    Thanks Painless! New sub here. I just ordered this radio from BG. Hoping it arrives soon. I am completely new to multi-rotor but have the bug to do my first build. Having never flown anything before, (aside from my kids Syma x5sw), the missing trim doesn't bother me at all. I'm more interested in FPV for racing (maybe) and definitely freestyle, (just need to learn to fly LMAO!!)
    Thanks for the vid and keep up the good work!

    I bought the updated version of this radio and receiver (as a package) from eBay for only $35.90 (free ship) only because of your VERY helpful videos.
    It will be my first radio.
    Since the seller is in China (where it's made), I should have it in my hands in about 1 1/2 to 2 months from now (ordered 1/17/17). This will give me plenty of time to memorize all your videos on it.
    Yup it's time to get away from the cheap toys and get with the big boy toys!

    Glad you contrasted the different versions, was confusing to see in the forums. And HK is selling the Turnigy branded version of this without any screen holder, BUT they give you two RX's, the iA6B and the tiny iA6C which would be good for mini quads. (However they don't seem to offer a firmware update yet.)
    About the display holder -- do you think it could handle one of those typical 8" FPV monitors? The ones with built-in batteries are a bit heavy, so the grip has to be firm.
    Really appreciate your continued updates on this radio!

      +QC Support we've used the larger while monitor stand with a 7" LCD diversity monitor fine. The black version is not as sturdy or deep. We will be looking at the Hobbyking version in the next few weeks (it's here by the desk as I type!). Stay tuned!

    I may have missed one of your videos, but I am interested in the correct method of installing a cloverleaf antenna to replace the existing 'wire' antennae fitted to receivers. I have the Radiolink AT9 TX/RX

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cloverleaf is more used with FPV systems to provide a strong link with the model in lots of orientation. I've not used it on a 2.4Ghz radio. I'd be interested in how it works if you do.. Best of luck!

    You have covered how to update the firmware on the FS-i6S and some of the new features. Recently you showed how to set the Output mode to PPM. But in the latest 2.0 firmware Output mode also has settings for "Serial" as either "i-Bus" or "S.Bus". Have you discussed this in any of your training videos? Really enjoy the videos!

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've not covered those in any of the video, we've found what we did worked. A lot of the current generation support ibus natively now (ibus is a modified version of sbus - ish) but I'd normally set it to s-bus as it's what I'm used to and know that most flight controllers support s-bus in some fashion. Best of luck!

    If you're interested Hobby King seem to be making this under the Turnigy brand. I have no real love of HK but what does seem to look good if their version comes with 2 receivers. The normal 6 channel and a TGY-iA6C which appears to be new. The new one appears to be CPPM and IBus and is small. I really like the look of that one.
    Reasonable sure it would bind to this version. One problem they aren't selling them standalone yet.

    Please help my beepy situation if you can. I got a single antenna version of the flysky X6B from the Eachine Vtail in an F4 board and although it works, my Fsi6 beeps constantly.
    Readings on screen
    On screen shows
    IntV1 :0.00v
    Tx . V1:5.15
    Err1 : 0%
    The port puts out 5.2v when I read it with my DMM.
    How to stop the damn beeping without removing my TX speaker or flashing firmware because I have 12 models I really don't want to take apart just to bind again to fly this tomorrow?

    Hey Painless360,
    i am on the verge on selling my spektrum dx6i. I constantly get problems with failsafe and shitty recievers for the Radio.
    I really like the i6s but iam struggling to decide which version to buy. Since the hobbyking version is finally in the EU warehouse for 52 bucks and comes with the new i6ac reciever (ppm and ibus only) which is great for my small quads build, iam leaning towards the hk version instead of the banggood version.
    BUT it still has not been updated yet.
    I feel like the original flysky version is updated much more frequently which makes it that more attractive to me.. since you can load more firmwares on the radio in the future (maybe even opentx, who knows).
    Considering your comments, i hope you will put up the video of the comparison (turnigy vs flysky) very soon!
    Anyhow, from your standpoint right now, what would you recommend?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love the Spektrum kit and never had a problem with it. The HK orange receivers are good and very cheap too. See the latest video in the i6s playlist to see how the Turnigy version is different.. Hope that helps..

    Hi, will it be working if I connect ibus port of the FS-iA10B receiver directly to sbus port of the PIXHAWK flight controller? For the latest firmware update, V2.0, there is an option to choose output method on FS-i6S transmitter either ibus or sbus, though there is no particular details about it in the manual.

    Hi! My friends all use the Flysky FS-i6. It has the same Trainer Port like the i6S AND the TRAINER-Funktion in its Menue. I bought the i6S because it looks better and i read it has the same Trainer Port. Yesterady i wanted to use Trainer / Student Function with my Friend but the i6S doesn't have a Point in the Menue for the Trainer Function like the i6 has. Hi I have the fs-i6s radio with the latest firmware v2.2. I have a flite test mini arrow I'd like to use this radio with but I don't see an option for elevon mixing. I went to the mix menu but it looks like I can only mix one channel with another. Have you found a way to setup this radio to work with elevons?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly not with the existing firmware. Let's hope it's added soon.. You can get around this by popping a small flight controller in the wing then that does the mixing so the radio doesn't need to..

    • @tletang
      @tletang 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the suggestion, I have a couple spare naze32 rev 5 boards kicking around. Just researching how to set them up for a flying wing now. Looks pretty straight forward. Using a naze will give me some additional handy features like different flight modes and a beeper.

    • @CorkKNIFE
      @CorkKNIFE 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was reported on forums and here on youtube that the early firmware allowed the use of the shoulder radio dials for that use. Now with the new firmware when the dials return home, so does the gimbal making those dials just about useless. You might want to research further and then opt to NOT update the firmware so you don't lose that valuable feature.

    I have just had delivery of this FSi6S radio - from BangGood ( I use BG a lot and no complaints) however, it arrived OK and with the "old" firmware. At first check everything seemed OK. Then I updated the firmware to the current latest on the FS download centre online. Going through things I arrived at ADJUST STICKS - I can move them till all the blue lines are at max each side and thats it - they stay there and the back button fails.
    I have to shut the radio down and start again. I have also had some issues where when I turn it off it loses the bind.
    I simply tap the RX bind and it locks in again without the normal bind procedures. So far FS and BG are clueless as to a solution.I cannot get any other version of firmware to see if I can "reset" something.
    Factory Reset does clear out most of the setting - but not always and does not cure the menu lock up. I just wondered if you had any idea on what could be the root cause. My guess is ( a wild one) - a faulty processor chip. I have re - updated the firmware with new downloads to avoid any chance of data glitches when downloading. As it is its achieving the status of door stop.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've not seen that here (glad you're another buyer from BG that they do a decent enough job for!). I'd have a look in the forums and check for an update to the update. Best of luck!

    • @vinnyvangogh4365
      @vinnyvangogh4365 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      FYI: it seems that the FS-I6S firmware - which is shared with TGY-i6S and the Evolution - has a bug" - ( as seen in YT reviewers vids)and that seems to be related to the "stock" FW used - older ( first batches sold) TX when updated seem to be OK... but when they changed that to what seems to be coming out now - this bug affects some TX but not all! So its a selective bug! FS have known ( surely!) about this bug - but no update to kill it. I suggest anybody with the bugged up TX contact their seller and get a refund - not as described.
      I ask, would NOT being able to use the Adjust Sticks function actually be detrimental? Running it through a TX setup in LibrePilot, everything shows OK and flying with a beat up "testbed" 450 quad - its flies OK- responds to the sticks as I expected it would. However, there is always that BUT - the bug may wake up and affect something connected to stick calibrations or - or - or

    Hi friend, nice video ...
    But in my transmitter aileron and rudder was reversed that means , when I move aileron to right side my quad goes left side same as rudder. I'm using kk board, rctimer atlas flight controller system. You give me a advice like use reverse option for the aileron and rudder. But it makes no change like arming method in kk board. But in atlas flight controller the arming method was like dji. So we need both left and right gimbals of a tx. So the reverse option makes the arming method of quad was goes also opposite. So my quad was turn on ,when the throttle was goes 100. This is my problem I'm my quad . Can you help me . Give me a solution bro....

    Please, I have looked on so many videos and forums for this controller and I simply cannot find any information on the effective range of this TX. It is concerning to me that the antennas are internal, and I have concerns about this transmitter only being reliable up to a couple hundred feet with direct line of sight. So, based on your experience with this TX, what is the effective range with, say for example, the 6 channel FS-iA6B reciever?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can easily get up to 1.5km in ideal conditions. Antenna routing and placement on the model will make more of a difference than anything..

      Thank you so much for the response! I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this model, it should be arriving next week. I also decided to get the 10 channel receiver for this TX. Hopefully I can get at least a 1000 meters out of this TX/RX combo.

    Hi,
    can you really get 8 channels through cppm on the ia6b? I could get only 6. I saw on the hobbyking video that you can get 10 or 8 channels from the ia6C.
    Also do you know if you can mob the receiver to send the REAL battery voltage down the telemetry link and not just the 5V powering the receiver?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, 8 through PPM and 10 though I-bus. Can you see all 8 channels moving on the channel monitor screen on the radio first?

    • @TeeSCee
      @TeeSCee 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, ofc. I can see the channels on the radio since it outputs 10 channels, but the receiver only outputs 6 to the FC. According to the RCGroups thresd you have to flash ia6b with a modded firmware to get 8 channels through cppm.

    the real question: are firmwares compatible between all this radios? I believe hardware is same inside, so they should be, and we can buy and don't think of software features? Will you try that?:)

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, but interestingly the latest version of the one designed for the FLYSKY original and the rebadged Eachine are identical once loaded.. Only the Turnigy is still running the older version.

    Good day Painless360, I want to get a radio for my first fpv miniquad, but I also want to use it with higher end features such as GPS and autopilot system. Should I get a Frsky Taranis? Is it the best choice?
    Thanks a lot!

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +navychriscc this radio would support that too. Depends if you want all the extras that a taranis will give you (better telemetry, more powerful programming, more models, better community support etc. ) this radio is nice for the first one for the hobby if you want to try it without breaking the bank. See our video on choosing a radio for more information. Best of luck!

      this radio is excellent
      i just to receive one and i love it
      far better quality than turnigy 9xr that i own (very cheap )
      very compact,light and very beautiful radio! the quality is very good (inside the radio the pcb is very well made, no flux etc etc)
      only the stick are not bearing like high end radio but at this price range..
      there are some features missing like more than one mixer...you can contact flysky to ask them what features you want in the next release
      i have done this and they reply to me the same day!!
      for me we need:
      more mixer
      wing support
      more memory models( smt 32 inside the radio)
      more timer setup

      We are just finishing the video comparison on the Turnigy version (rendering as I type!) and I agree - a HUGE amount of bang for the buck with this little thing. I'm not sure how much more they will add into the firmware as it'll start to compete with radios over twice the price..

    • @derivas007
      @derivas007 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      don t hesitate to send an email to flysky with you video
      you can ask to add features you would like to see in a near futur(they will reply to you)
      if we are many to ask them to add more features it will be done in a next release

    HI, I just receive my Flysky FS-i6s. How do I bind it to my Syma X5SW quad. I read through the manual and search all over youtube. I can't find the instruction on how to bind this transmitter to toy grade quad. Thank you.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Why do you think you can? Only receivers made for a specific radio will bind and work with it. I'd ask the vendor for what radios it will work with.. Best of luck!

      I've not used ours with the later version, the older screen holder was big enough. The new one looks a little small for such a deep display.. Best of luck!

  • @deepdivevr7244
    @deepdivevr7244 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    also...could you please take apart the 6ch receiver to see what can be removed , desoldered to make it more compact and lighter.....i think the size of the receivers is biggest problem with the radio. i have radiolink at9 converted to a single stick....hate the size , the screen , menu controls...too many tumblers...what is good is long range , small 6ch receiver , sbus...

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +alisher rakhimov this is a budget radio. There are always compromise on something built to hit a low price. I'm sure that there will be smaller ppm and SBus recievers for the radio in time.

    • @deepdivevr7244
      @deepdivevr7244 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Painless360 i found that the 10ch receiver has ibus which is flysky version of sbus...it is supported in CF and BF from now on. but the weight and size of it ;(

      Actually, I don't agree. That's only when the flight controller is setup specifically with altitude hold mode enabled. If it was for APM and Pixhawk users with that specific setup on their model why isn't it in the manual/specs? ;)

      +Painless360 3d heli/copters may be? or, they could not decide on mode 1/2?:) anyway, it is a bit useless to review one radio with firmware updated and other - with stock firmware. Differences would be not between radios but between firmware versions.

    • @Painless360

      +gordon drummond Not at all. The whole point is to provide an overview of the product so that potential buyers of the product can see the good, and bad, points of it. Actually with the firmware update this is a nice little radio for a Quadcopter builder on a budget but, as you point out, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Happy flying!
