Ok I just purchased and spent 40 minutes going around places with the drone cam. I live in Devon and mostly fly in the south of England, which means I am well aware of every piece of scenery for this part of the world, and sadly, this Orbx scenery clashes with most of them.
For example the beautiful HMS Victory model from Seafront Simulations now has an ugly, much inferior version enmeshed into it.
I assumed there would be POIs of places like Exeter Cathedral, Killerton House, Teignmouth Pier, Paignton Pier but seemingly not.
Other models, such as the Tamar bridge and some buildings they have put up in Plymouth clash with my RealVFR scenery of Plymouth.
The only POI models I've found in Devon were Totnes Castle and Compton Castle, both very low quality.
I can't see any farm animals at all yet, and there is no missions or discovery tours that I can find anywhere for the churches and castles.
I'll try it properly over the weekend, by which time we'll hopefully have a POI list to know what is and isn't there, but right now it's very disappointing. I think over the last three years I've downloaded every southern England add on on Flightsim. and bought every payware scenery and between them all, they do a better job than Orbx seem to here. I might end up uninstalling it.
Glad to hear ORBX South has been released as I live in East Sussex. I own all 3 ORBX Great Britain add-ons for X-Plane and now for MSFS. I’m going to do the same as I did with my X-Plane ORBX versions and fly around the whole of the UK coast line in various GA & Helicopters. It took me one week from Shoreham-By-Sea airport (EGKA) and back again, travelling anti-clockwise, stopping off at various airports which were close to the coast . I definitely recommend this UK tour if you haven’t done it before. I wrote down on a notepad every airport stop-off and every aircraft I used. Some parts of the UK are stunning from the air at altitude 2000ft - 5000ft. A must flight for all, especially UK resident simmers 😉

This really makes my day! With the newest edition, the UK scenery is now complete and to my opinion one of the most realistic enhancements we might get. It also makes PC Pilots's UK Discovery Tour so much more fun to fly over (again). A new area to explore.

Do you have the Vessel's UK South East scenery pack by Seafront Simulations? It adds lots of superb boat models including Nelson's HMS Victory which I can see in your sim too. I hope they don't clash! The worst part of Orbx scenery packs is the disregard they have for other developers models, even sometimes Asobo's own World Update POIs and they just whack one of their own models down on top of it.
If they have done the same here it could be that Portsmouth ends up looking a lot worse than it does without GB South added, for those of us who own the Vessels add on...
That's one I don't own currently, but your post is quite interesting.
@@Huddison Vessels covers all the ports, docks and rivers east of the Solent up to as far Rochester. If you have a look at their screenshots you'll see that they focus on places like Portsmouth and Dover especially, so Orbx might clash badly with it, which would be a shame, especially as Orbx is where Seafront Simulation sells their products
@@kevinbrook7033Like you I live in Devon and would love to see some accurate lighthouses, like Start Point, when flying around the coast. As I’m on XBox SX I’m not holding my breath on that improvement though.
It seems like this is something Orbx should look into ASAP.
I have Vessels UK South East installed too. I just downloaded UK South so I'll head down there to check.

Thanks for making this video. I've been trying to find out what is featured in this but Orbx' own advertising is useless. Not even a list of POIs anywhere. Been looking forward to this product for years, living in Devon!

Lots of places have had a facelift with this addon; it's great fun to explore with.

I have been hanging out for this release. Awesome. I hope my home town of Lowestoft is well depicted along with Norwich, Yarmouth etc.
At least one or two of those places should be enhanced.
@@Huddison I'm downloading it now. I hope Suffolk and Norfolk get some enhancements. I think I'll now have to buy the North and Central packs to complete the set.
I can fully attest that the North and Central packs are excellent.
As I was curious: I flew around Great Yarmouth and it looks to have a fair few more buildings (& generally looks more dense) than the default UK scenery.
That was the holiday destination of my childhood ;)
@@Huddison Yes, I spent many a day at Gt Yarmouth in the summer. It always had a lot more to offer than Lowestoft. Some great fish & chips too.
Nice video, but sadly not thrue and over enthousiast.
My default Oxford scenery is exacly the same as yours with GB ORBX. So no enhanchment at all. Also is my london scenery at default the same. The Dover scenery and the spinnaker tower (southampton) has indeed some little (mostly some ships) improvements.
Maybe your review first default flight was with the Bing download error active? Its not the qualtity we are used to from ORBX i think. But the price is also low.
I got it last night its magnificent unfortunately i can't find Beachy Head light house and Folkestone Harbour railway bridge isn't there 😢 having been there in 2010 it's a shame it's not there.

I'll pick this up as soon as it drops for the XSX. Huddison did you ever download a pack that enhances the lights on the planes? I can't recall what its called. I noticed it on the Marketplace a little while ago and it sounds really nice, just wondering if you've had any hands on experience with it?

Brilliant! I never knew that the "South" , Was available until i came back here :) Certainly your video does not really do it justice, By this, i mean.. I Purchased, downloaded, and flew for myself to see it :) ( now have all three regions of the UK :) \o/ and by this? i do NOT detract from the quality of your vids Huddison ;) well done, and TY for bringing this to my attention ;) At this low price for this? I would get this before any more aircraft (that i wanted to purchase today) mainly because i'd get more enjoyment flying my fav aircraft around the south with True earth, indeed
than wanting something else to fly. Note to All: Please delete, then reinstall your rolling cache if you use this to appreciate the very best from true earth south.
Edit, I had Bamboos "Severn" Bridges installed, i took them out "Prior" to installing TE South (just to test it), and yep the old, and new bridges for the severn, are included with TES ;) Certainly Dover has been realised way better, yet Dover Castle? sadly has not been included i see. Albeit...Added a big thumbs up from me.

Well that’s the problem, it doesn’t say what it includes. Yes it says there over 700 items, and mentions a few of them, but there should be a full list somewhere and a map of the area it covers, it’s very annoying not to include this information.
100% agree - this should've been available at launch.

@Huddison not worried about xbox, just the in game market. I've 90% transferred to just pc now
I've just checked the files. This addon clashes with Seafront southern coast addon in Portsmouth harbour. You end up with the docked big ships on top of each other. If you remove Seafront you lose all the boats in the marinas, but strangely get Warrior in the Museum area. Also as mentioned Victory looks trouble.
It is ashame this has happened.
Hopefully a possible patch will fix this.
I needed to know important info like hit on fps and disk size.
No FPS hits (like the other GB products in the range) & the install size is shown on the page, linked in the description.
Should get photo enhancedment coastlines is great and seafront uk are great addons
Default is fine. All is realative for me
Shame that Microsoft/Asobo have not fixed the uk yet. London looks horrible up close.

Are there any upgraded cities in the South package ? Are boats in marinas modeled ? They did such a terrible job advertising this package it's unbelievable. Almost no information on what's included.
Several towns and cities seem to be upgraded with this addon - true the info on exactly what was updated could've been better.
No mesh improvements, especially for the coast. That is a no sale for me.
Do you have to disable anything, like 3rd party airports to avoid conflicts?
Not that I've encountered.
Didn't purchase because of the "FSX-ish" static ships, (made to look like moving ships). I have Seafront ships with actual moving ships, so I'm saving my cash for now.
Has the servern bridges been modelled (the prince of wales bridge)

Anyone know if you bought the PC version you'd still have to buy the Xbox release or does the one purchase cover both ?
You'll need to wait for it to come onto the MSFS Marketplace for it to cover both the PC & Xbox Store versions.

Dover, disappointing. A few extra boats, not much else.
Portsmouth looks so much better, but Dover looks awful still and I could tell in your voice as you never mentioned anything of detail as you flew over. The only additions it seems they added were the static ferries. Bit of a shame Otherwise I would have bought it.
There's a fair few other additions with this addon. Dover has a couple of additions over the default state.
MSFS so badly needs some bullets and damage models with their warbirds!
More of that to come in FS2024 I reckon.
