Man! Your videos are outstanding. Your breakdown, and method are so in-depth! Im not just being kind, I mean it. You are a hidden jem in ballistic results here in TH-cam! Interesting results, and terrific breakdown Trigger-Bar. 👍
Ron I greatly appreciate your support. Gives me the courage to keep going! As you know better than me that sometimes the comment section can get rough so I truly appreciate this! Thanks again!!
That is extremely kind of you. I have two more 5.7 in this series, then a couple more 380 then back to some other gun reviews and fix ups! But thank-you!!
Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it, as usual. It seems to me that the hornady loadings performed more reliably. The V Max projectile itself seemed to perform pretty good. From what I've seen in most of AAC offerings the quality control is a little lacking. They are kinda new to the ammo game, and are known to be a budget price point. Fine fir the range, but for self defense, I want more reliability. Take care my friend, and wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Holiday.
Thank you for the testing. The FPS spread is certainly troubling. That being said, AAC's 5.7 rounds seem to be a work in progress and my hope is they keep up the development.
That’s my hope is that they get some of this worked out. I did a video a while back of how some of these didn’t fit into a case gauge. Even though I tested the ones that didn’t fit, and they ran fine. I get failures at the rate of 1-5%. Hard to predict and pin down. I wish it was better and I’m glad they are doing it just not something for my guns I’d trust for self defense yet.
I need to pick up some AAC 5.7 stuff at some point. Haven’t shot my M&P 5.7 in a long time. Looks like these should work pretty good. Always appreciate the work you put into testing like this!
Good morning Sir. Thanks for sharing buddy. I don't have any of these guns nor the calibers, but the bullets sure looks diff than what I am used to. Thanks again for sharing. I also heard you mentioning the Gamin Xero C1 Pro and I just got me one. I made my 1st video using it and I am in LOVE. Thanks again for sharing!!
Hi Adrain! Oh glad you got the Garmin! Yes it’s so easy and awesome to see what your gun is doing!! The 5.7 is interesting. Less recoil than 380 ACP but more power. It’s getting close to 9mm but much easier to shoot. The issue is ammo. Unlike 380 and 9mm this round came out in the 1980’s so about 80 years after 9mm so it has a way to go to see improvements. Kind of cool. My wife loves this gun so it’s her home defense gun.
@ Amen 🙏 to that. I gotta check this gun and caliber out and you never know, I might grab me one and have fun with it. Thanks 🙏 again for watching. I am going to be making many more videos using my Garmin Xero C1 Chronograph. I just love ❤️ how easy it is to set up and use right outside the box 📦. I will be looking 👀 out for your next video.
It's a bit of a repeating theme with maybe the QC of the AAC in 5.7. It's tough to purposely seek the stuff out, but maybe they'll get in the mix of moderating the price. I'm curious if the coated cases attract grit, but I don't know if I'll ever have much of this stuff around. I thought the jacket separation of the first shot was, maybe not so good. On the other hand, assessing penetration is an interesting capability, for what I always thought the V, in V-max, was for misting varmints. Appreciate the content TB. Keep making that gel, abstract art! Family time.
Hi Craig! Yah frustrating about their QC. And at 3200 fps I suspect this will most a varmint or two. But that’s not out of these guns! I really appreciate the comment and support Craig! Take care!!
😂🤣😂🤣😂. Okay hear me out, let me make my case for it. 😂🤣. For you, for me, I don’t carry it…yet. But…if you have weak hands and can’t handle the recoil of 9mm (my wife, my father in law). This is very interesting. Less recoil than 380 ACP but more powerful IMO. Also, 23 rounds in pistols that is very light weight. 23 rounds of 9mm is heavy. So is it going to replace your duty or concealed carry round? Hell no. But for someone? Maybe…😂🤣. And the issue IMO, is the ammo kind of is lacking. Some rounds show the potential others are lacking. But, hopefully that’s changing. Those are the reasons I care at least. Thanks again for at least tolerating the content!!😂🤣. Also there is a case that when this caliber shoots over 2000 fps, it does temporary wound cavity damage like rifle calibers. Worth exploring IMO.
The price needs to come down drastically for this, but the 5.7 looks to be a great varmint/small game cartridge with the right bullet. Looks like a more reliable alternative to 22 WMR.
Welll. When it’s more reliable…. So for plinking ammo that is about the same speed as 22wmr out of a rifle (22wmr is about 2-300fps slower than 5.7x28 out of pistol). But yah, cheapest 5.7 is about $0.42/round and wmr is $0.18/round… so still a big difference

@steveharper5368 I haven’t done much 9mm yet just because there are a lot of other YT channels that do. I’ll get there. I do plan to do it for 380 and 10mm sooner though as I already have some.
May 9, 2024 according to my order record. I’d moved away from them as you know but wanted to do some more testing and finally got to it now. This video was shot in October.
@@triggerbarPhD darn. I was hoping you'd say May '23...and that by this year, they would have made the necessary changes. Your video with the case-gauge was in July '23. What are they thinking?? Do they not test it?? So very frustrating. And this stuff burping out at ~250 ft#...is ridiculous. It should be 1850 - 1900 fps (300-320ft#).
@@triggerbarPhD That makes me now wonder if the cycling issues might not be solved, or vastly improved, if the power were adequater (should be a word)? Like would a little "stickiness" even matter if they were bumping the slide with authority, being at 1900 fps (320 ft#)? Then again, I have not had cycling issues with Fiocchi, and their being a meager ~225 ft# at times. I do admit, though...that I somewhat like the fact that they do that, because it's the closest thing I can get to virgin-brass, apart from pulling bullets. Which I have considered doing...because it would mean a free primer, and could even re-use the powder, and get one more firing with my loads.
@ShastaBean ha! Well that’s a good point. The AAC ammo has stumped me for a while now. I thought my new barrel fixed it. I’m at a loss other than to avoid it 🤣😂

Thanks Joe! I agree, vmax good, AAC…I’m praying they get it together but it just doesn’t work with my 4 5.7x28 guns…

I so want to test the Vanguard 5.7x28 HPs. On paper they are rated at 36g going 2000fps. I don’t have gel tho.

I don’t have any more right now. I should do another order and get more black dragon fang. Those are awesome.

@@triggerbarPhD Vanguard has ballistic tipped rounds as well
@thePrussian yah they make good stuff. I had some issues with my rock with the monumentals but not the BDF. Others have had no issues.
Not reliable enough for defense but, it would do for testing the round on hogs. It generally works.
Curious have you tested in the hogs? Does it get in deep enough for vitals or pass through?
they can keep that stuff
No way I’m using it for self defense and there are cheaper options for what this is in FMJ.
