which lasts a good amount of time, during which your L2 button does nothing else.
      In reality, the ideal usage is two Antspurs, both of which are Bleed infused. I just like to think about unusual setups sometimes.

    Nobles estoc is for casters and has low requirements. Sacred blade ash adds flat 81 holy damage to nobles estoc and stacks on the sacred infusion and holy shrouding tear. And the projectile hits hard, I consider it faith’s moonveil with zero point investment necessary for prophet starting class. The r1s with the buff literally shreds people to ribbons while triple rings finishes them off.

    Antspur is terrifying if made poison and given Seppuku, as then you get three of the seven status effects from a single weapon. Seeing as frostbite can easily be gained from sources such as sorceries and incantations (or even wielding it alongside a Frozen Needle), and since the other three are much more niche and for the most part require you to build specifically for only (one of) them, I'd dare to say that the Antspur is one of if not the best status affliction weapon currently in the game.

    Odd little tip: Feinting the 2nd heavy attack of 2-handed estocs is much faster than all other feints. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it might even true combo from the first heavy.

    • @reflexassassin
      @reflexassassin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The comment I wanted to see! I've been using this for the last month in pvp, it's really good but it's not a true combo unless you land your first R2 fully charged. It's also nearly always connects when the opponent tries dodging forward after the first R2. This alone makes the (2H) Estoc pretty much the best Thrusting sword imo.
      The weapon excels in rollcatches with it's R1, running R1, running R2 and both jump attacks. Use this to pressure the opponent into rolling sideways or forwards which you can easily counter with the Estoc's standing R2 (uncharged) and then follow up in the feint to catch them off guard.
      Its only true downsides are the lowish poise damage (89 on 2H R2 (normal and feint)) and how it's not exactly easy to time the feint cancel as fast as possible as your input gets eaten if you do it too early.

    • @reflexassassin
      @reflexassassin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I forgot to mention, there is actually a way to true combo this in the uncharged version but it's only possible when your opponent is literally standing against you. Connect the first uncharged R2 while unlocked, then use a reverse R2 feint so that you land right next to your opponents right shoulder. The opponent will be hit twice nearly instantly, but I wouldn't say it's really worth the hassle.

    • @omnibot5848
      @omnibot5848 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@reflexassassin I didn't know it would combo from a fully charged R2, but I guess it makes sense since the extra stagger time outweighs the extra recovery. I'll have to try that trick for true comboing from an uncharged R2. I usually run Estoc with Storm Stomp so a point blank R2 isn't unreasonable to get.
      Regarding inputs getting eaten, so long as you are holding circle and R2 simultaneously the feint will come out immediately. Hope that helps.

    • @reflexassassin
      @reflexassassin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@omnibot5848 Storm Stomp is really good with the Estoc, however using the R2 into R2 feint after SS will hit way less often due to the opponents faster stun recovery after 2 hits (SS into R2) instead of 1 (just the first R2).
      And there's no way haha I've been practicing the timing in between every invasion for nearly a month! I'll try it out tomorrow but I'm pretty sure I've tested that before. Maybe it might be because I'm on ps4? Anyways thanks for the tip it could change my life if I was really that stupid not to have tested that haha.

  • @TheValiantBob
    @TheValiantBob 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    On a dex build I was thinking of having dual thrusting swords, with the main hand being frozen needle to use the projectiles. Also dual wielding is useful for building status, but what I'm trying to decide is if it would be better to cold infuse the offhand weapon to get that proc faster, or keep it keen for better spear talisman counterhits. Since frostbite increases all damage taken, does the math come out to where offhand frost estoc or keen estoc comes out on top?

    • @wbhandy
      @wbhandy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will likely depend on how many hits it takes to proc frost, and your stat spread. I’d try it both ways and see how it works out on average in PvP. If you’re able to proc frost reliably while still having keen on the offhand that’s probably better, but if you aren’t proccing frost consistently I’d put cold on the offhand. Reliably getting the frost proc will outweigh the AR deficit.

    Rapier is not a great pick for crit damage in PVE. It is, out of thrusting swords. But there are better weapons to choose. Keep in mind that the motion values from the data mining, are not correct for PVE. The actual values are especially different for large enemies. Also the crit attack animations change for large enemies. Making every weapon do crits in two separate damage chunks. So the smaller weapons that would otherwise do one damage chunk, loose their edge even more.
    Halberds are great for riposting smaller pve enemies. doing one large damage chunk. Can do more than Misericorde. Colossal weapons work well against large enemies. Especially with blood infusion. Because it can trigger bleed with the crit alone. Executioner's Greataxe is almost as good as Giant-Crusher, for being a crit specializing weapon.
