- Please Note* As a few people have correctly observed: I made several references to there being texture improvements with the Mesh installed. This is in fact incorrect: the mesh adds High Resolution data to fill low-resolution areas of the default terrain mesh.
With particular Focus over Ireland (quote) "the terrain has been enhanced and has had over 200 locations added with a remarkable 2m/pix resolution."

I would say, not seen this with British Isles mesh, but previously when I was on a 30Mbit connection (rather than my current Gigabit fibre) - I saw severe lag and even server offline errors whilst flying over the Himalayas with the Himalayas Orbx mess installed. I think as per @onegoodknock's comment, that performance and texture quality can differ markedly on the base sim dependant on the speed and stability of your connection - and as such anyone with < 50-60mbit may want to be cautious.
Certainly on my current connection, the overall stability of the Sim, frequency of texture popin, and overall performance are much better than they were on a slower connection - the whole FS engine is highly dependant on a reliable and fast connection, and that applies as much if not more so with these kinds of scenery mods. (I believe that much of the scenery data is still being streamed from FS servers even with the mod installed - the 10GB is extra mesh definition, and potentially higher quality generic textures to use in certain areas.
I can definitely tell a substantial difference - mainly with fidelity - how close the scenery looks to the actual location. Many UK areas which I have flown over in the Sim, just don't look quite right by default - even in some cases being barely recognisable... and with this installed I could immediately recognise roads I have driven down, even a cliff formation I abseiled down in Snowdonia... Resolution is definitely better - and generic textures such as Uk fields actually loo like uk fields... and not so generic.
Very happy with the purchase for myself - and would definitely recommend it for anyone who flies over more hilly terrain, as long as their connection is not sub-potato.

Bought this last week and havent touched the sim over easter, booted it up and wondered why it was looking so good this morning. Completely forgot I'd installed it!

It does sharpen out those less desirable edges; cheap too.
Well worth the money, I flew in Ireland the other day and it incredible! Scotland is also greatly improved. I can’t wait to fly out of EGEO in VR.

When you switched to Ireland that sold it to me amazing because I have been down at this airport beautiful part of the countryside around Donegal dont live to far from it. Just gonna go and buy it now for pc and xbox series x. Great video Huddison. Thanks for the review.😊

Mount Snowdon, and the surrounding areas look very nice with the mesh. The heather on the hills now seem to be more prominent than they are with the default.
I'll have to go take a fly around them area myself.
You keep mentioning better/more detailed texturing. This addon doesn't adjust or modify the texturing in any way. The texturing is exactly the same as it was before installing the mod. All a mesh does is modify the 3D landscape (Hills, mountains, valleys, cliffs ect).
I think there's a little bit more than what you are suggesting my friend:

@@Huddison- Nope, @nvstewart is correct. Nothing in that description relates to *textures* . It is the MESH that is '2m/pix resolution'. I have to say, you've made quite a faux pas by telling viewers that the textures are better with this installed. It literally does *nothing* with the textures. It's 100% only a mesh addon. I hope your viewers don't buy this on the basis of getting a texture improvement.........
I hold my hands up and admit I was incorrect regarding texture improvements. I've now altered the video's description to reflect this.
Regardless, for a low cost, this addon _does_ improve the look and elevation realism of the British Isles for many(tastes dependant ofc).
Question; I have their Great Britain products. I don’t know if this mesh product is already part of that, or not? Thanks
It's not: the GB products add points of interest and buildings; the Mesh improves the land Mesh over the Isles.

I got this for the Xbox. Can’t say I’ve noticed any difference frankly. The textures and draw distance on Xbox are completely down to server performance.
I’ve been off work for a couple of weeks so I’ve been playing late at night into the early hours. Post 12.00-1:00 the quality improves massively, presumably due to fewer people accessing the MS servers.
Latency may well pay a factor in your own findings (I was having a few latency issues when using the Mesh over Scotland ((you may have(((or not))) noticed).
There does seem to be a little more detail with the mesh included.
This is definitely a very good addition to the sim but just a note of caution..... I saw this on the Market Place and thought it would be good, being generally impressed with Orbx products. I put it in my wish list then paused, closed the sim and looked at my Orbx account. I had already purchased this same produce direct from them a while ago! Maybe two copies of the same product would give a nice 3D effect but I doubt it.....! Care is needed when items appear in both the Market Place and the developers website. I cannot imagine buying an aircraft twice but a piece of scenery or airport????
That's a good point and I agree: check you don't have these types of packages bought elsewhere.

Not so much impressed about the result flying over the Scottish hills, however the surroundings in Ireland in the second part of the video looks very natural (real) indeed. I will follow your advise and many thanks.

I hope you know the default scenery also uses A MESH... it's a 3d modeling term... it just means tridimensional form.

and it's just silly...
And like all "mesh packs" is just a big bloat of placebo" -10GB of nothing. "Cunning" developers that make a "fair" buck on the back of easy gullible people.
Want to see it there is a difference?
1. Pick several precise places not "fly around and fell the thing than say it seems..." . Go crash there/ get rid of the plane and pick the drone camera and look at the things. Like hills, valleys, rivers you know a little. Circle several times around to really absorb the scenery. Then switch to the "mesh" (rofl) version... Is there any difference?? Is it??
2. Use the (free version at least) of "MSFS2020 Map Enhancement" and switch the "textures" from MSFS (old Bing) to Google Maps...this will nullify any "effect" from supposedly new aerials (textures) the terrain might have. Because the... "mesh" is made primarily of an elevation map... elevation maps that are not that different than the default ones (many times are simple upscales with no "new data" and suffer from artefact corrections and blurriness) and also are not processed by the game engine like the "devs" or "customers" are imagining... the pictures of the elevation maps (map means texture here) are used to generate a true.. "mesh" (ie an wireframe - you can turn it on to see in dev mode) which in turn will receive on top the textures from Bing or Google.
There are so many variables at play that the result cannot be anything else than a Placebo. If you find a place... like a hill in the middle of London or in the back of your house that is... better represented in.. "MESH" version is just a simple coincidence... you can search and for sure you will find worse cases too. That's because the default "mesh" (elevation map) is already good enough and maxes out the possibilities of the game engine anyway. If you wanna see what I mean grab the "new mesh" for Himalaya... default looks bad... new looks the same - because the game engine can't do more.
The same limits hit hard when it comes to the rivers. If the game engine would have been able to show more the rivers would have been the first to benefit!! And the roads. Instead we have tilted rivers and roads and what not...

Don't like it. Scottish mountains are rather "sparse", frankly after the clearances. I think a turd is being polished...
