R32 GTR Nissan Skyline 370z Brake upgrade destroyed trying in install Z1 caliper adapter

- After 2 years of down time, it's nice to start working on my Nissan Skyline. Time to upgrade to a big brake kit on my R32 GTR. I ran into some problems installing the Z1 Motorsports 300zx rear calipers adapter bracket and destroyed one of my Akebono 370z sport brakes rear calipers in my attempt to install the new brake set up.

That’s a bummer about the brake kit not fitting! I literally just finished my big brake kit on my R33 GTR this week. Used Eximious Custom parts brackets to mount E55 AMG Brembo 8 piston front and Charger SRT 4 piston rear Brembos. 370z sport rotors all the way around. His kit was awesome. The front bolted right on after trimming the dust shields, but the rears required some pretty hefty trimming of the caliper. Best of luck! I can’t wait to see your build up and going! Building a Nitto 2.8/PPG for my R33 with lots of the same parts. PRP block brace, etc! I JUST got my engine back from the machine shop!

@@JDMRightHandDrive man I couldn’t believe I found AMG 8 piston calipers for $350! All in my brake kit was about $1500. I sold my factory 33gtr Brembos for $1200! I had to sand and paint my calipers by hand, and I bought really cheap DetroitAxle rotors just to see how everything fit, which I might upgrade later. All in, I cannot complain for only spending a few hundred bucks! Your car is going to be sick man! Keep crushing it!
the akebono z1 kit is better as far as fitment. You won’t have to grind the rear caliper at all. But for the front you’ll have to either grind the adapter bracket about 11mm or add an 11mm spacer so the caliper arm fits in between the rotor and mounting bracket.
I made my own kit for myself using 8 Piston front and 4 piston rear from a E55 AMG, i remember when i was making the rear brackets that they needed a notch to clear the handbrake cable. I noticed when you were fitting yours on that the cutout notch was in the wrong place, pointing (in my view) to you were fitting the wrong side bracket on, i think the other side bracket should be used and the cutout positioned to clear the handbrake cable. Try it to see how it bolts up....
I still need to pick up a few parts to do this same brake swap on my GTR. I’m very interested to see what you find out.
You would have hoped that Z1 would have planned to offer more support for the r32/33’s by now. Some of the setups are nice (especially the two piece rotors) but they can’t even include full specs of their rotors (diameter, thickness, etc).

Thanks for the support. Luckily so many people reached out to me on IG and FB. I have Detailed pictures of the caliper machining. I was on the right track, I just needed to go deeper into the caliper. Also was given detailed images for the front knuckles and bracket fitment. I plan to install the front brakes this Monday. I would love to, but I think that kit is around 7k or so. Out of my budget right now for sure with trying to finish up the engine right now. Good suggestion though. 👍
A big brake from a reputable manufacturer shouldn't need grinding, maybe you have the wrong kit or your R32 has a different variation due to vehicle trim. Those Nismo rims are sweet
I love the LMGT4 wheels too, or were you talking about the 350z NISMO wheels?
what's the width of the +35 offset wheels, was surprised they looked that flush. lotsa wheel options are always nice! bummer about the Z1 setup, i've had a lot of good experiences with them over the years, wish i had some suggestions for ya!
Those Volk CE28's are 18x9+35 on a 265 35 18 tire. The wide tire width helps to fill up the wheel gap. These wheels don't correctly up front and contact the sway bar when turning to full lock out. I have been buying stuff from Z1 since 2010 and this is the 1st problem I have ever experienced with one of their products. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

I have a feeling if you got allen head bolts for the bracket you wouldn't have needed to grind that much away. The allen head is much smaller than the stock bolt. Just a thought.
Hey Josh have you checked you tube for other rear big brake upgrades the r32 I’m sure there has to be something maybe that would get you in the direction you want
I looked and only found the one video using the Concept Z brackets. I will do so more research and hopefully I hear back from Z1 sooner than later.🔧
