I suffered the loss of 6 close loved ones during the pandemic and I was going through menopause at the same time. Between grief, isolation, depression and sleep trouble due to menopause, I gained 30 pounds! 😔I put my favorite sexy jeans in a box in my storage room. I tried, but I couldn't lost the weight. Last year I got on hormone replacement therapy and a few months ago I added low dose testosterone to the HRT. That combined with a healthy diet and exercise did the trick. This week I finally hit my pre-Covid weight. I took my sexy jeans out of the box and tried them on. They look fabulous. I'm so glad I kept them!
I’m glad you lost your menopause weight but you don’t need hormones to lose weight. I lost 52lbs on keto at 58yo, post menopausal, no HRT and back in my size 7 jeans. Sorry for the loss of your loved ones.
I'm 61. Never felt horrible thru menopause, but couldn't sleep well.started estrogen patch with nightly 100 MG progesterone pill. Sleep beautifully. Always exercised, lift weights and walk daily 60 minutes but HRT has flattened my tummy so much! Eat clean 85%. Yay us !
@@kimbaker4352 After doing much research, I started hormone replacement therapy for the health benefits to my cardio vascular health, my cognitive health and my bone health. Gaining the ability to lose the weight was just an unexpected benefit of HRT.
Light lavender is one of my favorites because at old age (89)with gray hair and paler skin I feel that it gives me a brighter more up lifting look in summer. But I do choose where I wear it. In winter I love a soft colored cashmere sweater. I agree on big flower prints. Reminds me of old bedspreads and drapes.
Me too. I want to invest in a cashmere sweater or cardigan, can you advise me where from please. So much out there and some cannot be trusted. Thank you
What about Iris Apfel her signature look was tons of statement jewelry. At 100 she just wore what she want with zero concern of trying to look younger.
I'm about to purge my closet, have a charity truck coming next week.....I hate getting rid of clothes but some things just NEVER get worn. You helped me decide what to toss, thank you! and at 61, I agree about the heavy jewelry; especially regarding rings! If your hands are NOT aging well, a ring on every finger and bracelets will attract attention to them! Keep it simple and elegant! Great video again, Frederique!
Someone once said that wearing pretty bracelets would deflect attention away from your veiny hands because the eye would be drawn to the bling and not the veins. Who knows, really? I think it's a case of do what you like.

Great advice and love your channel and personality. With white pants though, I can't stop wearing them even though I am pear shaped. I just wear a white top and keep the whole look monochrome. Where there's a will, there's a way!
Great channel, just subscribed today. Being i am obsessed at age 63 with weightlifting, plus being petite at 5’3/108 lbs, I think I push the boundaries of occasionally dressing a wee bit young. I don’t show my tummy EVER or wear mini skirts or dresses, but I do wear high waist shorts with a 4” inseam. I recently decided I should start shifting my look to more of a classic elegant look. I live in a beach town where many people dress more boho, but classics are always in! I love pairing high waist pleated trousers with a graphic tee. And I absolutely love a wedge sandal paired with palazzo pants that cover them. Makes my legs look looooong because the pants almost touch the floor. 😉
Hi your comparison of grandmothers 60’s prints vs 90’s and 90’s vs today makes so much sense and creates a great visual as to what you mean. Great video and lot to take away from this one 🌻🥂
Jewel tones, occasional pastels, white, cream colors, black, navy. No shorts not even capris. Long pants or long skirts. The dry cleaner will do basic alterations. Worth it. Three-quarter length or long sleeves. That's the age 67 scene, jellybean.

Im older, and I find myself attracted to skorts (shorts with a cover-skirt attached) this year. They are short, but my legs are halfway nice, and I dont feel overtly self-conscious like I do in shorts. Im basicly wearing the active golf/tennis/pickleball outfits and I love them. Definitely not for everyone, but they are 50+ UV and made from quick drying fabrics.
@@maryokeefe5351 Also perfect for running errands, shopping etc. I even have a black skort with lacey trim that I would not refrain from wearing on an evening out. Thanks for sharing your fashion thoughts! I'm 52 and currently going through a self-improvement stage regarding my wardrobe and appearance. I gave away some clothes that don't fit my style anymore. I decided on stop dyeing my hair and went for a pixie cut a few months ago (which I LOVE). I'm short and petite, now I'm embracing my body type. I used to drown myself in way too big clothes trying to hide my body. Now I'm feeling liberated!
Thank you Frederique for your great fashion advice. I don't care for wedge shoes either, or distressed jeans. Lavender/orchid is a color that is very flattering for me. But currently I don't have much in that color in my wardrobe, except for a khaki type jacket. Re: shorts, I like skorts. They are sporty, comfortable, and look better than shorts. Keep up the good work, Frederique!
I purchased a beautiful forest green satin. /silk skirt from your store on Amazon and I love it. I happen to have a beautiful silk blouse that matches it and a beautiful fitted crochet. Top that matches it. I'm extremely happy with it.
Every person has the right to dress how they want. The important thing is to dress according to your body type and feel good. there are many other TH-cam channels with 60 year old women who have a modern look and they look great. denim shorts with a pretty blouse can be beautiful.
Of course you have the right to dress how you want. No one is suggesting otherwise. She's just pointing out the looks that can age you or look outdated, not telling you you can't wear them.
Denim shorts don't flatter women over 40 in general. Why on earth some women really believe they can be over 50 or 60 and wear denim shorts? It's ridiculous.
I agree with you 100%. When you get to be a certain age, you should be transitioning into a more sophisticated and classic style….. Otherwise, people can see right through your masquerade
Great tips as always. I need to go through my closet and donate for sure. I’m 52 now and it’s true, it’s better to wear more elegant clothes now. When I see a “wiser” lady wearing something too much of a teenage fashion look it is not a good look. Like an oxymoron 😅 Love your videos ❤👍
I love watching your channel. Now a days it's almost like anything is on to wear. I see so many styles, even low rise and bell bottoms are everywhere. I believe if you love what you are wearing and it makes you happy, then wear it. Love you❤
Nicely presented video, and some good advice but I disagree about the shorts in particular, nothing screams I'm old more than capris and heels or bermudas and a t shirt. Some of the 'after' dresses look pretty daggy to me, even on younger models.
I semi agree about the jewelry. I find that the delicate chains are incredibly boring even when layered. To me, they are invisible and make me think why even bother to wear it. It doesn't enhance the outfit in any way. However, the huge chunky statement pieces are a bit too much and look messy and can be too much! I have never liked the big bib necklaces, especially the platic ones. I believe there has to be a happy medium of style that doesn't look too plain and boring, or look like you're wearing a garage sale around your neck. I collect Mexican antique Taxco silver jewelry, also native American, and artist jewelry. I also like antique costume from the 50s thru 70s. Don't get me wrong, I have gold and precious stone jewelry as well. For me, it all depends on where you're going and the mood you're in. I just can't adhere to trends just because everyone is doing it. Especially the minimalist jewelry trend. That stuff just looks CHEAP!
Body type and personality type play a big role in the type of jewelry you can wear well. I've always preferred the delicate styles because that works well for me. Chunky jewelry tends to wear me rather than me wearing it. But I see delicate jewelry as potentially more elegant, not automatically cheap, so it makes me feel more elevated myself to wear it.
Wow, I didn't know that my two 22-carat delicate bracelets (one with pearls as well) look cheap to someone. It's not that I would even care. I'm skinny, my wrists are tiny and very chunky bracelets look cheap on me.
Even though my taste would align with a number of your ideas, I found your comments to be a bit prescriptive and a tad older thinking in part (despite I’m nearly 70). Recently, I took a 30-year old formal gown to the original designer’s studio in NYC so he could add a zipper as after 3 decades I was tired of needing help to get out of the dress at the end of the night. He shared with me many fun stories from his career. Most interesting to me was his comment that the biggest change he’d noticed in dressing his well-to-do clientele over the past 5 years was that he rarely heard requests anymore to hide a body part or make a figure something it was not, while such requests had been common in previous decades. Granted, most of his clients will have maintained good figures, but this surprising observation seemed to reflect a more modern mindset. I agree with many of your comments (embellishments, unsophisticated colors, wedges are not for me!) but I do think that avoiding some looser items for example, can be aging because it can make an older person look like they’re out of touch with what’s what are the modern silhouettes; I.e., it can “age” a woman more to wear a last-decade silhouette of tight top and tight bottom in an effort to show (whom?) they still have a good figure. Well, that’s just my opinion. Thank you for your channel - I worked a few years in Indonesia and hope you are enjoying Bali!
The young girls, it’s ok to wear that kind of outfits. They’re exploring themselves because when they’re getting old . They’ll stop wearing that kind of outfits anyway. They’re just done and get bored. Everyone has their own fashion style. Make them unique themselves. Thanks for sharing . 🥰🥰
I hope more people start subscribing to your informative and entertaining channel🤞- I stopped wearing my denim shorts (outside of my garden) in my early 50s - it was when I noticed that the skin above my knees started to look a bit saggy😲. I tried to walk really slowly so that my skin wouldn´t ripple 😞. But I soon gave up on that idea and came to terms with the fact that wearing shorts are passé forever! 💋
Frederique - just found your channel! You reminded me of some article (long ago) that talked about unstated rules (I guess) that young girls/women could/should not wear certain things (lipstick, panty hose (I'm old!) fur coats...) unless you had reached a certain age . I think it was that it was "appropriate." It didn't seem restrictive, but more a rite of passage as well as excitment - like getting your driver's license (in the States). Now, that I'm (much older) it seems that the reverse is (should be) true - short shorts and mini skirts?? um no. Loved your advice about getting rid of things that you used to wear, but hanging onto thinking that they might fit again - torture! Merci!!
I refuse to dress my age. This phrase is powerful, thank you for saying it. Indeed that is what dressing like a teenager says about someone. My sister tries to dress like her daughters and I am trying to steer her gently towards clothes that show her best features and conceal her little bumps. There is no shame in that. I observed this phenomenon in men that try to hide their hair loss with hair extensions, hats, combover. To me, it is less elegant, I prefer a man who styles himself and lives well with his hair loss.
My sister is in her 60’s and her doctor asked her why she still dresses like a little kid lol. She does! Really tacky stuff that shows her midriff…. She’s skinny but come on!
I so agree. We should not try to imitade our daughters. It doesn't show class. Going classy and feminine elegance is my personal style. Sportiv I only go when I do my sport.
Red has been my favourite colour since I was a child. I had a red trouser suit at the age of 7/8. Even when I grew out of it, I wouldn't let my mother throw it out. I am now 60. I have a red leather jacket, red raincoat ( definitely need one of them here in the UK) and I drive a red car!😂
I’m so glad you suggested sitting down when trying on shorts. I wear knee-grazing shorts so that’s not an issue for me BUT I think it applies to skirts as well - especially those with front and even side slits. Are you going to have to worry about exposing yourself every time you sit down, enter and exit a car or banquette seating, etc. ? Unfortunately, I have seen it happen!!
I just inform u that i ve bought my most parrot colourfull dress. It has italian city pattern! An i love it! :D I have modester dresses as well. To tell u hones watching the wide selection of fashion year by year as i go ager i go more bohemian style. I just like things which are uniqe and not mass fashion. Not to show off, just i love the fantasy in clothes. Everyone need to wear what is looks fine on them and express themselves. But all the advice during the video is right! Thank u! :)
I would like to add (for your consideration) 1. Paisley prints (I personally love them, but I DO think they look old) 2. granny-squared, or patchwork jackets and sweaters. Will leave them to the younger crew.
Thank you for the video. I wouldn't mind wearing longer shorts and skirts except that my calves are big and muscular and its nothing I can help - no matter how slender the rest of my body is, my calves are comparatively huge :'(. Wearing shorter skirts and shorts makes me look much more proportional and way less dumpy, but I am getting older and I do understand that it is beginning to look silly. I'm not looking for a better solution here. I've been trying to figure out the best way to deal with ridiculously large calves my whole life. Just wanted to bring it up.
I am the SAME exact way. In dresses, I have to be VERY aware of the length--either just below the knee or just past the calf. If it stops anywhere along my calf, I look like a pro-wrestler. It makes me look dumpy. One of my GREATEST CHALLENGES is finding jeans/pants that work. If they fit me decently in the hips, thighs, and knees, inevitably they will be T.I.G.H.T. on my claves. The most annoying thing--when I sit down they go up an inch, and when I stand back up they STAY there. So before I can move on I either have to bend down to fix it, or use the inside sole of my shoe to press against the opposite leg pant leg to trap it and push/slide it down. But if I get something more loose in the calf, they're too big in other places. It's maddening.
Hello😊 Your videos refresh me and inspire me to mix things up in my closet. I like to review my wardrobe each season to see what I will keep, get rid of, and what I need to purchase. I try to get one piece in the best quality I can afford. Will you be doing a Fall/Winter wardrobe planning video?
You really have ray, two summers ago I wore my usual tank top and denim shorts but I didn't like it anymore, even if I train something it wasn't like before, a white shirt was enough
I am so glad to find you again! I have followed you for a long time, but haven't seen you in a while! You have a new hair cut. It looks beautiful on you. I am inspired by your positive spirit and your pretty smile. It sounds like you have moved out of Australia. Are you back in France? Am I wrong? Shoes are a great topic. Sandals, sneakers, slip ons, or dress shoes, we all have a lot of choices. Now I want a pretty and clean shoe that I can walk in. I like cushioning in the shoe, and I can handle a bit of a heel, but I love the pretty little slip on shoes with skirts and shorts. They make your legs look nice, too. I wish you would do a video on swim suits and swim suit cover ups. I would love to see your opinion on those things. Also, about florals: I realized a few years ago that no matter how much I think I like florals, I won't actually wear them. I buy a floral print, I go to wear it, then I think it looks too loud and then I put it back and put something else on that I like better. So, I stopped buying florals, because I won't actually wear them. I realize that I like flowers, so I bought a lot of flowers and planted them in planters, pots, baskets and hanging baskets. I love looking at them and they real flowers can be colorful and as loud as they want and I don't have to wear it, just look at it and be happy! One thing is I might wear something floral in is a bikini! That's about it! Good to see you again, friend. Blessings and carry on!
5:00 Actually, I was thinking, "oh... I just bought some white pants for the summer (i'm a little bottom heavier than on top) so now I'm trying to think how to bring something white or shiney up around my neck or head. Figure hugging top, pants are straight-leg (not exactly "flowing" but maybe a tiny bit). OR I can layer an open vest over a tshirt on top. Thanks, I love these videos! Hi from Canada.
Hey, start resistance training and drop sugar++. Looking fit and get away with anything... And feel much better. Suddenly fitted into jeans I wore almost 30 years ago. So glad I kept them. 3sizes down, not planned, just happened... Discovered that all the belts didnt have more holes....
What if you’re very lean? Is it still a no to oversized? I love the feeling of wearing oversized clothes. My 80yr old mother says I look so sophisticated, but my clothes are too big. I explained to her they don’t come smaller than small. 😂 She’s never heard the term oversized! 😅

A good figure cannot be hidden. Whether you wear tight clothing or loose, a good figure will show itself, directly or via hints.
I hope more people start subscribing to your informative and entertaining channel🤞-
I stopped wearing my denim shorts (outside of my garden) in my early 50s - it was when I noticed that the skin above my knees started to look a bit saggy😲. I tried to walk really slowly so that my skin wouldn´t ripple 😞. But I soon gave up on that idea and came to terms with the fact that wearing shorts are passé forever! 💋
Thanks for sharing!!
Merci!!
welcome and thanks for subbing, please go to my home page on YT and check the playlist I'm sure you will find a video you will love thanks
Your new hairstyle is great ❤
Looking forward to FALL and ur advice.
Thank you this was helpful ❤
Love your videos! Great advice.
I so agree. We should not try to imitade our daughters. It doesn't show class. Going classy and feminine elegance is my personal style. Sportiv I only go when I do my sport.
Love your comments and eye (i mean taste) 😘🥰
😊 mmmm I do adore the "over the top" jewellery of Iris Apfnel!! And, baggy; can be fabulous, depending on how the fabric drapes and falls 🤗
Great video! Love your glasses!!❤
Great video- thank you!
YSLlip color red $100 a MUST HAVE in my dupe Chanel bag. ur contagious ❤❤❤
You are the epitome of a beautiful stylish woman …..
Love my red in everything. Not all together but red is definitely my color
Great fashion advice.
Glad it was helpful!
I love neon colors, my skin looks brighter and younger, but I use them sparingly, and in natural fabrics like linen or cashmere
Je t’aime Frederique! Wonderful channel.
merci missy x

Excellent information. Well presented and helpful. I subscribed.
Welcome aboard!
Ive just found you and have learned so much your are fun too. Thank you
Can you do a video for makeup tips in a hot climate?
I love the pictures you curate for your videos.
Great idea!!
Love your accent, oh yeah , o love your suggestions
You really have ray, two summers ago I wore my usual tank top and denim shorts but I didn't like it anymore, even if I train something it wasn't like before, a white shirt was enough
Subscribed! You are so beautiful, nice and wise! Loved the video! 45yo myself and I loved the tips!
merci xxx
Merci, lovely lady! From Buenos Aires
Thank you too!
you do a great job... love listening 🎧
Thanks ✌️
Blessings and carry on!
welcome back, yes a lot of changes, I moved to Bali a year ago :)
I love your content, darling!!!❤
Bingo. No more sugar in my morning coffee makes a huge difference for me. My stomach immediately goes flatter.
LOVE your hair!
Well said
A trip to the tailor and it will look great I love the color on you and are those new glasses nice❤
What if you’re very lean? Is it still a no to oversized? I love the feeling of wearing oversized clothes. My 80yr old mother says I look so sophisticated, but my clothes are too big. I explained to her they don’t come smaller than small. 😂 She’s never heard the term oversized! 😅
I love your channel
I love your channel Frederique! Thank you. Could you please turn off the sound of the x. Makes me nervous😊
Noted!
