Curious, do you notice a lag in throttle response with this electronic assist set-up? I just installed mine this evening and went on a daily ride route which is about 10 miles road and 15 miles of single track and I noticed this throttle lag in any/all modes…. It is so noticeable that I may just unhook it..!! Please share your experience. Thanks!

I have to have my switch in the middle position or I do feel a bit of throttle nerf... but like I say only when I have the switch in the down position...if you are getting worse than this i.e bad throttle response in all switch positions then i would speak to kaniwaba about exchanging the peddle controller... i hope you get sorted brother 👍
Exactly what I was looking to see about the V3 kit. I like that green wire switch too. I wouldn’t mind to see an install video on that since the location is so clean. Thanks

Just installed my kit but didn't realise they sell them with the sensor so I have to order that separately! I thought it was easy enough to install just abit fiddly , keep up the good work 👊
yeah they are a bit fiddly to fit ...the biggest problem i had was with the chain ...it just isn't the right chain for the set up and I found that it would have to much side to side play on the sprocket and it would cause it to wonder of the sprocket and eventually snap.... I pulled a narrow chain of 1 of my kids play bikes and it has held up superbly... i hope it goes well for you, all the best👍

A question about THE SWITCH ;-)) ; Does that wire-loom need to come apart some , freeing up some work-space also to relocate the green wire somewhere stealthy like you did ?? I'm not an owner just yet ; wanting to buy a street-legal one here in Germany , drive it legally to the trails/forest , and there "switch" to unrestricted 75kmh (?) .. hi there, thanks for watching...there are lots of vids on how to snip the wire but you don't have to make room for anything ,all I did when I snipped the wire was extend it so that I had enough wire to put my switch where I wanted it... I've had some feedback on the switch and I think this mod only works with the road version as the controller is tuned slightly different for the l1e.. I hope this helps👍

yes it does ...but unfortunately you can only reach about 5mph using the pedals alone.... but if the bike can self propel then its an e/bike (legal).👍
How do you get around UK law with motor power as it states it has to be no more than 250W.?

Why are the cranks so small. I want to try to ride my surron on trails and this looks perfect but i’m not sure if I could put longer cranks on those.
hi ..you can put longer cranks on.. but you will struggle for clearance over obstacles... hope this helps 👍
does it affect proformance?
Is there a speed rating with the pedals? Meaning can i upgrade the surron to 72v and go 60mph with pedals on the bike but not used?
hi I'm not to sure about that, very good question though, the kit has its on speed converter that plugs in to the throttle loom connector so I recon it would work as all the pedals are doing is acting as the throttle, let me know if you decide to try it🤙🤙
Great video, does anyone know if it's possible to achieve real pedal assist on a Surron? It would be great to actually pedal it and save a little battery if possible.
hi ..thanks for commenting .. what did you mean by achieving real pedal assist .... this kit gives you the option of free peddling with no assist from the battery and also full pedal assist using full battery power .. the only problem with the free pedal option is its like being in 1st gear on a mountain bike so it looks kind of funny pedalling so fast but only going about 8 mph .. hope this helps,🤙

Ok, so full power pedal assist on the other hand, would allow me to pedal without using the throttle, but still giving me assistance from the motor correct? If so that would be perfect, that’s the only thing I like about the Super73. It lets you pedal with help from the motor to go relatively fast. Thanks
@@aog8202 correct .. the throttle will be disabled👍it gets around 40 mph just using the pedals.
@@SurRon_OffRoad Thanks man, sorry for so many questions. Are you saying that the power pedal kit would permanently disable the throttle? That would suck not to be able to switch between pedaling and using the throttle throughout long ride. Thanks
@@aog8202 no, there is a toggle switch for pedals with no power, pedals with power and pedals with power and throttle 3 modes 👍

Hi nice vid, I’m thinking of doing similar mods, can you tell me how you mounted the green cable power switch as I’ve just done same but I’ve just pushed spare cable into frame & the rocker switch is just sorta hanging in same location as yours whereas yours looks secure, cheers 👍🏻 FWIW I just get same speed in eco & power mode with switch on which is also same speed as low power with switch off (54kmh here Down Under which is @33.5 mph)
hi .. I manged to get the switch to sort of sit nicely behind the breaker switch ... but with it turned on you should only be getting 18/19 mph in eco and around 30mph in sport... and with the switch turned off you should be getting 30 mph in eco and around 45/50 mph in sport.... I might do a video showing the switch install soon.. I hope this helps in someway ..👍🏻
@@SurRon_OffRoad Mine is a 2022 what year is yours, as I’m not sure if somethings changed as I’ve seen comments in other videos that get same power reduction as you but then some same as mine!? I was hoping for the lower speed so will await your video but I’m sure there can’t be a different cable given I get full power with the switch off 🤔
@@Briggsys_Stuff mine is 2022 also ....make sure yo have a good connection and that the wires haven't come apart as your tucking it all in...if all that is fine then can you remember if the speed was limited before you cut the black and green wire? if so check the switch is good 👍🏻

Found the answer after speaking to the importer they said the programming is slightly different between the road version & the off-road version resulting in the lower speed on eco with wire connected !
You’d think the manufacturers would have that as an option when you buy the bike instead of having to buy a kit and fiddling with it.
Hi Electric bicycles in my country are very regulated, so I have to unthrottle them. Can I still use Pedal Assist if I remove the throttle?
yes you can, but the kit come with a switch so you can disable the throttle at leisure .. hope this helps🤙

Wouldn’t that still be illegal because the battery is bigger than 250 watt , or is it just for show ?
It could be a million watt's... but if it is only supplying a fraction of its power restricted at the controller and the pedals...as the pedal kits controller tones down the torque and my switch restricts the watts... broken down in to simple words...the motor is only receiving around or very close to 250watts from the controller when in this mode and will only do 18 mph Max.... to be honest with you I think I have done a very good job at trying to make my surron Trail legal..(Not road) hope this help any1 trying to do the same🤙👍👌 P.S if any1 is wanting to go road legal, then just buy the road legal surron like mine and insure it😉

@@tekmason7736 hi... the alarm kit i use and linked uses a rechargeable battery that i plug in to the usb point on my bike... 1 charge last for about two weeks... 👍
what chain did you replace it with?
this my seem silly but I look a chain of 1 of my kids old bikes and its been flawless since... but to be fair I haven't been running the peddle kit for the last 6 month as the laws have changed in the uk,

hi.. it was a little fiddly to align up and I did swop the chain for a more norrow1 .. but there are vids on kaniwaba webpage that explains how to do it... hope this helps😊
@@SurRon_OffRoad for sure! I’ve watched those videos, but then I heard from people on their 2022 SurRon having fitment issues and the brace bar that you attach the freewheel to not being long enough. I love your video and I love seeing the power assist work in real time! This is the dream set up! And that green wire/kill switch!!! You got to do a tutorial for that beauty!
@@dexgray4581 honestly if you were local to Manchester UK I would help you fit it... but to be honest with you the parts are pretty much spot on with the fit.. just the chain they give with it is to wide in my opinion so you have to get them sprockets inline perfectly or the chain will wonder... alan griffiths, that's a very good question ... i'm going to say no as the pedal controller plugs in to the throttle wire and the bac's come with new throttles and i'm guessing the loom is different .. i will leave a kaniwaba link for you to get in touch with them..www.kaniwaba.com/

hi... it doesn't i'm afraid but it is very easy to install... just order any two wire switch to your liking then fit it to the green and black looped wire that is cut when unlocking the controller...hope this helps 👍

You from the uk? If so does this mod make it technically legal to ride on the road without a license n insurance etc
hi...unfortunately here in the uk to ride on the roads you have to have insurance and rightly so as these bike are faster than a moped .. I ride 99.9% off road and I have done this mod to help comply with e bike rules when riding public trails... the best advise I could give if wanting to ride on the roads is get some insurance as it also protects yourself if injured by other road users... i hope this helps👍🏻
@@SurRon_OffRoad Or you can simply get the BAC 4 or 8000 controller and 60V or 70V battery upgrade and if you see police just teleport yourself away at 90mph . Your police don't even have guns and half of em look like running would be life threatening to them , so why not . I got this bike because my motorcycle insurance was ludicrous and it was getting risky riding with none because if I saw lights I knew I had to run . To each their own . But it's basically the end of the world so why not have fun . ;)

hi flash five, yes you can coast without pedalling ..the cranks just work better short .. I think the kit came with bigger cranks at first but then they made these and there much better.. and better clearance too 🤙
How comfortable is it to pedal?
its very comfortable in full power assist mode but when pedalling with no power assist it can feel a bit clumsy but overall very good kit.🤙
Is it too easy to pedal, any way to make it slightly more effort to pedal, more resistance to turning? @@SurRon_OffRoad
no that's just how it comes im afraid ...but there's just enough resistance so it doesn't feel like your pedaling with the chain off.. hopr this helps🤙🤙@@jvinea

My kaniwaba freewheel made a horrible rattle and vibration cuz of the play the free wheel has.. so off went my pedal chain lol
Its such a shame that they supply low end parts for this kit.... mine was the same... i found the problem was more the chain as it was to wide and had to much side to side play... fine once i put a narrow chain on it👌

@@ItisMeMike yeah its works a lot better.... always going to have a bit of noise with it tho but it is a chain after all....the problem with it is that the sprocket on the jackshaft is wider than the freewheel sprocket ... the narrow chain will feel tight at first in the jackshaft sprocket but it will make its own seat after a bit of use....good luck with it and i hope this helps👍
Interested in what chain you replaced it with and if you have a link to it please? My original that came with the kit has just snapped, and I I don’t know the correct size 😞

@@bullion666 you can Make one with bicycle chain.. mine comes out a tad short. But you can crank it on there and the chain will stretch with time. . but i don't even use it now. But yea just Make one from any bike chain. Or can buy a bike chain.. they're 10 bucks.. keep the master links and can make a couple of them

I've never been pulled on mine as mine is road legal .. so tax and insurance and the road legal surron and your good to go👌... we never see police as we ride 99.9% off road... hope this helps👍
Seems like you're better off kicking the ground to propel foward then using these pedals.
I'm sorry that it seems that way.. they will propel to 38 mph.. but I will be honest with you, I got rid of them ages ago .. there a pain in the ar%e.. 🤫
Putting a pedal kit on a EV MXC does not make it a bicycle. All you guys are doing is getting trail closed for legit MTB C1 Pedal Assist riders.
Thank you for your Opinion 🙄... but over in the uk there are no trails to close as it is all mostly on common or public land... any1 can use them from walkers to riders... some are even older than your USA its self and still going strong... so no, cant see them getting closed any time soon.😂
