  • This is my fifth NH34 powered watch to pass through my collection so I am starting to get a good idea of what is out there - question is ... will this new Islander offering be able to compete at the top and persuade you to part with your $329 USD?

    unidirectional bezel makes it so that you can still safely use the orange london triangle as a timing bezel in an emergency

    I have already purchased 2 watches from Marc (I’ve never met him either….just emails on orders . I like buying from him because he is honest. Fine review! I’m a new sub. Looking forward to more of your content :-)

    Very fair and even-handed review. The bezel issue is a bit of an annoyance, but overall, I’m strongly tempted to make this my third Islander. I almost bought his Republic GMT a while ago - I’m glad I got wind of this and waited.

      Thank you, I was close on the Republic too - I think the world timer is more interesting so happy to have waited too. If you get it let me know how you get on 😎👍

    Great review, really like this. We'll done. I bought one of these, going to add it to my daily beaters for the office.

    Was about the pull the trigger on this watch. Then I realize it looks very similar to my Citizen ProMaster GMT World Time BJ7100-82E.

    Good video and fair review! Keep up the great content!
    I wouldn’t waste too much more time on the few who are concerned about “watch laws”. No one is claiming that Long Island Watch is making “Made in the USA” watches.

      Thanks mate, appreciate the kind words. Its definitely not on my priority list in the way that new watch content is - but I do always try to explore feedback as much as I can, sometimes makes for good 'casual chat' videos, even where I don't necessarily agree 🙂🍻

    Very cool . I think that's the best of the bunch at least for legibility .

    I had my eye on an Orient World Dial, but this one has better specs. It looks good on the wrist, too. Thanks for the review.

      My pleasure - the Orient is an interesting watch.... but I just know I'd scratch the mineral crystal as it's quite large piece of glass 👀

    This watch will inevitably end up in my watch box. It seems to be the same case as the "Ghost" Bayport I own, in which my only real complaint is that the bezel action is awful and absolutely useless trying to adjust in water. As a small wristed person, I like the 3 micro adjustment clasp as it doesn't take much space on the wrist. The Flightmaster influence is so cool!

      Small clasps are really underrated. Thanks for the comments 🙂 👍 🍻

    Wonder if it could be 100m WR and a tad slimer. I think my build is around 12mm.

      @nextonthewrist  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the caseback definitely adds a couple of mm on this piece 🙂👍

      You can search long island watch or islander watches it pops straight up - I don't like to link directly as I have no affiliation with the brand... links tend to lead people to think otherwise. 🙂👍

    I don't know the laws in the great big north, but here in the USA it is the law to be marked with country of origin somewhere on the watch.

    • @nextonthewrist
      @nextonthewrist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry but without written law I can check don't believe you are correct. No US based watch brands are doing this that manufacture abroad - look at Timex as a great example... My waterbury chrono is made in China but is not marked so. No idea of laws in the great north either, I'm too new here and not a lawyer 😆

      @@nextonthewrist Check the small print on the dial, or now they put it on the inside case back.

    • @nextonthewrist
      @nextonthewrist  ปีที่แล้ว

      So I have both watches, caseback off in front of me. Timex has the wording 'case China timex ar' - the movement in the Timex is an Epson Japan so I guess that's why...the islander just has some factory codes not China wording anywhere. I'd be keen to learn more on the requirements for this, whilst I really don't personally mind where it's made if it's a good watch, and Islanders have always been great for me - you have got me curious about this topic. I'll try dig a little deeper and find a definitive answer. Feel free to hit me up on the email in the contact details on TH-cam if you have any more specifics 🙂👍

    I wonder when Mawk will start putting "Made in China" as required by law?

    • @nextonthewrist
      @nextonthewrist  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Which law exactly?
      I'm not familiar with the topic but have not seen any microbrands include this nor larger brands too... so would be surprised if every brand manufacturing in Shenzen, which is most of them at this price point.... were all taking an illegal path.
