This morning I decided to have a go at this after seeing your video last night. I had to work outside as my garage is not wide enough to make access possible. Got a kneeling mat in place and a small pound shop lamp to light the way! It was not easy to disconnect the plug when lying on my back across the door sill. Anyway I managed that bit and then it started to rain and I lost the lamp behind the centre console! Crap! Eased the side plastic and out fell the lamp and a woman's large ornate plastic hair pin! Gave the plug pins a quick rub and reconnected it. Bingo! It now works properly and I know what to do if it fails again. Not bad for a young old boy of 83 years! Many thanks for the good video and excellent talk through without any BS. I am very grateful at saving a garage repair bill at this time of year! Cheers mate! All the best to you!

5 year old video just fixed an issue even the mechanics couldnt find.
My connections werent rusted but the whole thing was loose and out of place.
Couple of minutes of pushing and pulling and making sure it was all right and problem solved!
    Thank you!

Thanks so much, during the winter, the car heater stopped working. I googled as I could not understand why this happened. But it turns out, this is a common fiat punto issue. I then watched your video. However, I didn't want to fiddle around trying to chisele the burnt off so went on Ebay (UK) and ordered one, you can pick up a heat resistor for £6-10. Anyway, before I fitted it in, another day, I took out the cable so it will be loosened. I did the fix on the pavement, it was a bit fiddly as the heat resistor was way back. I layed some cardboard, used amazon packaging on the ground for my knees, then took the cable out. I went tight in the car, used my fingers to push the tab, eventually the heat resistor came out. I took pictures, pin 5 and 6 was burned out. Before I even put the heat resistor back in, I plugged the cable back in and turned on the car. Yess, the heater was working.
Then I took the cable out, pushed the heat resistor in, pushing the tab down and it slotted it. Note, the Resistor does not connect to anything in the white plastic casing. The White plastic casing on holds the resistor in place. Then plug the cable back in, job done. Took less than 20 minutes, did it on side of my house parked up.
My biggest regret was putting this off, I ordered this weeks ago when it first broke in December and only fitted it in. Now, from the research I did, during the winter, best to keep the heater on around no.3, putting it on maxiumum heat and no.4 will likely burn the heater out. If it does happen again, well it is a easy fix and will cost around £6 to do, with no garage fees required.
Thank you so much for your video, very helpful, as a female diyer, I was able to fix this so this is a simple fix.

I implemented the 1 to 1 as in the video and it worked directly. Don't buy a new blower motor or resistor directly. Try it this way first. It worked for my Fiat Punto Grande aswell. Greetings from Germany.

Thank you thank you Back Street Mechanic - great fix. Had the same issue on my fiat punto evo....initially sent to garage to fix 3 months ago, which they did and charged me royally. It went again today whilst out on a drive with my son who is using the car for his test tomorrow. Followed your instructions and works like a dream. HOW EASY!!!
Wont be putting it on setting 4 thats for sure. Thanks again

Superb. Followed this video and my heater’s have gone from completely unresponsive to fully functioning! Took about 10-15 mins as well! I had to use a nail file (I know) instead of a needle file as was he only thing that would fit, still working like a charm.
    Much appreciated sir, thank you!!

Thanks backstreetmechanic. The fan in my Punto 2012 the fan only worked on 4. After getting the resistor out, checking it, cleaning the contacts with a small file and putting everything back again it works again.
    Cheers!

For the people with a Punto Evo, you first have to remove some interior plastics near the transmission tunnel. The resistor is located behind some sound deadening up and under the glovebox.

Was no interior plastics where the plug itself was though? Behind the glovebox.

Thanks for posting this video. It looks like the components are common in a lot of FIATS and I think also IVECO vans. Looks like the draw of the resistor and fan is too high for the connectors and in some the fan fuse heats up and melts.

How do you replace a broken heater control switch?

  • @oglavaksarica9405
    @oglavaksarica9405 ปีที่แล้ว

If you only have 4 speeds, then the 10 amp fuse on the rheostat itself has blown. This fuse
it does not burn out due to a short circuit, but only due to heat, you can replace it with a synod that is placed on water boilers. From 10 amperes. But that didn't solve everything, because the cause of synod burning is dust in the fan itself, as well as its bearings, which need to be cleaned and lubricated.
