  • Learn how to make crispy deep fried shrimp! Breaded using panko bread crumbs, these classic fried shrimp are crunchy on the outside and sweet and delicate on the inside. Served with cocktail sauce, these are delicious morsels of the sea!
    What you'll need:
    approx. 1 pound 41-60 size frozen shrimp with the shells on
    1/2 cup flour
    1 tsp seasoned salt (or use Old Bay Seasoning)
    2 large eggs
    1 1/2 cups panko bread crumbs
    1 quart vegetable oil (for frying)
    cocktail sauce (see how I make it here: • How to Make Cocktail S... )
    Place shrimp into a large bowl filled with cold water to thaw. Separate shrimps so they thaw evenly. Let sit about 10 minutes.
    In a small bowl combine flour with seasoned salt. Mix to combine.
    In another small bowl, whisk eggs with 1 Tbsp water.
    In yet another bowl, add panko breadcrumbs and season with an additional 1/4 tsp seasoned salt.
    When shrimp are thawed, peel leaving the tail attached. Place into a colander to drain well.
    To bread, coat shrimp in flour, then egg, then panko breadcrumbs. Set onto a plate. Continue with remaining shrimp.
    To fry, heat oil in a heavy pan over medium-high heat to 350*F. Working in batches, fry for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes or until golden brown and done on the inside. Do not overcook! When golden brown, remove to a draining rack and let drain. Serve with cocktail sauce. Makes 40-60 shrimps. Enjoy!
    Seasoned salt recipe:
    2 Tbsp salt
    2 tsp white sugar
    1 1/2 tsp paprika
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    1/4 tsp turmeric
    1/4 tsp onion powder
    1/4 tsp garlic powder

    I'm a 60+ year old native of Upper Galveston Bay who loves loves loves our abundant super fresh seafood, and I love to cook too. I stumbled upon this video, and it's almost exactly how I fry shrimp when I go Panko (sometimes I fry 'em with cornmeal). Great video; excellent instruction very nicely shot and edited - this big time shrimp snob approves! And YES, panko crumbs for sure, they're far superior to any other crumbs for this.

    I saw this recipe a week ago...made it today and honestly it was sooo good - definitely will be making more from now onwards. ps. As I wanted more flavour and spice to my meal, when making my egg mix I decided to add red chili powder, a bit of milk, and salt and whisked away!

    Excellent presentation ! Tiger shrimp when butterflied (full body ) turns into an amazing taste treat, the effort to dodge or eat around a shell, stimulates the desire to eat the portion. Ghee (drawn butter) is better than Cocktail sauce. I find 50/50 on that?Thank You!

  • @ARCSTREAMS
    @ARCSTREAMS ปีที่แล้ว

    i recently made these but i dont bother to remove the shell, once fried they are nice and crispy easy to eat without even knowing and they add more flavor, also i dont bother with the egg wash i simply coat them in flour and then i turn the remaining flour into a batter with either water or beer and dip them in it then coat them in the panko they stick much better and give a nice coating and finish , i even do my fish the same and sometimes dont bother with the panko and they still come out nice and crispy battered, i also save the shells for making shrimp broth for soups etc

  • @xDuNWrYx
    @xDuNWrYx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    little tip dont just drop your shrimp in right away you want to hold on to it and let the oil fry it for not even more than a couple of of seconds we do this because the additional weight to the shrimp from the dredging and breading process will drop and sink the shrimp to the bottom
