    I love the speed of your description, no messing just straight to it. Easy to follow without churning through 30 mins of vid. What a huge process that is. You make something quite daunting, straightforward & systematic. Well done you!!!!

    Just completed the job with this awesome tutorial - thanks man! And regarding the breather hoses I noticed the following: if you disconnect the lower end of that hose, behind the lower water cooler, you can loosen & attach them at the tank without touching the electrical harness😅

    ahh.. just did the sprint superbike filter on my 1299sa with a flash from brentune. so far making 191 HP at the tire and still working on tunes that may pick up another 5 to 10. wait till u do a new windscreen. lol..

    Awesome how-to video! I did my air filter without taking the fuel assembly out. If you disconnect the fuel rail connectors and move them out of the way, you can wiggle the air filter out carefully and wiggle the new one in.

    Been watching ALL of your videos since I got my 1299S...but I definitely should not have smoked so much good stuff before watching this one.
    I'll have to watch it again.
    Tomorrow.
    And again.

    Yet again, great video that helped me along with doing this myself. There's something terrifying about taking the gas tank off such an expensive bike but this turned out to be a lot easier than I expected. It looks crazy but the actual work itself wasn't too difficult, maybe just a little time-consuming.
    I tried multiple times to pull the air filter out of there without removing other parts or fuel tank but just realized it wasn't worth the hassle and ended up doing exactly as you showed in the video. Thanks for the tutorial!

    It's a good idea to torque the front subframe cap screws while you're in the air box. Procedure is part of the service schedule.

    • @FancyAnimal

    Good news! The motomillion code still gets you a discount - makes it the cheapest sprint filter I could find. This was a handy video as I'm also replacing the squirter/thermostat as it has cracked.

  • @dmartin23

    The bikes ECU automatically adjusts airflow without a flash. Hence why the bike works in difference places with different altitudes around the world.
    It also said on the sprint webpage that a flash is not needed.

    • @dmartin23
      @dmartin23 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Moto Dutchman you won’t ever get 100% with any map. The map will be set to what ever air conditions are in the dyno room at the time. Different when you are a race ream and you re map the bike at every racing location to compensate for the different conditions, that’s when you get most of the filters performance.

    I purchased the carbon fiber frame p-16 filter. It's a bugger to get in , the clips go of the front of the bike & those 2 notches go to the top. There there to have a place to grab the filter to remove it. It snaps into place very very good & I feel it will be hard to remove ? Big difference in performance over the K&N Race filter.

    I have a 2018 ducati 959 and I got a carbon framed P08 F1-85 Custom sku 403546 and it says, because of the filter being rated P08 it does not require an ecu flash based on it being a P08 filter.
    Also, they do not have an installation guide directing you to make a successful installation.
    Does this filter come with a gasket to ensure a seal?
    The P16 type would require a flash of the ecu

    • @Dutchman0
      @Dutchman0  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is good info. For the P08, the bike has the ability to do its best and adjust to the change, so it's not "required." Some people want to squeeze every last fraction of a horsepower out of their changes (or they have a convenient way to reflash the ECU), and a reflash with a proper mapping after any intake or exhaust change will be more beneficial than letting the machine adjust itself. The P16 doesn't have any kind of gasket while the P08's frame is all that rubbery gasket material.

      That's really handy to know, this is a great tutorial but I was starting to approach the 'I can't be bothered' attitude.
      So basically just remove the rear bracket, earth cable and fuel pump/line connectors?
      Did you leave the breathers on the front right of the tank attached?
      Thanks in advance for any advice.

    There was mention of an ECU reflash required after the change. Is that to update the maps for the higher flow, or just to reset service lights. Either way, any recommendations on a map/flash device for this upgrade?
    I am getting the $99 sprint filter and not the $300 sprint filter.. Would a flash be needed?

    Mmm I have worked on a lot of car’s and motorcycles! Ducati is the only new bike that is not mechanic friendly! If you do not know what you are doing don’t do this! They do not sell you a repair manual for a reason.

    • @djdjalien
      @djdjalien 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You wasted a lot of money for that! It’s very expensive book. Need a clean environment for the work he is doing! The tank as an air box is a genius idea to save weight, and make overalls size compact. However it creates a problem because the airbox is huge a dropped extra small nut or bolt will make an expensive fix.Torque specifications is all I need! Put it together same way take A part. But if you unsure about doing this and need a book, best not to do removal of the tank related work. Mechanic shops have insurance for mistakes. I’m sure most people watching this does not.

    • @djdjalien
      @djdjalien 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In not trying to say you don’t know what you doing! But it takes a perfectionist to do work on these bikes. Even the people that put these bikes together make mistakes! The clutch plates was improperly installed on my bike from the manufacture. I did the work myself, 1299 2015 out of warranty. An average mechanic shop will not tell you the real reason why your clutch went out prematurely at 10k miles. They tell you be a little bit more careful with the clutch this time, but hell man I’m dumping my clutch out, and only powering it up! My water pump is bad not working properly $360 oem parts only! Thanks but no thanks I put it on myself!
