picked up a set of m8 screws and this helped a ton with changing the oil! for the record the torque specs are below. Thanks man * Oil drain bolt: 13 N.m (9.6 ft.lbs) * Oil filter cover bolts; 13 N.m (9.6 ft.lbs)
Thanks Ken. Great to know and see you take care with your bike; like you said, no one will take care of it like you. For some mechanics doing it day in day out it just becomes another job and complacent can set it. I’m hopefully going to be getting a v2 later in the year.
Great video man!! You covered every little detail perfectly!! I was a bit hesitant doing it myself on this bike since the oil filter is completely different but now I am 100% certain that its simple to do! Thanks for the heads up on how to remove the filter cover, as I am sure I would have been prying it and what not to get the damn thing off...LOL.
Thank you very much for this video! I like the sentence that it is better to change the oil by yourself because no one cares more about the bike than the owner. And I fully agree! perhaps I will make also a video for cleaning the oil intake mesh filter. I believe it was never cleaned by the official ducati workshop...
Mate this was a very informative video, thankyou very much. I have not had my Panigale very long as was wondering were the dam oil filter was located :D Great job :)
minatormyth if you do this first Time you will be faster second Time than any other Bike before.I have a zx10 R and the 1299 i am much more faster on the 1299 than on a zx10r.but the first Time it takes a lot of Time😁
Ken can I ask - have you ever removed the clutch engine casing?? I want to swap my current 899 over to a nice new shiney one. Once I’ve drained the oil I’m presuming I can go ahead and remove the cover ?? Or do I have to drain the clutch aswell??
Just took mine to the dealership, did oil change and new tires, it was a BMW dealership and tried to ride a couple hours after I picked it up, gave me a engine code and was a lil bit of smoke, smelled like burnt oil, next day the light it’s gone, it still smells a lil bit like burnt oil which I’m hoping it’s just from spills, anybody has an idea?
Hi you said the bolts we’re 8 mm which bolt down the oil filter then you said you need a m8 bolt to get the oil filter out isn’t that the same as the 8mm. I thought they were 6mm or is that just for the 1299
the bolt securing the filter cover is 8mm...I used a M8 type bolt to screw into the filter cover (only) the filter cover has threads for an m8 bolt. the 8mm bolt does not touch those threads...it threads deeper into the engine casing...hope that makes sense.
yes, its kinda confusing to explain but yeah you get it...the 8mm stock bolt goes straight through the filter cover and threads on the engine casing..holding the filter cover in place....the filter cover itself has threads too...fitting a much bigger diameter screw..(the m8 bolt) its means so that you can thread an m8 bolt in and use the bolt as leverage to pull the filter cover off..
I'll humor you, after doing this oil change I ride the bike (as you should) to test things out. I sit on the bike, stand it up and have somebody check the level. its the same level as I have after the oil change. so yes this is the correct reading. either you can't tell what upright is or your whole driveway is tilted.
Well I would suspect your driveway isn't leveled or your stands are crooked...that's not a very safe stand if the bike is shaking and moving the level. best to get that checked.
You can always tell when someone's not a mechanic. M 8? Do you know what the "m" stands for. Most mechanics would call it a 8 milimeter bolt or 6 millimeter bolt. Oh, by the way that "thing" you were putting back on with the o rings is called cover or cap.

Amazing. I don't own a Ducati Panagale but I'm planning to get one and i now know how to change the oil. Thanks laddie :)

Im torn between this and a R1m...haven't made my mind up yet!! Great vid cheers!!🇨🇦
Thanks for this video. Some great tips and I'm sure it'll be a million times easier to get the oil changed in my 899!
I’ve just done a service based on this video and it’s was pretty easy. Thanks very much.
What about the oil life on the dash? How do u reset it ?
buy a obd2 tool to reset codes
@@optony9606 thx man
Keep in mind the cost of the OBD scanner that works for ducati vs having a dealer clear the code. Some do it for free..depends what you got
Thanks, for the video, very informative. Im doing my own Ducati oil change now !!

Thank you for the tutorial. I have a 899. I’d like to change the oil myself but how do you reset the service interval counter for the oil?
Sait tu comment remettre l'indicateur de maintenance à 0 ?
Tu fait comment toi ?
Merci d'avance pour ton retour ✌🏽
Thanks for the Very Informative video, Definitely Helped me out with My Penigale

Nice video bro! Congrats!
Thanks a mil, really appreciate it.
Did this simple out change and started just fine. Turned it off and then tried again but then it just kept cranking but no start
Hi Ken,
How many lites for the ducatti 1199 2014 plate and where do I buy the items from?
Does the bike have to be on ground level? I see yours is on the stand
thx dude, doing mine tomorrow 🤩🤘
Thanks for the video. Great help !!! :)
Great vid thanks mate. That's my dream bike
You and me both!
That debris on your oil plug is called METAL.
are they really? you sure? i dunno man. better check to make sure. make sure to taste the black fluid and make sure it's oil...what an moron

Ken Moto thanks so what you are saying is that the 8mm bolt is only threaded half way so bolt slides through hole
yes, its kinda confusing to explain but yeah you get it...the 8mm stock bolt goes straight through the filter cover and threads on the engine casing..holding the filter cover in place....the filter cover itself has threads too...fitting a much bigger diameter screw..(the m8 bolt) its means so that you can thread an m8 bolt in and use the bolt as leverage to pull the filter cover off..
Ken Moto ok thanks for that ken it makes sense now have a great day
Good job!
Good video! thanks!
As your bike is only on the rear stand, it is not perfectly levelled to check the oil level on the side glass. I did the same mistake btw
Wrong, but thanks for the concern.

I can see the level moving when I put the front stand on...
Well I would suspect your driveway isn't leveled or your stands are crooked...that's not a very safe stand if the bike is shaking and moving the level. best to get that checked.
Ken - are you implying that your driveway isn’t perfectly flat and with the bike on the rear stand the bike is perfectly level?
Thanks for this explanation. Pray for me to have one of panigale in my life. 🙏
You can do it!
Very good!!👍
how you reset the mileage??
Have you try Motul 300v?
Don't feel the need to.
Nice vid
nice tutorial
Is it the same for the 1299 S,?
i imagine it would be similar...but i havent worked on a 1299 so i cant know for sure.
THe oil change kit is the same part number for both so I would assume yes....
This bike has never been in the rain.
And it shouldn't
nice video.
That’s a lot of debris for a 3,000 miles
I didn't know my bike had "panels".
they are called panels dumb fuck
don't use a dirty rag to wipe dirt from oil filler hole
I almost forgot to cycle at the end good thing I watched the whole video.
shell advance??? omg.... please change oil !!!!!
No.
Signing off... I can't watch anymore.

M8 is the metric thread diameter number brudda...not the head size...
