    Did you also blow the radio fuse? I blew mine when my battery fuse shorted out

    Does your jump pack have a reverse polarity alarm? Some of them will detect reverse polarity as soon as you attach the clamps alerting you to switch them around before you turn the unit on. I also have the Viking lithium ion jump starter pack that won't let you jump the car if the cables are on backwards and it will sound an alarm when you press the engine start button.

    I did the same thing but my gas now I can't really pump and the car won't go over 0 miles per hour or so I'm just stuck I put the negative on positive and soon as I crank the car up I couldn't get any RPMs no gas to the ignition so I'm stuck I'm going to try this I hope it works but if it doesn't work I need you to reach out to me come up with a way on TH-cam to keep me informed of a 2009 Camry with that same issue for battery jumpers on the wrong way

    ok so i think my buddy hooked up his end wrong an i checked IOD fuse an others an no blown fuse but nothing inside works … did i blow a fuse or did he just steal my charge ? nothing works now but all the ones i could pull out looked clean an i can’t find any burnt wires it was a split second i turned my key ab everything went black

  • @lalypanco

    We did that in our 2014 Acura, check the fuse and nothing, suggestions?

    • @AnonX-jk3zu
      @AnonX-jk3zu 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Check all the main fuses under the hood 1st. If its not any if the other fuses then it could be a short in the wires somewhere. You will need a multimeter to start checking every connection to the fuse when you find the connection to the fuse that is shorted you will need to start probing down that wire until you find where its shorted.

      I'm late but what ended up happening. Usually first thing is to check the battery fuse

    I have a 2013 Suzuki grand virtara. A friend hooked the jumper cables up wrong. Now the dome lights won't work and the plug where you hook up to reset your oil light doesn't read. What could be the problem? Help?

    • @ProjectDIYNetwork
      @ProjectDIYNetwork  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ron Bess I'm a month late. But it probably is a couple of blown fuses. Or he could have damaged things on the circuit boards which would. Suck. Anyway. You've probably already got it fixed by now, but let me know what was the issue.

  • @cang1920

    I know it’s 5th old and I hope you could respond but does that mean my battery fuse is missed up as well?
    So what I did was slapped a battery charger o to my battery and it was on 12v 40amp boost and I went and cranked it and died on me.
    Does that mean it’s the fuse as well?

    • @ProjectDIYNetwork
      @ProjectDIYNetwork  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea. If you put it on reversed, you popped a fuse or two. If you have a battery fuse, check it/replace

  • @soldatheero
    @soldatheero 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    100 amp?? is that even possible

    • @ProjectDIYNetwork
      @ProjectDIYNetwork  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I can remember, the fuse said 100 on it, so I'm pretty sure whenever you short circuit, the amps increase massively. Especially with an already high amperage battery.

    • @soldatheero
      @soldatheero 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ProjectDIYNetwork ya your right apparently car batteries can output up to 500 amps it just surprised me because even in your house the entire panel is 100-200 amps but obviously way higher voltage. i thought i read a car battery is not dangerous but those amps certainly sound dangerous since voltage is irrelevant for fibulating your heart

    • @soldatheero
      @soldatheero 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ProjectDIYNetwork would it still be a short circuit if you only connected 1 of the cables to the wrong terminal and not both? I was boosting a car recently and i hooked up the dead car first (correctly) and then accidently touched the black cable to the positive on the second car that was running. just for a second

    • @ProjectDIYNetwork
      @ProjectDIYNetwork  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@soldatheero No. If you only connected one, you didn't damage anything.

      yep ...... made the mistake hooking up battery backwards ...... blew out the MAIN fuse 120amps ..... and also fried the alternator ..... fortunately the alternator could be fixed.
