whatever you do, DO NOT TRY SUPERGLUE
I now need to replace the whole assembly cus superglue got down the plastic wire housing and the wire won't move anymore. OEM replacement on the way.
Thank you! I did exactly that. Used a blue size wiring loop.
Awesome!
I have owned three Ford Rangers …….. have replaced many a shifting tube but this was the first time that a loop was broken and there’s not a single video except yours dealing with how to fix this problem short of pulling part of the dash and replacing the whole damn indicator package….. A great simple fix here thanks much
I wished I had seen this video sooner. I tried to fix the broken loop by crimping on another wire loop but it was a little too long to get the proper adjustment position for the indicator. Now I have to go back in and try this method with the crimp-on wiring eyelet. Save ~$50. for a new part and more disassembly to install it. Great tip!
Man thanks, I was 2 min away from ordering another cable assembly, simple fix.
Just fixed my 2010 Ranger with this method. Genius man! Saved me some money and a lot of time. Thank You.
Thanks. That turned out to be my problem. Quick and cheap fix.
How does the wiring eye Fit over the hook? Because the wiring eye in this video Does not have a big enough hole in the center to fit over the hook. Should I use a larger eye??
Good frinnnn idea!!!! Thanks
2001 ranger edge
Lost reverse/park. Still drives has fluid.
I tried adjusting the wheel and fixing my dial but nothing helped. Loss of words any ideas boys ?
I'm not sure if the shift linkage is the same on a ranger, but in the f-150 s they tend to loosen up overtime, check out my video on it; th-cam.com/video/3UIwV5LvRKQ/w-d-xo.html
My wire broke on the other end. How do I fix that?
Unfortunately on the other end i would think you'd have to replace the entire assembly :/
Great video by the way! My hook was broken just like in the video. I think a wiring terminal might work as well or maybe it is the same name for a wiring eye.
Mine broke all the up at the actually shift indicator
haahah tnx for video i wouldve never thought of this,,,awesome,,,,,,,
Brilliant! Thanks much
Legend for sure
Fking genius! Thanks
