Nice, they almost did what i perdicted. My comment on last video was: "Good to see this test. I do think you will get a pocket clip, a new screw and they will put the handfull of parts in there for you. All free of charge." So they even did better than expected, new parts and sharpened it. Thumbs up for Benschmade !!!!
Not surprised at all, Benchmade is TOP NOTCH about their repairs and sharpening. I've sent at least 10 knives to them and literally every time I get it back shaving sharp and fully repaired for zero cost. It's something I always mention to people who complain about their high prices, that you have a company that's standing tough behind their product.
No one is questioning benchmade's after market service as it is second to none. My question is why "at least 10 knives" have been sent back for repairs. I have sold 6 of my BM's, nearly all my collection bar 3 of them due to major issues such as massive blade play, really bad blade grind, centring being way off and even stripped screws. I have close to 16 Spyderco's and haven't had to return 1. All my BM's have been bought as new from reputable companies like KnifeCentre or DLT as have my Spyderco's. My point is that BM's Quality control is non existent as is evidenced by your "at least 10" and my 6. My other 2 that I have kept are meh at best and only one is bang on. The reason I have not sent them back for repairs is that I am an international customer(Australia) and the shipping costs to bounce dodgy knives back and forth is quite prohibitive . I have always loved BM but until they start making good knives more consistently and sort out their QC issues I am done with them as are sadly more and more other members of the knife community.
You would hope and think so. They are living on past glories and relying on their Brand name to continue feeding off of unsuspecting newbies and brain dead fanboys. Simple answer is that they just don't care.
I've never sent any in for repairs, only sharpening. Should've been more clear on that. If any screws were missing (namely beat up pocket clips and pocket clip screws) they replaced them without charge.
I bought my first benchmade about a month ago(407 Vallation). Still in awe, looking at it every day admiring how perfect this knife is. Blade centering is near perfect, the blade doesn't touch either side at all when folded. No blade play at all. The knife is an excellent design and large blade that is very easy to carry every day all day. The only fault was sharpness out of the box. It cut paper just fine but could not shave hair off my arm. It took a while of sharpening but I was able to make it truly sharp with my Wicked Edge sharpener. I probably won't ever be using their life sharp service
Sent in a 580 a few years ago that I had tried to take apart and messed up. They charged me $10 for re-assembly - that was it. They weren't even mad at me. Had excellent interactions with them over the phone, and was thoroughly pleased with their service.
FYI.. I lost the pivot screw on my Spyderco Police one time. I sent it back with a note saying I was fully willing to pay for the parts if they could send them, just let me know how much since it was my fault in my estimation. They sent me the screw free in the mail, no charge. I was very pleased. Not really a lot of money on their part, but a small favor by them went a long way with me. So often you get burned by people and companies now, it was a pleasant experience.
I've bought three in the last year they were all perfect. Guess I lucked out, glad to hear about such great CD. They are expensive, want to support our work force. Thanks Harry
Sent my 20 year old automatic back. They replaced some parts to tighten up the blade. Along with special instructions of what not to do. They followed it to a T. No charge.
I have only sent one knife to them. It was for a blade replacement on my 707. I bought a black combo edge that was heavily used and abused. I wanted a satin plain edge. It looked like they replaced everything except the handle scales. If it wasn't for the same scales being on it, I would've thought they sent me a new knife because it was perfect when I got it back.
Hey Jeff, Very good video. Very interesting situation. It's good to hear Benchmade takes care of their customers even when its the customer's fault. Excellent customer service. Thanks for the video. -Duane
I'm a electrician. I use my BM everyday, poking and prying. 90% is what you shouldn't do with a knife such as unscrewing Philips, flat as well as using to de sheath romex wire. It's with me everyday and I've turned around adding 30 minutes to my travel just to get it once. I've had pocket knives come and go and not a single one has had such an impact as my BM. I've concidere sending it back to be re sharpen and gone over but never can get myself to give it up for the 5-7 weeks as I've heard.
I have a Griptilian without the G-10 handles and I don’t like the pocket clip that came with it so if I contact Benchmade will the give me a different one?
Yah, they hooked you up. Good for them, good word of mouth and someone loves their job. You can tell the guy/gal who did the fixing loves what they do, that part got nothing to do with the sales reps on the phones when you call, this is about the person who does the actual fixing of the product, by what they give back to you. I get returns on my bench and not only do I fix the problem but I also do my best to make the product look as new as it possibly can, even if it takes a few extra parts and work to get it there. Nobody tells me to do that, not even the boss man. Pays off sometimes too with a nice phone call to the boss man, I love that part, :)
Od course there is no charge the lifesharp program is standard on all benchmade knives and its a rock solid program, im currently waiting on my 133bk to be returned
So I actually ended up buying this knife from him, I have to send it back. It malfunctioned after about 2 months of having it. I have yet to send it back, I need to but I just dont use it often. It still cuts great, but its an action malfunction, something with the assist mechanism.
Benchmade knives have always been golden for me.... I had 5 auto and 15 others flys and tacs Emerson orig combats and early Mel pardues..... They are great to deal with compared to others.
Jeff, I recently sent a Gerber Dime mini multi tool back the Gerber in Oregon that tgevplyersvwere broke. I got a brand new on and also in less than twon. weeks. Benchmade are also great used by b us military and worth every penny
Before you sent it in i figured they would replace all those parts. ive seen threads on this before on forums. they generally always re-sharpen them. even sometimes when you tell them not to. When they go in for service they get sharpened on a worksharp with blade grinding attachment. seems like its better than what they were using before. i dont think they use that for the production knives new. there service is on and off, good and bad. its probably better more often than not. but ive heard my fair share of stories people have shared with benchmade and they all sound some what similar so i doubt they are making those stories up. ive even heard people sending in to replace omega springs because they broke, then they broke shortly after getting it back. or them not fixing the problems they sent it in for (like they did nothing). im just annoyed with getting horrible QC benchmades brand new out of the box. i dont want to send them in for service. thats such a hassle. and when every benchmade ive got, its annoying. they are good knives, if only the manufacturing line included measures to avoid these problems. no matter the tooling or costs to do so, i think it would be a fine investment. i would buy more benchmades then. even to this day i keep hearing everyones qc issues with the benchmade anthem a 400$ knife. and why does every benchmade have to have an axis lock (just about everyone lol).
I've been to Benchmade factory. Very neat place. They sharpened my blue mini Griptilion to factory edge and did a nice, even job on ghe edge. If you're in Oregon, you need to go check them out. BTW, you have the best knife channel on TH-cam.
Wow that's great the company came through with there product that knive is guaranteed $ 20 bucks is not bad to have your knife fixt some people get attached to there knives they don't want another knife they want the one they bought senametal value to it
experiences like this makes me think its time to add a benchmade to my collection. i sent a zt0450 in for a blade replacement and my pocketclip was loose. i had some bad sharpening done locally and i didnt know they used a grinding wheel so they messed up the finish as well as rounded the tip. from me sending my knife to zt and them getting it back to me took about 5 weeks. i live in washington. i was so happy about that i decided to spring for a production zt0393. my spyderco pm2 and manix 2 also were victim to the bad sharpening. i know spyderco wont reblade but they might regrind and satin so i figured id have those blades modified by someone else. i was a huge spyderco fan but having to buy a replacement knife vs paying 30ish dollars for a blade replacement if accidents happen swayed me to switch to zt and now look at benchmade

I personally love Benchmades but I have had trouble with their quality control and I’ve had to send back 500 dollars worth of their knifes. I think that if a knife is quality u shouldn’t need to send them back that much. While they have good customer service, maybe it’s because there knifes are prone to problems. Spyderco is a much better company when it comes to quality control. So they don’t need a good return system because they have less problems. Just my opinion
I personally own 5 Benchmade 2550 mini reflex 2 are vintage made in 2002 the other 3 are new, Benchmade Mini Griptilian, and a bechmade bushcrafter. I love them all and have never had a problem. I purchased a spyderco delica and the thumb hole was sharp as hell I cut my thumb and rubbed it raw had to send it back. I thought they have the greatest quality control?

yeah why not test your freshly sharpened blade on some cardboard! wanna know how to get a freshly sharpened blade dull again? yeah just keep doing what your doing... omfg get a sheet of paper...
I tried to buy 2 benchmades this year and they both resulted in getting returned instantly for terrible QC. Each time that happens I go out and buy a ZT.
Barry Bueler I really want to like benchmade. I like their designs. I just ordered the 940 1501. I hope it works out. I've been carrying zt sinchevich's every day. 0452cf and the 0450cf.
Systrex same experience, never had a BM (3 total) that had QC in line with the price you're paying. Never seen a centered blade. The Fact was the worst with such a poor grind. Good to hear their CS is great though. I like their knives, but I'm pretty done with them for now.
i just wish they didnt use the axis lock so much on so many models. its a nice lock, but once you have one the rest of the knives are all the same, i feel less inclined to collecting more models.
Tactical Center Yeah, I wish they made lock backs and frame locks. I don’t trust those axis locks on any benchmade for hard use like sawing and batoning.
Nice, they almost did what i perdicted. My comment on last video was: "Good to see this test. Why do they need so many repairs?! For that kind of money repairs should not be needed

Good to hear the great customer service. Way better than the 8 weeks it took to get the last one I sent back in.
That is still a bargain for 20 bucks
I dont think they would actually charge you the $20 if it wasn't in pieces
thanks for this video Jeff!
I have a 590 boost. I want to send it in to get sharpened. Can I do it myself or do I need a vendor to do it?
I've bought three in the last year they were all perfect. Guess I lucked out, glad to hear about such great CD. They are expensive, want to support our work force. Thanks Harry

Because of how honorably they stand by their product, I will buy Benchnade next up, ty for this vid.
Jeff sending knives to benchmade from other addresses so he can get that free of charge treatment. ggwp
Benchmade rocks! I’ve always had a great experience with them. They will have me as a customer for life!

Great customer service 👍
Benchmade is awesome!
oh yeah?"
John Arnold gtfo
I sent my g10 grip in and it came back perfect, but my 710 came back worse. I'm going to send it in again and see if they can get it right.
very nice of them to do the rebuild free to you, seems like they have good customer service
So I actually ended up buying this knife from him, I have to send it back. It malfunctioned after about 2 months of having it. I have yet to send it back, I need to but I just dont use it often. It still cuts great, but its an action malfunction, something with the assist mechanism.
That's cool... worth the wait!
Beachmade is awesome!! I highly vouch for their service department. That’s why I keep buying their knives.
Benchmade knives have always been golden for me.... I had 5 auto and 15 others flys and tacs Emerson orig combats and early Mel pardues..... They are great to deal with compared to others.

I always received excellent warranty service from Benchmade and that's why I have several Benchmade knives.
Do they make them on a bench?
This is why I buy Leatherman and Benchmade. They stand behind their stuff.
I sent a my Benchmade in because the blade would come out sometimes and they replaced the blade and a few other things 0 charge! Benchmade is great 👍🏻
I know this has nothing to do with your video but I'm looking for a good quality kitchen knives for my wife, any suggestions? Thanks again
I've been to Benchmade factory. Very neat place. They sharpened my blue mini Griptilion to factory edge and did a nice, even job on ghe edge. If you're in Oregon, you need to go check them out. BTW, you have the best knife channel on TH-cam.
I had the omega spring break on a benchmade. I sent it in and got it back within 2 weeks.
God I love benchmade. I sell them at my work, it’s not hard to talk someone into a benchmade.
Benchmade totally deserve being propably the best knifebrand ever, never heard anything bad, their knifes are sick AND they did this 👌
Wow that's great the company came through with there product that knive is guaranteed $ 20 bucks is not bad to have your knife fixt some people get attached to there knives they don't want another knife they want the one they bought senametal value to it
Loved the videos since 08, Jeff.
Good shit. And this time done properly 👌
Great video Benchmade is great and the customer service is even better
Benchmade's customer service is great!
Wow glad i roll with Benchmade
Bench made is one classy outfit. Will be my next knife.
experiences like this makes me think its time to add a benchmade to my collection.
i sent a zt0450 in for a blade replacement and my pocketclip was loose. i had some bad sharpening done locally and i didnt know they used a grinding wheel so they messed up the finish as well as rounded the tip. from me sending my knife to zt and them getting it back to me took about 5 weeks. i live in washington.
i was so happy about that i decided to spring for a production zt0393.
my spyderco pm2 and manix 2 also were victim to the bad sharpening. i know spyderco wont reblade but they might regrind and satin so i figured id have those blades modified by someone else. i was a huge spyderco fan but having to buy a replacement knife vs paying 30ish dollars for a blade replacement if accidents happen swayed me to switch to zt and now look at benchmade
I started out buying spyderco and benchmade. I too became aware of variations between companies on blade replacement policies. This shifted me towards benchmade. I then learned of zt and their benchmade like policy of ~$30 blade swaps. It was all zt and benchmade for a while. I also got into CR 21's. They too swap blades, but like anything CR... it's not cheap.
I never plan on breaking anything. Accidents happen and look what happened to your knives! The blade replacement is great peace of mind and that is worth real $$$ to me.
i hope to add one of those to my collection one day
Take your time, there is no hurry. I would not have liked or appreciated the sebenza if I hadn't had so many other knives to compare it against. You should check out the Nick Shabaz video on diminishing returns. My cutoff point is definitely CR knives. $150-$300 has so many awesome knives!
im still in the $300 max range. it was $250 but im planning on getting a fixed blade made in a2 for around $300.
If benchmade is such a high quality knife company, why are so many people sending knives back for missing pieces or repairs. I've never had problems with KOA knives or TOPS. I live in Canada and I can not send my 581 Barrage in for warranty because Canada Customs will confiscate the knife. itscold u don’t need to be a fanboy. I said I luv my benchmades but I have had more problems with BM than Spyderco.
imake videos I wasn't trying to be a fanboy I was just stating I personally own 7 Benchmade a that don't have any problems and I buy 1 spyderco and it's fucked up. Just based on your comment Benchmade are prone to probelems and spydercos usually aren't. But in my experience it's the other way around.
you could have just ran some sand paper or a ceramic rod around the hole to champfer it. some of the models come with a less sharp edge. i dont think i own a spyderco thats sharp on the hole. its great you havent had any problems, or maybe you have some qc issues that you dont even know about... i havent a clue. lots of folks live with things that may qualify as a qc issue. a few of us have very high standards for the kind of money they are charging for a benchmade. its entirely possible you do have bm knives without any issues. its like a 50/50 chance the general public gets a good one.
Tactical Center so.... He should have fixed the Spyderco knife. But you have high standards on getting a good product for your money? So does he, but you are chastising him for it. Lol.
did you send the spyderco knife???
Spoiler, they sent it back completely dismantled and a letter saying fix it yourself ya putz... =P
Benchmade quailty, their knives are worth the sticker price.
lol, #FUKYAZ
Thats why ya buy a benchmade!!
That's a beautiful knife
They will send you free clips and screws without sending your knife in. Great customer service by Benchmade!
That's why I love benchmade
What voids benchmades warranty
I think it’s time that I get a benchmade
buy one in person so you can inspect it and make sure its without problems. else ask the online retailer (bladehq, gpknives, dlt trading etc... to inspect it for uneven grinds, off center blades, side to side blade play or up and down blade play and anything else that might be out of order. if they wont inspect it, go somewhere that will.
I never understood assisted opening axis lock benchmade knives?
I think most people who report "bad experiences" with Benchmade really just had unrealistic expectations.
Seems like a long time to wait
Nice usally if you take it apart it voids the warranty that cool
Brian Nicholas--- Nothing but knife reviews I've had them coach me over the phone on how to install custom scales and where to get a custom clip for their knifes. They are the definition of great customer service with common sense
Diego Salvatierra that is great service
I guess I won’t be blowing up my knives along with my Yeti cooler.
That's a great company.
I mean benchmade is prob my fav knife maker in the world
Thanks for the vid
Way to go Benchmade!
What?
Your response doesn’t make sense.
when you pay for a benchmade knife you are paying for the service and the quality.
Well.... it was sharp
Cool Jeff 😎👍😎
Jarren Lumpkin thanks for watching
John Arnold Yw you and Jeff must work together with your channels 😊👍
yup, the colonel is my main man
John Arnold cool Jeffrey is a pretty cool Guy 😎👍😎
yup we kick it all the time.
Very interesting!
LMAO!! Good luck with Spyderco!!
I'm glad they took care of that. I've contacted them to have my Infidel serviced yet they don't even get back to me.
Jonathan Ocasio all the info is on their website. Send it insured and you'll be fine. I've sent 5 benchmades so far, and all of them have come back better than when you first purchased them. Their warranty is the reason I buy mostly benchmades. Side note you can get up to 10 pocket clips per year free. Just email them
Love benchmade good company just like zippo
Cool now it's dull....
So the first thing you want to cut with a recently sharpened knife is a cardboard box?🙄
Gary Wixson unless it's zt steel it can handle carboard
You would have to include a sniveling complaint about box,.. Really lame
Not a fan of "locking" a knife.
yeah why not test your freshly sharpened blade on some cardboard!
wanna know how to get a freshly sharpened blade dull again? yeah just keep doing what your doing...
omfg get a sheet of paper...
Never liked Benchmade-
spydercos clips suck and they charge for a new one. lol
PEEEEEEENNNNNNSSSSSSYYYYYYYLLLLLLLVVVVVVVAAAAANNNNNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAA
I tried to buy 2 benchmades this year and they both resulted in getting returned instantly for terrible QC. Each time that happens I go out and buy a ZT.
Unless there fakes that’s bs
It's pretty known that benchmade Q.C has been slipping lately. Where have you been?
Barry Bueler I really want to like benchmade. I like their designs. I just ordered the 940 1501. I hope it works out.
I've been carrying zt sinchevich's every day. 0452cf and the 0450cf.
Systrex same experience, never had a BM (3 total) that had QC in line with the price you're paying. Never seen a centered blade. The Fact was the worst with such a poor grind. Good to hear their CS is great though. I like their knives, but I'm pretty done with them for now.
Systrex your so full of shit. Where's your video? Where's your evidence. Butt hurt ZT fanboy.
I think it would be cool if Benchmade combined an axis lock working with an frame lock.
Huh? You mean 2 locks? So you'll have to disengage the frame lock as well as disengage the axis lock to close it? Sounds awful
BornIn1500 Yeah I understand
i just wish they didnt use the axis lock so much on so many models. its a nice lock, but once you have one the rest of the knives are all the same, i feel less inclined to collecting more models.
Tactical Center Yeah, I wish they made lock backs and frame locks. I don’t trust those axis locks on any benchmade for hard use like sawing and batoning.
Now that is some good ole American customer service!
