This is my first leverless controller, and I went with it since all the more prominent brands need to justify the higher price point for what you are getting compared to the competition. The market is so new that companies are just coping with what worked. I went with s16, although my concerns were the additional buttons getting in the way. However, I'd rather have more options than fewer; the extra buttons don't get in the way. I also use this controller to play emulators on my iPad (I haven't tested it on the iPhone, but I suspect it works). However, one of its most underrated features is its size, which makes it easily fit in my backpack without occupying too much space. Although the downsize might be ergonomics, I have relatively small hands, so it's not uncomfortable. But if you aren't concerned about traveling, you can go for the more bigger T16. The G16 is a higher-profile version of the S16 but share the same size. For a first-time controller, it's worth the price. Especially since some of these higher-priced controllers may lack compatibility with other systems., this is an automatic deal breaker since you are paying $250+ for an outdated controller.
For the price of a single ‘high-priced’ controller, you can get 3 different Haute42 controllers/sizes. 265 dollars will get you an S16, M16, AND T16..and they’re all capable with a plethora of platforms…no contest. It’s a new era and Huate42 is championing it.
Doing research for a hitbox and came across your vid. I jus want to say how well put together this video is + editing. Also your music choice is SOLID. I need IDs for all the tracks you used, please. I as bumpin the whole time
I appreciate the kind words. The project file for this one is gone. Perhaps I can do a music-spotlight/showcase video every so often..or put it in the description; idk, we'll see.
Just bought mine a few days ago, super good, and honestly I got used to lever less way faster than I thought I would, so I’m already getting a bunch of use out of it. I still play with it in my lap like my lever, and I don’t think it’s as annoying as people say. Charge inputs are so much better 😩👌
If it’s a switch issue, any low-profile switch will work. amzn.to/3XE7s8G If it’s a cap issue, the caps on the S16 are 23.3mm with one BIG 26.6mm. At the moment, I have not found any caps in this size. However, 20.2mm with one BIG 25.3mm will also work. amzn.to/3XGzlwD
I totally forgot you can customize the RGB lighting on this thing, also something to add regarding the low profile switches and keycap design of this device, these allow you to slide and double tap techniques as you do them on hitbox with sanwa buttons which not entirely possible with other leverless controllers due to higher microswitches.
I really like the controller, but I really wish the "left" button was about 2 millimeters higher. My ring finger gets uncomfortable. I managed to make it a bit more comfortable by positioning the controller diagonally, but I still wish it perfectly matched my left hand. Might make a custom one or something.
Thanks for the review, I was looking for a leverless controller to by my first and feel it all but was hesitante to spend 200 dollars on it, just found the S16 while searching for discounts on the Snackbox Micro🤣. Found it for less than 50 bucks with shipping, that is much better to get started on a new layout of controller.
Subbed! Thanks for the quick dive into these, I've been considering picking one up! As an aside and friendly suggestion, back off your mic a bit to get rid of those mouth noises in your recording 😉
i had the same issue, i have small hands and my hands started straining cuz i had to keep my middle ring and pinky fingers stretched out every match, i loved the kitsune except for the buttons are spaced out more than a regular hitbox layout i feel the buttons were slightly larger as well
Thank you for your honesty. The S16 is comfortable on your lap if you're reclined. If you're an up right type player, you will have to get a folder, a book, or a Tupperware top. Or, check out the T16. I play, mostly, reclined and have an old planner binder that I bust out when I have to get serious.
I have ordered kailh ghost switches for my T16 and hope those will make it even better. I wish there was a T16 that supported more than just low profile switches and a set of Choc V1 compatible caps would be great too.
how do you have 15 subs , might as well sub with all my accounts lol . Your content is crazy good , especially the editing , keep it up man ! ( edit : got you to 20 subs : D )
Are there any preset profiles that you can just set without having to configure much? I ask because the main thing I care about is having L3 and R3 mapped to the two buttons next to up(the big button).
You’re in luck, that’s an easy map. R3 is already mapped to the right of ‘the big button’ so you just have to map the left one to L3 and you’re done. Open the Web Configurator.. Configuration > Pin Mapping > Set PIN26 to L3. Done ✅
Do the button caps come off easily? I've heard people saying their button caps would pop off constantly while they are playing. With something like sanwa buttons, you can slap hard on them all day without worry, so I'm still deciding.
No, the MAYFLASH Magic-S Ultimate Adapter is a brook alternative (half the price, double the features). There’s an EXT Port on the controller (00:00:39) that you plug in the adapter, then, the controller connects to your PS5 console. At the moment, there are no Haute42 wireless options.
With Haute42 controllers, yes, only wired. However, the MAYFLASH Magic-S Ultimate can connect wireless-capable gampads wirelessly. Ex. DualSense to Switch, Joy-Cons to PS5, Xbox to Switch, etc., all wirelessly.
If you play sitting upright, it’s not ideal. If you play laid back, it’s comfy. A table, desk, or a cutting board on your lap is preferable. I’d recommend checking out my video on the R16 and then seeing what makes sense for you. They’re both great btw.
Unless you have XS hands, you’ll be fine. As for lap-play, you’ll probably need a book or chopping board to play comfortably until you finish your setup.
i am more a fan of the m16, as it weights heavier and comes with a brilliant quality touch to it, but I guess we can all agree, that haute42's products are by far the best on the market. I dont see the point in spending up to 400 on "high quality" products such as Razer, or snackbox or hitbox.... it all comes down to the switches.. any other aspect doesnt justify the high prices. so no wonder why haute42 is getting so much good feedback lately
hi, nice video, i was thinking to buy the s13 or the g13.. ( same as s16 and g16 but less button)... i see the g versione have the w (up) button a Little bit more on the right of the s(down) button.... because i more used to wasd layout like keyboard and i don t think i will use the up input on the botton down button... Who is the more confortable to wasd for this situation in your opinion? Thanks ☺️
Great question. Both the 16s and 13s have up, down, left, right arrow buttons (WASD). If L3 and R3 are not important to you, then the G13 is a fantastic choice. I will say, if you did need L3 and R3, you can always set hotkey functions for them; for example: fn + B1 = L3 and fn + B2 = R3
i would argue a point though, S16 is undoubtedly faster by default, but on g16, if you change your switch to something like Kailh Speed silver, it can register faster without pressing too deep compared to regular red switches. im using it on my custom small leverless and it's been great. i like low profile switches but the i can't just justify the price. It's slightly less popular here, but i can get speed silver for half the price of Kailh choc v2 Red, so as long as that is the case i wont be switching back to it anytime soon. i would say if you wanna commit to leverless but have a little extra on you, get the T16. it looks more comfortable than the S16.
Interesting perspective. It's wonderful to see how different options can cater to individual preferences. Keep enjoying your setup, and thanks for sharing your experience!
@el_teqck so basically you connect the pad to the controller and turn on The PS4 console with the controller. Do you need to connect anything into the PS4 console ?

can you tell me after you set profile 1 and profile 2 pin mapping, then during gameplay, how do you switch to profile 1 or profile 2?
I believe this is what you’re trying to do. On profile 1, map a button to profile 2; then, on profile 2, map a button to profile 1.
What key caps did you find that fit the G16? Or is it the same struggle
Keycaps for the G series are way more available. 2:57
