Guys umm... *Gulps, clears throat* If Ranni was my discord kitten I would um... R1 spam her with my cragblade rapier if you uhh... know what I mean, my fellow redditors
It's funny that you like the frozen needle so much, given that the ice rapier in DS2 was rediculously broken in terms of raw dps. It even had BLEED buildup!
Can confirm the cragblade is hilariously good in duels too especially if used for roll catching or mixing it in to your hits randomly to uncharged and it helps most people don't have great lightening resistance, been loving using that, my Godskin stitcher and two handing my cross naginata with phantom slash
One thing with the Rogier's Rapier, if you hit somebody with an ash of war that leaves them somewhat stunned, perse Impaling Thrust, it always true combos into an uncharged R2. I think that's really cool
No don't, you will trigger Ricard's Rapier PTSD for all ds1 players. Honestly Miyazaki knew exactly what he was doing when he made a multihit rogier's Rapier, he definitely just wants to troll us
Rogier's Rapier also has the second highest critical rating of the thrusting swords at 110, and thrusting swords as a whole have the second highest base critical damage in general after daggers. For pve, this combined with the glintblade phalanx AoW rogier's comes with makes it amazing for critical hits with the insane stance break of GBP. Also about the anstpur rapier there is rot grease in the game and since it's infusable you could just double down on the rot build-up and use a physical affinity(standard heavy keen or quality) and then apply rot grease to it.
one if the scariest builds using thrusting swords I saw had the Antspur Rapier set to blood affinity with Poisonous Mist and an offhand Cold Estoc. bro was proc’ing *everything*
I did some digging and bloodhound step has 16 i frames at 30fps while dynasty’s finesse has 20 at 30fps. So a bit more I frame though I am not certain what I frames bloodhound step has in pre-patch nor the recovery frames. But a bit nutty nonetheless
In hindsight, it's pretty funny that the base game heavy thrusting sword was a weapon class where the two infusable weapons both had unique heavy attacks, while the two enchanted ones had a shared attack that seems to count as the class default with how it's more plain than what the epee and stitcher have
For anyone who might be interested, you can get 2 estocs in one play through. If you keep patches alive, you can buy one from him as well eventually, Though by the time you get to the point that you can get one from him, you probably will have found other thrusting swords, I do find the extra reach of the estocs pretty useful.
I'ma have to go with Heavy thrusting swords. Last full run i did was shield-pokey, and the Godskin Stitcher with repeating thrust was incredibly effective against enemies after they get staggered by a greatshield block. Edit: Also, in that run, tired out teh Cragblade on the Radagon and Elden Beast fight. Deleted Elden Beast in like 2 fully charged Ash of War attacks. It is unbeleavably effective at it.

That's the video I was waiting for I used the bloody helice for my first playthrough and just fell in love with it so much it became my main and favourite weapon; I also tried the godskin stitcher and the dragon king's cragblade and for me, the attack speed of the heavy thrusting swords class is perfect: slower than a katana but faster than a greatsword Also, let me give you a couple tips for the dragon king's cragblade: it's a poise destroyer, 2 full charged ability can stance break maliketh and godfrey; also, if your opponent is near you and you fully charge the ability, you'll get sent to brazil and won't hit the target, so just don't charge it or try to gain distance before using it. Simply remember it's not that precise
My first playthrough when I first got the Great Epée it just felt good. And then when I found the Bloody Helice I used it the rest of my playthrough. And pairing it with a good medium shield just feels right.
I'm (one of, probably) the people who suggested this merged video, even called myself a Bloody Helice main so I can't exactly hide which side I prefer... But as someone who doesn't do PVP, I expected the BH to be good in duels. Y'know, high mobility, all that. I was not expecting that level of SAUCE, jesus H christ
Personally, the real beauty of the Antspur rapier is that Scarlet Rot buildup doesn’t scar with Arcane, allowing you to go all in on Dex to pump your damage.
Not gunna lie did a run with the heavy thrusting swords they kinda kick butt power stanced, either bleed+frost, bleed+poison or pure double bleed depending on the task at hand I think I went double frost for the final boss but can’t recall. Anyhow those swords have still gotta be one of my top weapons I’ve ever done a run with gives you most of the satisfaction of a large or colossal weapon with a bit more speed. That said I must disagree with ya the power stance jump attack at least with the heavy ones and the talisman+cloak *chef’s kiss* magnifico
Heavy thrusting swords are my favorite cuz nothing can beat the crag blade and bloody helice on cool factor alone, and they do big damage number, me likey
There is 5 category left to examine they are :Hammers,Great hammers,Reapers,Claws and Spears(i didn't mention 10 other category which is 3 Bows category,Crossbows,Ballistas,Glintstone staffs,Sacred seals,Torchs and Tools that have 4 damaging item(Wraith calling bell,Omen bairn,Regal omen bairn,Ancestral infant's head) and there is shileds too if you count
God before even clicking on the video i know im in for some good Eldenring content, so thank u a lot and keep the amazing work up-! (Also i love if u make videos a bit longer :D )
I always loved heavy thrusting swords. I like thrusting swords too but they are harder to use, for me at least. In PvE, the thrusting swords have no stopping power, so you have to be very careful not to get very bad trades. The heavy thrusting swords have a lot of stopping power though, and reach of course. I like them all, but Bloody Helice is my second favorite weapon behind Eleonara's Poleblade. I guess I like weapon arts with a lot of movement to them. I might try a couple of the builds mentioned in the video: I keep meaning to do a buckler parry playthrough, so the rapier is a good pairing, and I like the idea of strength heavy epee.
Try using the Misericorde- the rapier was supposed to have the highest crit damage in older games (until dlc) but buffed up greatswords ended up beating it. In this game however, the intended highest of the Misericorde does actually deal the highest crit damage, so give it a shot
I’m amazed on how effective for pvp this bad boys are, just made a stats effect build with the scarlet rot thrust sword with poison mist in blood affinity and the estoc with frozen blade in the other hand, so cool convo having all stat effects, also I have the frozen needle, but last fight in this video with the blood hélice .. mamma mia, so effective in PvP. I find this weapons lack of poise for PvE but the dynamic and aggressive side make up for it. Arcane is God btw
You can get 4 effects from Antspur rapier, since you can put poison ashes on blood affinity you can have a cold affinity in one hand and a blood affinity+poison mist/poison affinity+seppuku in the other hand.
I think noble's estoc is one of my favorite weapons fashion-wise. I love the gold blade, a ring with branches on sides and the pearl handle so much. Too bad farming for it is like crushing your own balls with a great hammer
well you showed off the pvp side of things quite nicely but to give a few tips on the pve side of things the regular thrusting swords aren't all that great if you just one hand them but they still have their uses, rapier is great for crit and estoc a decent all around thrusting sword simply because of the heavy attack slashes but they are all fast and nimble so they all pair up quite nicely as a side arm to something else for example a spell caster or a heavy weapons guy who needs something quick to kill off fast enemies that scurries about or to quickly dink of the last small amount of hp on a boss or big enemy or something or to quickly apply a status effect or just an extra set of ash of war for something, but if you dual wield them they become quite good in their own right. i do recommend the heavy thrusting swords for a single weapon use and main hand weapons simply because they do stagger the enemies more easily and they have bigger range and more damage just in general, however if you want to challenge yourself a little bit just going with the estoc and playing normally is a good enough challenge on its own and if you want an even bigger challenge you can try and parry the world and only use the rapier alongside a buckler. but if you want a fun time i recommend playing some form of caster and having a thrusting sword as your plan B, both estoc and rapier are easy to get early and have quite low stat requirements making them very easy to pick up and use alongside your build and you don't need to invest into dex heavily to use them at all, just remember estoc for fighting more than one enemy and rapier for critting but both do well enough for fast attacks which is why you have one, and besides it's fun to mess about just a little with a weapon even if you do use spells most of the time and the rapier is just extra fun because you can easily just slap on a buckler and try to play parry god even as a caster as neither a buckler or rapier is that heavy to just carry around with you, besides most spells are quite slow and you can't exactly do anything with a staggered enemy besides casting more spells and you can't really backstab an enemy with a spell either, so the option is always there with a rapier, and if you run into many small mobs often then estoc is better with the wide swings if you don't want to or can't dispatch them with a spell.
Don't worry about trying to farm the Slender Sword, I tried to farm the Lordsworn Greatsword because I missed the chest it was in at the beginning of the game. Spent an hour killing the guys outside of Margit's fight because I wanted it.
These weapon showcase videos are far superior to the official ones that Fextralife has made. Like it's so much more entertaining and provides info that the majority of players would use.
A bit late to the party but I'm really fond of the cragblade. I used to like the helix more but after doing a lightning based run and obliterating so much with the rock poker I fell in love with the thing. It's ash of war's variable distance is perfect for dealing/messing with ganks as if used right they'll have no idea who it's going after and like you showed can trivialize them. It's also good for roll catching as people are left guessing when it'll go off. As for damage? Absurd, I wouldn't say vigor check as many things can do that. But having such a high damage wild card like that (I can't remember if you are immune while the AoW is active, it's been months since I've used it. But if you are even better) makes you very hard to deal with. In all my time in ER pvp I think I could count the times I've seen it used on my hand. If you've never used that thing please go do so.
Hey monk! I wanna get into Elden Ring PVP but not sure about a few things, I tried invasion in my ng+ but for some reason its so difficult to find one, I'm assuming its because of my level or stats or location, not sure. Also if I were to try 1v1s am I supposed to be at a certain level, certain vigor stat? etc etc. Mostly I'm just unsure if there are specifics I should follow when doing pvp.
I would recommend PVPing between levels 125-150 if you want to do colosseums/duels. As for invasions, 125-150 works but its not the best. I’ve heard level 170 is a blast. However, I personally like doing invasions on lower level characters, around level 60 or so.
@@monkwashere Ah, thats what my problem is. My characters usually end up level 150 or higher by the time I finish my first run. I farm the albinaurics too much 😅 its way too satisfying. Thanks a bunch!
Nice vid. You didn't showcase the turtle poke attack at all btw. On the current patch you can't really poke-trade with almost anything but it's still one of the fastest attacks available for the heavy thrusting swords which makes it a good mix up.
the standard thrusting sword moveset always felt kinda lackluster to me, so i prefer heavy thrusting swords most of the time. dual-wielding poison antspur rapiers is always fun though.
Okay I wann ask a question for the pve players. Are these weapons good? I always loved thrusting swords, but they don't really seem all that good outside of pvp or status builds. How would one use these in pve? Maybe as part of a dex/faith or dex/int build? Is there any good option for a sole dex build with these that don't overly rely on status?
Heavy thrusting swords have great poise break potential in PvE. I used a heavy great epee with my strength build and spamming charged R2's made pretty much anything that wasn't a boss get knocked around since before Margit. My favourite is the Bloody Helice though.

Rogier's rapier's heavy attack is great for status build up. Just tap it and you'll notice that it's one of the faster heavy attacks in the game.
I think its like two frames slower than the light, its super fast
the estoc heavy into feint is a true combo as well

I wonder, will you ever make a video on spell schools/classes and on the ranged weapons like bows?
Dude i beat elden ring so many times and never knew feint atk existed thx alot for good tutorial elden ring 🤦
Nice vid. You didn't showcase the turtle poke attack at all btw. On the current patch you can't really poke-trade with almost anything but it's still one of the fastest attacks available for the heavy thrusting swords which makes it a good mix up.
13:03 oh so its literally the Ice Rapier from ds2
the standard thrusting sword moveset always felt kinda lackluster to me, so i prefer heavy thrusting swords most of the time. dual-wielding poison antspur rapiers is always fun though.
I miss when we could Ash swap Heavy Thrusting Swords. Using the Cragblade as cheese grater on Elden Beast felt good.
With Antspur you can actually have quadruple status.
Poison, Frost, Bleed and Scarlet Rot.
I used i blood godskin stitcher on malinea and it was great
You have range, decent bleed build, flinch for humanoid enemies like her
Heavy thrusting swords have great poise break potential in PvE. I used a heavy great epee with my strength build and spamming charged R2's made pretty much anything that wasn't a boss get knocked around since before Margit. My favourite is the Bloody Helice though.
what armor set is that? looks sick
Foreskin Nobles would be proud
Antspur and frozen needle combo that's all you need
This is how u learn the ice rapier is back in elden ring….
I was a demon with the godskin stitcher back when colosseums were popping off. Can you still find 1v1s on PC?
1v1s are the most popular on PC, next to invasions
@@monkwashere ah good to know! Thanks monk. Love your shit

You really just went ‘Hi how are yah?’ to that dude
Never run from a fight folks
I really wish they gave the one handed a proper duellist stance
