    I can see your point. Good, honest video. I've been watching a lot of comparisons lately and things have really gone up in price. not just the bow but all the accessories for it. Sticker shock. I'm still shooting a Mathews Z-Lite. I know, what a cheapskate! It's killed everything I've shot at and it's hard to let that go. There have been so many advances that I would like one more before I can't go anymore. Thanks again.

    Thanks for making this video. My thoughts exactly. I feel the bow industry is probably just about maxed out on true ground breaking, "game changing", innovations. Mathews wasn't the only bow manufacturer that appears to be struggling coming up with BIG changes.

      @@georgegeorge3619 yes and no! I would say alot of factors have come into play! Apple has done this with alot of success as their track record speaks volumes. I think we are at the point where “systems” are key and thats what bow manufacturers are doing they are selling you a system being refined over the course of a few years because nothing is perfect out the box. Im in the hunting industry and build my business around products sold as systems and refine a few products over time to deliver a better experience for the customer. Now where it goes south is if you lose innovation or drive and make mediocre moves to advance the products or customer experience!

    Well put! I personally am super exited about the phase 4! But I am a first year bow hunter and decided after struggling to get my bow shooting the day before season starts that I want a second bow, so I’ll be going from a Reesen 7.0 solo cam to the phase 4! I’ll be changing worlds completely so it’s all exciting to me.

    I agree with your concerns regarding the rubber between the limbs breaking down over time. However having it replaced now and then is well worth the dampening effect. It’s a precision instrument, like an Aston Martin. You want to drive the car, it comes with tuning and maintenance.

    I don't upgrade my bow yearly, so I'm obviously not the target hunter. However, in almost all other things you buy year over year changes are minimal. You see this with cars/trucks, phones, computers, appliances, building materials, etc. It's small tweaks to a model cycle with a "jump" every 3-5. As technology increases those jumps become less and your starting point is already high.
    Your comment on market penetration/protection in my opinion is spot on. Aftermarket add ons for bows is a HUGE piece of the market. Only makes sense an OEM would want in on the game instead of sitting on the sidelines.

I have a 10 year old bow that takes deer, I did not know hand shock was a thing untill I watched vids on it, I thought my bow did fine. Looking at some of the general bow reviews it seems like that all the millions of deer in deer heaven taken by non (insert name) bow through the years are rallying that they were cheated and never should have been taken by a bow other than (Insert name).

Sold it a few years ago after getting a shoulder injury and rotator cuff surgery. Not archery related. I’m ready to get another bow now and nothing appeals to me like Mathew’s. I’ve looked into the others and I guess you could call me a fan boy. I’ll definitely be buying the Phase 4 this spring and will probably keep it for many years to come. I’m just not one to buy the newest model every year.

  • @Bluesplayer789
    @Bluesplayer789 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is a much needed video. To expect massive yearly changes from any manufacturer is not reasonable to expect as a consumer base. The slight improvements mean that when any punter is ready for a new bow over two release periods (12 months apart) they'll be able to find something with their preferred axle to axle and specs. I'm from a hearing aid background and the archery market by comparison is spoiled with options and still people complain. I can understand the complaints on pricing for the stabiliser but just put your old bee stinger on....they haven't taken that option away. Great vid as usual.

      @@PrivilegedBowhunter Mathews cams are not the fastest even with draw specific mods. Bowtech flip disc technology offers comfort/performance two bows in one and draw length experimentation. Elite Omnia now offering 1/4" DL adjustment and 1% let off adjustment. Mathews bows are notorious for being 1/2" longer in actual draw length for better IBO ratings. I have a 28.5" draw length, so would I order a Mathews with a 28" mod?

    Can’t imagine they didn’t test fire those new limbs literally tens of thousands of times. I’m betting the material between the limbs is a high $ vinyl? ,not rubber. I have no idea if it’s wedge locked to the limbs or has some high tech adhesive holding it in place. IMO, redesigning the riser to fit new sight bars and stabilizer systems is a gimmick of sorts to get people to buy more expensive parts- maybe not? Maybe all this is just part of the evolution of bows? Heck, I remember when I got my first split limb bow versus the single limb. Wondered about that lasting then. 👍👍

  • @fgpritchett64
    @fgpritchett64 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video and perspective. What I’ve always liked about Mathew’s is their innovation in attempting to take noise and vibration away. You’ll never have an arrow that travels at the speed of sound or faster so why attempt to make a super loud bow that slings arrows at 500 fps. A little exaggeration but you get my point. I got off the speed bandwagon over 10 years ago and started concentrating on having a bow that is the quietest on the market and Mathew’s continues to amaze me each year with their ability to produce arguably the quietest bows on the market. I have my small concerns about the 8 total limbs but it’s not so much a concern on durability but timing. I trust their engineers and QC team have put a ton of time and research into the product before releasing it to the public though. Thanks again for the insight. You just gained a new subscriber!!

I did with my phase 4 because im not about to spend 280 dollars on a fancy weight.. between that and the other 700 bucks you have to put into it to have a complete system I just cant justify it. I am literally shooting my stabilizer from my bear legit and its working just fine.

    The V3x 33 is an awesome bow the new phase 4 is just the same bow but with issue down the track with rubber deteriorating between the limbs over time I believe most bow companies are just tweaking small issues but trying to justify the price for the same technology let's face it same cams same rizer same ATA no real change over the years since the halon series Bows which are the Best they have Built IMO Rubbers cheap

    Had I not had an opportunity to shoot it in person I probably could have held onto my wallet and cash that day. Matthews bows are hard to beat from even 15 years back. How they up the ante every season is just amazing. By the way, I was comparing it to a V3X 29 that I already owned and still like very much. It was a very very close 2nd and I'll still hunt with it as a backup. I've got a seriously dedicated bowhunting partner that toured the Matthews facility and he said there's no way I'd shoot the Phase 4 as many times as it was tested. They just can't afford to send things out half-baked.

    Buy a Hoyt carbon if you want a lighter bow without a lot of noise and handshock. I dont shoot mathews any more. I switched to a hoyt because i wanted a bow that was versatile and light but could accommodate a high poundage setup. I shoot a minimum of 70 pounds. Bare minimum. My bow is adjustable from 65 to 80 pounds. No modules needed and it shoots a 350 spine @ 340 feet a second with a 30 inch draw length lol. No expensive modules and no need to worry about your hands getting hold. My carbon hoyt absorbs my body temp instantly. My hand isnt cold from a crappy out of date aluminum riser anymore.

    I came into the bow hunting scheme of things just a couple years ago, I don't have much knowledge on the old school compared to the new. I do however see little to no difference in the bows since 2019. They all love the same if not very similar. There's not much ground breaking developments or upgrades that I can find let alone feel when I shoot any newer bows. You can grab a bow from the 90s and still perform similar, if nor equal to the newer bows. I'm also irritated that In the old times, we have , had, have long bows and recurve bows that can put out more poundage than the modern compound bows. Once the mathews vxr, hoyt tx7, pse evo, etc etc came out.....there's really not much difference. Sept the price. Minimal upgrades that don't do much is not worth the extra hundred bucks, let alone making the bow over a grand.

Of course it's going to slow down but over 30 years of archery for me there has been great improvement of compound bows. So enjoy the more efficient changes but less changes in te h. My deliama has always been. Hoyt or Matthew's, both very good bows, and I'm about at a 50/50 buying buying one or the other year from year. This year probly hoyt because of there cams.

    D🤔es the individual become a better archer if they switch their equipment every year?

    Everything that people have been saying is true about how quiet it is and shock free. I shot the 33 with no stabilizers, and I couldn't hear anything other than the arrow hitting the target. The technology is nuts, but who's to say stuff can't wear out down the road, and it sound like a trx.

    Questions is why is it necessary to buy a new bow every year? It is waste of money bc there ARE no innovations it is just marketing traps for dumb n blind fan boys.

    You have to reinvent one of the oldest weapons on earth year after year after year... If they have 3 new innovations you KNOW they put 2 on the bow and hold one back for the next year. No speed increases in last decade. I mean they are pretty much up against the wall on how much more they can do. I have V3X 33 and LOVE it, but bow this year did nothing for me.

    Let's be real here, Mathews has had some real duds in the past. They have also had some great bows. I switched from a Hoyt to the V3x 33 last year. I just put money down on the 29 because it's such a nice bow and I want a smaller treestand bow. Mathews hit a home run with the V3x.
    The phase 4 is just over the top. There is no need for 8 limbs! Guys are on the internet talking about the noise difference, there isn't one! The stabilizer system is through the roof expensive. The general components from Mathews are super expensive. Not that archery isn't expensive. It's just at what point is it over the top? As for monkey tails get rid of them , go old school with rubber whiskers you won't regret it.

Next the whole stabilizer is so over priced it's outrageous! Hey you want it go buy it. To me this doesn't out so the v3x. I'd rather have solid limbs. As for the sound of a deer is going to jump the string they are going to jump the string. You can say what you want but the hype isn't worth the coin. Why are we trying to change stabilizer systems? To me they just came up with B's to hype the bow.
