$5k large more, for the exact same truck with a few more toys - it’s incredible Ford couldn’t keep the price in check here. The 2021 would definitely be the best choice is price was kept at the same level as the 2020.
Just as a comparison I bought a 2020 Lariat fully loaded (which will leave the 2021 XLT package eating dust in terms of equipment) and it was $53k in 2019.
I got my 2020 502A FX4 3.5 eco lariat for $49k last October. Talk about a deal.

23mpg on the highway, on the 30 gallon tank it is 690 miles of range ...and people say the 700 miles on the hybrid is impresive
And if you get the 36 gallon tank it jumps it to over 800 miles
The only problem is most Ford techs are claiming these ecoboost motors have serious issues. There is a common issue with the timing chain breaking after so many miles. I would just get the 5.0 V8, 18mpg on a 30 gallon tank isnt that bad. I basically get that with my 2007 f150. Also, dont buy 4x4 trucks if you want the better mileage, the 4x2 pickups wont have the future maintenance issues with a front axle, & always get 3 mpgs better the 4x4 trucks.
@@bobdennis4801 my 18 coyote has 36 gallons and on the highway i get 26mpg from dfw to Laredo tx about 450 miles trip ill make it half tank 1 full tank back and forth so 700 aint nothing to me unless it has the 26 gallons for 700 miles 😂🤣🤣🤷♂️
@@michoacanom4320 the tank that comes with hybrid is 30 gallons. So I agree 700 isn’t impressive. I get more than that when I drive nice with my 2020 3.5 Ecoboost.

My new ford and a lot of other peoples newer fords have been adding miles when the vehicle is off. Mine went up an extra 10,000 miles in a year and ford is denying it. Write your mileage down every time you’re done driving and keep track. Ford needs to take accountability for this.

It's about 40% of a change, I wouldn't change it on a business perspective. It's way cheaper to make it the same and sell it for a bigger profit margin. When Ram got bought by the Italians their whole truck changed inside and out. Thats why it has a Lamborghini interior and way better facial features. The Italians know how to make cars look good. That being said I'd prefer the American Ford. After all Henry Ford moved America. 😉

Not a fan of the middle part of dash in 2021 but had nice vents on side and rear look better in 2020 and I like way middle radio part looks in 2020
Like the new Ford a lot. Definitely improved all the way around especially the interior. I'm not convinced it looks as good as the Rams but I think I like the horizontal screen setup better than Rams vertical one. Wish Ram would offer a console shifter.

I like my 18 f150 with a V8! Chrome package just like old trucks! Chrome looks tougher. Painted looks like plastic to me.

You should probably show the options for the xlt you are describing. Not all xlt’s come with the same options...

I love the way the old one looks. The new ones grill is just plain and boring.
I think the new looks wider because the stance has been widened a bit. I like the look the new cloth over the old. I wish they had a soft cloth like the cloth seats of the 80s & 90s.
The 2021 is a step up in looks and styling.

I really like the 2020 Lariat model but the 2021 looks good too. Also Ford got rid of the Abyss Gray color. It was so good! I'd pick the 2020 just for that color.

Today, 2+ years later, with the way used car market is, it tough choice for someone like me whos in the market. Crazy prices, low inventory. I guess both are just as good.. I'll get what I can get.
Actually the market is better than what it was in 2021, except interest rates.
If you prefer a cheaper payment, dont care a whole lot about fancy features, the older generation is good bank for your buck. If you care more about features the new one is a solid choice for many years to come.
I don't want you to take it the wrong way but the xlt sport 2021 model does not have the same interior as the normal xlt 2021 model. you should have had two normal xlt or two sport xlt for your comparison
I have a 2019 800a Raptor and do not get some of the features the 2020 XLT gets, like the Nav and the heated seats. I feel being its an upscale truck, it should have some of those features. But it is what it is I guess

The Ecoboost might be powerful but it sounds terrible compared to the 5.0!
Wider, a tad taller maybe. Great look and upgrade overall except the older side mirrors look more functional.
Interior dimensions are the exact same though.

The 2021 is just better. IMO the F-150 is now the best half ton. The interior is just as good or better than the RAM. The power-trains were improved and the technology was refreshed. Great comparison!
I would say it’s a close second now to Ram...IMO.....
@@leedanielson7452 the RAM interior plastic is thinner, the HEMI and ZF-8 is dated, the E-Torque was a great addition because this is what makes the RAM performance wise competitive.

The 2021 is the Sport edition and the 2020 is not. The Sport is a step up so not apples for apples.
So when that shifter button doesn’t raise the shifter then what???
Then you're left stranded and hope your vehicle is still under-warranty or just empty every pocket to fix it

Bro, the only things different between the trucks ecstatically is the front end, interior, and the rear lights. From far it’s basically the same, but I’d go with the 2021. That being said, there’s not a drastic difference between them.

I don’t like the new 2021 F-150 front ends at all, they look too much like the Ranger front ends. The best looking front ends were the 2015, 16, & 17’s. They looked bold and beefy. The newer models look cheaper. The 2020 Lariat front end is better looking than the XLT front end. I’ll take the 2020 over the 2021.
You are so sadly mistaken. Just wait until you see them on the road. My 2021 XLT Sport looks MILES better than any F150 prior to it.

@@robbieeades1956 I'm just not a fan of the cheap hard surface interior and outdated infotainment on the older models. I also prefer the more aggressive hood, the signature headlights, the wheels, everything about the interior, and the functional side vent badge derived from the raptor on the 2021. It's just better in every way.. trust me, I've owned them both.
Is it just me that i like truck with column and no push button start???
Same, I test drove a Toyota Tacoma with all the bells and whistles and could not get over the no push button start. I also prefer the column shifter instead of the central shifter that electronically folds itself inside the center console. One less thing to break.
I never like the Ford's rear bumper, and doesn't wrap around into the rear fenders like all other brands, it looks just tacked on and a bit flimsy.

I like the 21 model way more, and for the purposes of this video, where the particular 20 model lost me was ben picked a model with the front bench seat with flip up console. 🤮

The F150 is sadly just a SUV now with a bed. But hey, that's what the consumer wants. It's too nice for anything besides a daily commuter vehicle or mom wagon.
Lol so trucks should be loud, unsafe, fuel thirsty, slow, and void of all creature comforts? GTFO boomer. This isn’t 1975. They still have basic trucks - aka XL trim with the smaller cab. A lot of us want to tow/haul in comfort with our families inside.

Are the 3.5L motors the same generation in both trucks ? Or does the 2021 have the same motor with a few little tweaks to make it slightly different but the same model number ? Would that be the same for the 2.7L line of engines ?
Same gen for both engines. I believe they got slight power bumps but nothing major was done like it was between the 1st and 2nd gen ecos. Expect a new gen for egines for the refresh in 2024.
Lets do one for the ranger, wait cant ranger been the same way for 12 years now. Pretty soon will be most dated truck in the midsize.

doesnt hurt anything but so annoying in summer with windows down you push gas and let off it goes grr really loud
found out if radio is cranked and heater on high windows up its not annoying then.but shes fast that 5.0

There are no the rubber mats, that used to be in all other model and no front Censors on the Lariat, and no information is available for fuses, owners manual is very poorly done. You have to go on the vehicles dash screen to get any information you need. If you are not into computers or iPads what ever you are not going to be able
