Thank you very much for the video, helped me instantly. Fixed this super easy. Just a note, i was able to adjust wheel without taking ANYTHING apart. Just laying on my back, the adjuster wheel on my 2001 ranger is easily accessible. Maybe a slight contortion but easy!
My white plastic piece that holds the adjustment wheel was broken so I used a garbage tie to keep it together. How can I buy this part and fix it myself?
you don't need to disassemble the panel and the metal cover, just get a wire the won't easily bend then you can manipulate the dial indicator using a wire.
IF THIS DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU ...YOU NEED TO THEN SHIM UP THAT WHEEL ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY...AND IT WILL BE CORRECTED.... VIEWING WHEEL AT 2:07 - Put key in....shift vehicle to L1 (lowest gear)....this will give you access to unhook very end of cable from indicator linkage arm...unhook....unscrew thumbscrew assembly this guy is adjusting and screw on TWO #1024 nuts (Home Dep-t) just BEFORE white and black thumbscrew adjuster...that would be placing them just before/against the first white plastic section you see at 2:07 where the cable comes DOWN from the indicator above and meets this adjusting wheel assembly....there's a single screw mounting that assembly.... once under there with flashlight you'll see it....take note on how squared section mates/mounts to metal.
Hello, my indicator is all the way to the right and won't move whenever I shift gears it just stays to the right will this video hello me fix that problem? Thank you in advance.
That's funny, cause I can't find the part I need on your website. 1996 ford ranger instrument panel dimmer switch. That's what I need and you don't have it, the people that do want $160+ for it. One was as high as $437.
To follow up on this one I bought three from a salvage yard, all three work and it was indeed my problem which is now fixed. Now to just fond out why the odometer only works half the time.
Mine is loose like in the video. I went down and found the adjuster but it seemed to already have a zip tie on it, probably front he previous owner. Should I remove it adjust and put another zip tie on it? It was fine before, but I guess the zip tie slipped and the gears became loose again. What should I do ?
Hey my 98 Ford F-250 truck has this misalignment issue but it's not the cable. My cable is fine and I can twist it and it'll move but it's not the cause of my problem. What else can it be? Is there something in the engine bay that needs to be adjusted or do you know other causes? I can move shifter into every gear but gear 1, which is the last one. When I'm in 2 it shows 1 and I can't move any further. Adjusting this cable moves the needle but it doesn't change the fact that when I'm in R it shows D and when I'm in D it'll show 2. Any suggestions? Thanks
+Yo Daddy We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
my prindl is all lined up just fine yet in park it points to the right of the letter P as shown in your thumbnail. it doesnt have any trouble starting or anything, its as if gravity just pulls the handle down and makes it sag to the right
This won’t help that. If you’re having trouble getting it to fully go into park, it’s probably a problem with the shift linkage. Under the truck on the driver’s side there’s a part that converts cable motion to a short rod that shifts the gears. It is plastic part that snaps into a bracket welded to the chassis. The plastic clips on mine broke, causing it to be loose, and the pickup won’t fully go into park. Replacing that part-or some creative use of zip ties to hold it in place-should help
Adjusting the wheel doesn’t seem to do anything for me. The bracket and cable are still intact so I’m not sure what the issue is, has anyone else ran into this problem before? The vehicle is an 07’ e250 if that makes a difference
I have 1 question I have 2 key copy’s with 1 original key and am trying to program the other 2 copy’s but it wound start the engine all the dashboard lights light up but it just don’t start can you guys help me please?
+Alfonso Garcia Since there could be multiple reasons why you’re experiencing this difficulty with your vehicle, I strongly recommend that you have a reputable mechanic inspect it. They’ll be able to troubleshoot the problem and tell you what part or parts you’ll need for the repair. If the vehicle is equip with an anti theft system, that may be one of the reasons the keys aren't working or they could have been cut incorrectly.
+Kyle Powell Thank you for checking us out. Some steps may be the same, however we recommend viewing a service manual for the proper adjustment. 1aauto.com

I really wasn't worried about my alignment. But I had to teach my niece and nephew how to drive. So thanks bro👍
Thanks for the video man! The plastic bracket that houses the wheel broke, but I was able to hold it in place with a tie wrap. Works fine now.

All my positions align up with their setting accept P. What gives?? Is my cable stretched or the trans switch broke?
Work great. A word of caution though....these parts are sharp! So be careful but even better wear gloves.
