Does the Ti Backspacer from RSD fit the new Bailout?

- Rock Scale Design has some great backspaces for the Bailout and Bugout! The question is does the backspace made for the original 537 Bailout fit the new 537GY-1 Bailout? We will tear it down and answer this question.

It looks great with the new back spacer. For the price point on these I think they should include a secondary back spacer.
That definitely makes the knife. I would even consider purchasing one .

I like that carbide glass breaker for marking material at work. I use it as a scoring tool and a punch etc...

Much is said about the price, and I agree, but REI members can currently get one for $200 with the 20% off. A little more reasonable.
While that pommel almost ruins the knife, doesn’t changing pommels and scales basically ruin the life Sharp warranty?
I feel $50 dollar on every BM alone goes into the life sharp. If they won’t honor it at best and actually keep your knife at worst, is it worth it?

What kind of finish is that on the backspacer? Aluminium blast or graphite black?
This one was the aluminum blast. I have a black one installed on a Bugout. Both work fantastic!!
Can I add G10 scales from the first Bailout on to my 537GY-1 Bailout?
Hi Zack. Do you know how the anodization holds up? I like the knife but am afraid that it would scratch real quick.
The backspacers I have installed have held up nicely. I have one spot which has worn off a little since it is where it makes contact with my hand all the time.

Just got the Critter Scales today. Pretty disappointed that it doesn’t fit with the factory barrel spacer and glass breaker. Now i need to wait and spend more money on a RSD back-spacer and lose my glass breaker. I am not happy.....
Yeah they list for the newer 537GY-1 Bailout you have to order the back spacer too. How do you like the scale pattern itself on the critters?
@@zachstuff I do love the pattern on the critters and the texture is very nice. Will be my weekend carry since I can’t have the glass breaker on it.

Any idea if the Bailout and Bugout back-spacers are interchangeable?
The ones from RSD are different based on the post spacing of the two different models.
Could you slip this backspacer in without taking the full handle off? ALSO, was/is there a washer in there? O.o my gen1 blackout had copper washers between the handle and blade
Yes they have washers between the blade and the liner on both sides. You probably wouldn’t be able to slip this in without removing one side of the scale since the original pommel and barre spacer have cutouts inside the blade to keep them in place.

great info! I am going to keep my eye one deals to see if I can find a good Benchmade I like. Love to have one custom but I dont work good on knives. Do you know a company/person that will customize knives?

It will not line up. But they make Bugout backspacers in the same material in their website.

No glass breaker. Just the titanium backspacer to replace the barrel spacers. I get what you meant now!
Nice mod, but the price exceeds the value and, even within the Benchmade brand, there are better M4 bladed knives and they cost less.
Still need to get a delete from rock scale really like the new Bailout they did great with the upgrades wish they had put more thought into the new Bugout Handel pattern

Does this backspace fit the factory scales?
The backspacer was originally installed on a 537GY with the black FRN scales.
I got a 3v model and just said fuck it and ground the pommel off.. lol looks fine I blasted it all to match
They’re sold out for some reason and I really want a black one.

They do have day jobs! They usually post all new stock on Saturdays and list that on their site. If you are looking for something specific, just email them. Pretty good usually!
