@@WeeLassReacts Yeah, that's understandable. I was just redoing this one because the original sank to near the bottom of the thread for some reason. Sorry if this looked off in any way. Hope you're feeling better. BTW.
Yeah. And they fought in the portal reality, too. The terrible part is, she's going to remember both. (A Certain Character at one point gets memories from the two realities confused and someone else reminds them which was which, proving that the memories carried over.) King Micah's final line is so much more devastating in hindsight, too. Everyone leaves him before he can say anything.
“You made your choice. Now LIVE WITH IT!” Adora has had it with Catra’s BS, and I love it. RIP Angela, she deserved to live longer and to guide Glimmer more.
I always found it to be kind of a crappy attitude from Adora given the extremely privileged position she's always enjoyed. It's easy to say "just make good choices" when you've been set up and supported to do so your entire life.
@@brine7432 Catra was traumatized and abused in ways Adora wasn't, but Catra has been actively choosing to harm Adora and the whole world, and Adora can't try to save Catra at the expense of herself and everyone else. It's less about "I expect you to fix yourself" and more "I won't keep trying to save you".
@@brine7432 you can’t save everyone. You can try and help them but if they don’t want to be saved, you can’t do anything more than that. Adora was privileged, but she tried to help Catra so many times. Of course it’s easy to say “make good choices” when you’ve got support, that’s true. But Catra is actively throwing away all forms of support she’s ever had in desperation to obtain support she will never get. And when she’s denied it, rather than accepting the privileges that she’s been afforded, she hyper fixates on what she never got rather than what she has. She decided since she never got something others did, she and everyone else needs to die for it. Catra wanted to do things on her own, but if she wants to do that, she needs to accept the bed she’s made for herself. Adora was privileged yes, but she also suffered in a different way. Adora was able to admit she was wrong and realized that the “support” and “privileges” she had was not worth it. She gave it up, and risked a lot for it. Catra in a way is privileged cuz she can take the leap to better her life without worrying about danger, and she chose not to. What you’re saying is reminiscent of nearly every abuser to exist. They are hurt and they hurt others, and after a while they can no longer hide behind “I was hurt”. They need to help themselves, and they can’t expect ppl who tried to help them to hurt themselves in order to save someone who isn’t trying.
@BelBelle468 You misunderstand. I'm not talking about "support" like Scorpia or Bow's "I like you and I'm here to talk!". What I mean is that Adora left the Horde and SW's immediate reaction was to send an entire platoon with tanks to go rescue her. Adora openly opposed the Horde and SW's response was to try and capture her alive and bring her back to reset her back to their side. Adora deserted the Horde and because she's the magical chosen one, she has the singular capability to fight entire armies by herself and is a week later, also welcomed into every kingdom and respected by every Brightmoon leader simply by virtue of being She-Ra. Adora is really textbook Mary Sue. Catra leaving the Horde would simple be abandoned to her own fate. Catra turning against the Horde would become kill-on-sight. Catra deserting the Horde would be met with suspicion and distrust by every other nation on the planet, because she isn't the super special magic chosen one. Catra having to fight means mortal peril because she doesn't transform into a seven foot mystical hulk warrior that can casually destroy tanks. It was extremely easy for Adora to make good choices. She did not have to face any sort of actual danger or consequence for turning traitor to the Horde until way, way later. Even before she left the Horde she was presented with brand new important role of authority with an easy pass to get into everyone's good graces and bypass her role in the Horde, on top of her natural charisma, amiable nature, and a childhood that did nothing but encourage her to try anything and get along with anyone. What risk did she have? Being hurt by Bow and Glimmer (lol)? Being locked in pillow jail by Brightmoon? The completely ineffective forces of the Horde fighting against She-Ra? Adora failing means -others- who are already fighting, get potentially hurt or are disappointed. Catra's risks aren't being a disappointment or other people getting hurt, They are other people getting hurt and then being executed for being a disappointment. Catra isn't hyperfixated on "what she never got rather than what she has". Catra has almost nothing to begin with. She's only not a powerless cadet because she got Adora's job. She's only alive because Adora liked her enough to keep SW in line. She only rose in rank because she was willing to play dirty and throw SW under the bus or exploit Entrapta's abandonment. She had Entrapta as an asset only briefly before Hordak scooped her up. All she "has" is Scorpia, and Scorpia is great and all, but she's also not much more than free hugs and heavy lifting. People focus on Catra's emotional roadblock in making the choice to follow Adora and completely miss the logistical ones. Adora left a cushy position at the Horde to start an even cushier job where her biggest struggle is "I don't really know hot to do this job, but it doesn't even matter because I am the only person on the planet capable of doing it, so even failure just means letting people down and not fixing problems". Catra has a dangerous, high pressure job with constant threat of death that she could leave to make good choices and become... absolutely no one? A no-name Horde traitor of no importance just surviving in a land that doesn't want her and where the skills and values she's picked up over a lifetime a struggle are considered reprehensible, but is allowed to stick around because she's Adora's glorified pet. I'm not blaming Adora, or claiming that Adora shouldn't just cut ties. But Adora is speaking from a place of complete and total ignorance. What I am saying has nothing to do with abusers, what a weird ad hominem. I'm just pointing out that the situation here is akin to a wealthy, white college student who is going to inherit an international company and lavish estate lecturing an abused, minority, foster kid turned petty criminal and drug addict about making choices. Like, yeah, you weren't responsible for them turning to drugs and yeah, you're free to leave and they need to turn their life around, but also: f*** off, your entire life was handed to you on a solid platinum platter. Don't lecture people about consequences when you're a chosen from birth messiah bound for greatness no matter what you decide to do, whose choices and activities ARE actively making that person with no good choices available's life even harder.
Now's when things have gotten really messy: - Horde Prime has entered the plot - Catra is on the express train to rock bottom - Adora finally played the Uno Reverse - Glimmer lost her remaining parent - Entrapta is in exile - Mara intensifying
Look carefully at the two robots at the sides of Entrapta at 8:42. They are the robotic versions of Scorpia (on the left) and Hordak (on the right). So, even if she preferred to have robots around her, she did not forget of the two people she considered as "friends".
Remember in Moment of Truth, when Angella is flying towards Glimmer, calling to her as she teleports with Shadow Weaver and the Princesses, and there's focus on Glimmer's face and really smooth animation as she dissipates? That's the last time they saw each other in the real world, and they parted in animosity. Glimmer's going to have a lot to deal with next season. I mean, they all do. But especially Glimmer, who is the best character.
That is only technically true, because Glimmer does remember the events from the fake portal reality, so her actual last interaction with Angella was of her apologizing to her mother. That doesn’t really make it any easier to deal with, though.
You’ll be happy to know that Catra finally dies in season 5. It was kind of hilarious, honestly. Adora insults her new haircut and she’s so taken aback that she loses track of her footing and falls to her death.
It wasnt long into the show that I had stopped shipping Adora and Cattra, and these two episodes convinced me there was no way they could change my mind. In the end I was wrong but it came as a big suprise.
Just remember, no matter how bad this show wrecks you, there is one truth the show has been telling you over and over from the beginning. "We're gonna win in the end!"
Not gonna lie, that was what got me the most curious. Like, somehow, everything keeps getting worse when it really feels like it can't get any worse. But they keep promising that they're gonna win in the end. Like, How!? I need to know!
@@joelpartee594 Yeah, that version was for the season 5 trailer. Obviously don't watch that trailer before you've watched through season 4, but its a solid version of that song.
On the point of Entrapta's portal-reality being nothing but 'bots - you can see Scorpia and Hordak 'bots in the back of Entrapta's intro to this episode - she still (even if sub-conciously) remembers those few people who she DID form that real connection with, and who formed that connection with her :)
angella's sacrifice was definitely one of the scenes that made me cry the most in the whole show. that "take care of each other" AAAH god. AND THE WHOLE THING WITH MICAH, it’s so tragic
One of the most satisfyingly cathartic punches in all of media, and I'm so glad they didn't shy away from it. Catra, I love you as a character, but you being punched in the face will always be a highlight for me.
If you listen carefully, you may be able to faintly hear GlaDOS’s voice in one of the worlds the portal opens to, it’s subtle and in the background, but it’s there…
I love how well structured the show is: This is the halfway point, so here's where the big cast shake-up happens, this is where the direction of the show shifts, and this is where the Catra/Adora relationship reaches its nadir.
tbh i love catradora, but i can understand your pov at this point of the story. i really love catra, but i'm so glad adora stood up to her like that. tho you have to keep in mind that they are not together right now, they're not romantic, so it cannot be a toxic relationship (or even friendship), because they're in fact enemies at war against each other at this point of the story, so they are going to hurt each other. a lot. but yeah, their character dynamic is so complicated, it’s not simple with a history like theirs, but it’s fascinating
There’s a log of “wtf” surrounding these two episodes so here’s the best explanation I have. If ND has said otherwise then feel free to correct me because this is all basically head canon as far as I can tell. In the beginning the “false reality” created by the portal device seems to be Catra’s perfect world. Maybe because she was closest to the machine or because she pulled the switch. It’s tough to say. But it’s definitely hers because in this world Shadow Weaver isn’t abusive, Adora never left Catra, Scorpia respects personal space, and even the other soldiers seem to give Catra more respect. Adora starts to see through the false reality because, (A) it’s not HER perfect world and (B) She-Ra Magic nonsense. When things start disappearing from the false reality it’s important to remember they are actually destroyed retroactively. So Scorpia doesn’t just vanish, Scorpia now NEVER EXISTED. It’s also important to notice that strong emotions seem to help people see the truth of the false reality. Scorpia’s feelings for Catra bring her out of it and we see Lonnie have a similar moment when she realizes Kyle and Rogelio are gone. This brings us to a few weird points. 1. Glimmer’s perfect world. When we finally catch up with Glimmer it looks like she’s living her perfect world. Two loving parents and her pal Bow all chilling in Bright Moon. Some people think the portal created a perfect world for her somehow but what ACTUALLY is happening is that the whole Horde was just erased from existence. So now there was never a rebellion. So no battle for king Micah to die in and no war for Bow to fight. That’s why Bow is now a librarian. It’s what their lives would be without the war. 2. Crazy Void Catra. Why did the portal devour everything else but Catra just gets a new villain look? This one is… yeah there’s not a great explanation. Again Catra was at the. Enter when the Portal machine turned on and the whole false reality seems to be built off her fantasy of a perfect world so perhaps that connection makes her more resilient to the destabilization that’s happening or maybe her desire to simply not lose is strong enough in this place to keep her going. Or crazy portal Magic nonsense. Also the real king Micah isn’t dead. He was turned into a fish and has been living in one of the many water features in Bright Moon castle. There. A real spoiler to balance out all the head canon stuff.
I wouldn't really call that reality "perfect" for Catra (albeit still better than the actual reality,) because she still isn't fully emotionally honest (she hesitates when Adora asks if ruling the world is what she really wants.) ND has described this as Adora being focused on fixing things and finding a solution (which is generally something she does, but now something actually really needs fixing,) while Catra is focused on hiding and isn't ready to face what she's done. For Catra, it's supposed to represent "sort of an escape to the last time things made sense to her, the last time things were simple and the last time she was happy." ND seems to consider this Fright Zone both Adora and Catra's reality.
Notice how Swiftwind wasn't in the fantasy world, and how right befote Micah disappeared, he called to Angella and said "Im not--" This is because Micah isn't dead. He was tranformed into a horse, which She-ra coincidentally gave the power of flight and speech. He spent so much time as a horse that he could no longer remember his human life until the fantasy world put him back in his original form. This is why Swiftwind has such a strong sense of social justice. On some level, he remembers what it's like to be a sapient being and he wants that for his horse brethren.
Can you guys stop giving away such huge spoilers ?? This is one of the best plot twist of the series. I m surprised the mods still havent deleted your comment.
All right, time for the big start of the heavy-hitting episodes of the series! Wonder if we'll get a Catra No this episode? >.> 1:00- Mosco is confident this episode won't get to her. Mosco, I'm glad you feel confident in yourself at the beginning of this episode. >.> 2:20- Mosco is hit by the first big twist of this episode. :P 2:45- Mosco realizes how wrong she was. Me: Mosco, now grab those tissues and Hamish! 3:10- Mosco: "When does this show get happy? Never? Okay. So we're done with Shera" This seriously might be one of my favorite reactions to this episode. I'm a big fan of the show going the "If you really know us, then tell us something only you would know" without really forcing it out of Adora. Its something that comes more naturally to Adora because she does know them and care about them so much and this is how she views each of her best friends. 15:00 -Mosco: "Adora, can you just kick her ass, please?" 16:32- "You made your choice. Now LIVE WITH IT!" followed by the trademark punch!
Angella's sacrifice is one of the most heartwrenching scenes of the whole story, but wait till they finally unlock the portal and let her and Mara out again! The reunion is a gutpunch!
Obviously, this is a big, emotional episode for a lot of reasons, but specifically for Adora and Catra's relationship. Ever since leaving the Horde, Adora has hoped to convince Catra to come with her, to make things right between them, to get her to understand why she left. Now, in finally standing up and saying "I didn't make you do anything!" she's realizing she can't help her. It's gotten so bad between them that she's done reaching out to her, she knows Catra has to be the one to help herself now.
Exactly. If only Catra would have done any amount of emotional work. But this is an excellent example of cutting out toxic people from your life. And Catra is very, very toxic.
Don't worry about Queen Angella, she's just traveling the multiverse. Her new world has her keeping Horde Prime on a leash and gag, it gets big laughs in Season 5.
Was that episode real or not? I remember some weird dream like episodes happened due to the after effects from the portal; like Bo being dressed as Hunter Thompson from 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'. Though, "we can't stop here, this is cat country" is one of my favorite quotes from that season.
I always interpreted those dream-like moments as some multiverse things/details mixed with their own traits/memory's/mannerisms. Like the one where Shadow Weaver is dressed like Perfuma and they braid each other's hair with daisy's. We didn't know Shadow Weaver had green thumbs before. And I just love hearing SW say "those are daisy's, I think they're lovely".
Can't wait for you to see Space Hordak's top henchmen. Adora's biological siblings Shedric and Shemira who has a weird habit of calling Adora glove but it turns out to be for a fairly cute reason involving their dad Shelador.
“You are all the things that are wrong with you. It’s not the alcohol, or the drugs, or any of the s***ty thinks that happened to you in your career or when you were a kid, it’s you. Alright? It’s you.” -Todd Chavez, _BoJack Horseman_
What Micah was trying to say was ‘Angela I’m still alive’. And it’s safe enough to tell you that because I know you already past the point in the story when that is revealed. And that makes Angela‘s decision that much more heartbreaking when you actually know it Also, there is a theory on the Internet that madam Razz, Might be Angela, because Razz, seems to know both Mara in Adora’s time, and Adora in Mara’s time. Plus, they have the similar colouring palette
Think about how bad Adora mental was when she left the frightzone and made real friend's she had no she had few social skills, was hot head, obstinate and could not relax to save her life, she was a child solider raised to fight and kill on command, Imagen how bad it was for Catra in the same boat as Adora but not as well treated. this does not excuse her actions at all but it does shine a light on them
"Take care of each other." That has to be the most heartbreaking moment in the show. Also, Adora standing up to Catra was so incredibly powerful and satisfying. This entire time, she believed she deserved Catra's wrath because she 'abandoned' her and broke their promise. Catra, projecting the way she was raised by Shadow Weaver, readily blamed Adora for everything, even when it was her actions. It was so satisfying seeing Ador a finally call her out on it.
Angelica pops around the multiverse for a bit until she comes back into the world. Only it's been centuries for her, her body was charged, and she's never sure what time period she was in. She decided to change her name from Angelica to Razz.
I love Catra as a character. She’s my favorite. That said, seeing Adora finally stand up for herself and give Catra what I consider to be the most cathartic punch to the face of the series is… *chef’s kiss* I love the writing because obviously we see the tragedy here. We see why Catra is making all these choices. We get it. But Adora doesn’t deserve all this vitriol and we want her to break free from all the guilt placed on her for what is ultimately choices that Catra keeps making. “I didn’t break the world, but I am gonna fix it. And you - you made your choice. Now live with it!” Ugh! It’s so good. And that final look between them, where it’s clear that there are no more chances, no more Adora trying to convince Catra to come with her. Catra’s dug this hole herself and she’s the only one left who can try and climb her way out, if she even can. I keep saying it but it’s so good man.
I love the trans representation that glimmer's mom and dad are both trans. It did feel a bit forced to reveal it after both of their deaths but still I'll take the win.
The season 3 finale was a big one. I started off decently liking the show, and then the show really picked up with season 3. When I finished watching the season 3 finale for the first time before going to bed, it really stuck with me, and I couldn't wait to watch more episodes. Good stuff
This episode impacted me very deeply when I first saw it. So much that I wrote a long-form fanfic, set post-season-5, as a way on untangling those feelings.
While it's admittedly quite vague and open to interpretation, I don't think the 'Catra' we see in this episode actually _was_ Catra. Based on how it acted; what it said; I think it was a manifestation of Adora's self-doubt. Everything it said was very specifically targeting Adora's deepest weakness - her tendency to take responsibility for literally everything - while not expressing any real motivation of its own. Catra knows how to hit Adora where it hurts, sure, but I think she would've had more to say than just laying the blame for everything on Adora. My take is that either that wasn't Catra, or it was a _fragment_ of Catra; all the worst parts of her, with any goodness stripped away (the latter is supported by the fact that Catra is usually positioned with her blue eye most visible when making good/healthy choices, and her yellow eye more prominent in the shot when making bad/toxic choices - and this 'corrupted' Catra's blue eye was entirely consumed by darkness). Also, one interesting detail about Entrapta: yes, it appears her 'perfect' reality is her being surrounded by only robots - but, in the shot where we first see here (8:41), the robots we can see most clearly bear a striking resemblance to Scorpia and Hordak.
i also think this theory is correct, at least in part, also because corrupted catra was aware of things that normal catra shouldn't have known, like the fact that adora came through a portal from another world. technically catra never knew about this information, yet she uses it against adora in this episode. like, how does she know?? did the portal give her some extra knowledge somehow or was it not actually catra and it was in fact a manifestation of adora's self-doubt through her? i mean, catra is also the perfect person to represent adora's doubts, because we know adora feels guilty in part for leaving catra behind and up until that point she does think she's at fault for why catra's behaving that way (after all Shadow weaver always raised her to feel responsible for catra's actions). so yeah, i think your theory makes sense
@Alfwin. I like your take, but I am still on the fence about who is "real" here; as far as I can tell, Adora is the only person who is actually the same in both universes. But what the others are, I still can't figure out - are they figments of Adora's imagination? Of Catra's? The script is (and perhaps, intentionally was written to be) extremely vague on this point. To go out on a limb here, what I think Corrupted Catra is, is a manifestation of Catra's id, the Catra who acts out her unfiltered fear. (If you've seen "The Owl House", think a more sinister version of "inner Willow".) So, in a sense, I suppose I am going with the "fragment of Catra" option. One thing that I wish people would NOT do, though, is confusing this universe with the Etherian reality. I think Mosco (and about 90% of this comment section) make a grave error by conflating the two. Catra is very scared and selfish in s. 3 (and beyond) but she's not this person.
@petercoo9177 i think the other characters in the alternative reality are also real (like, it's actually them being transported in this different reality, but their memory is altered) because 1) they all remember their actual lives after a while and 2) in the next episodes [tiny spoiler ahead but pretty irrelevant] there are other characters mentioning what happened in the portal reality (for example lonnie and kyle). So I think they are all real somehow, tho not exactly the same people (until they remember). It is like they've been reprogrammed to suit catra and adora's dream reality. I like the last thing you said about portal catra vs actual catra and how portal catra is the manifestation of catra's unfiltered fear and anger. And at the same time I think she could also be the manifestation of adora's fear, doubt and regret, because I believe that the portal reality responds to both catra and adora's subconscious (which mean they also respond to each other).
@@etheriankid Thank you for taking the time to write out a well-crafted response. I could write a very long, involved counter to it, but I suspect YT comments section is not really a good place to post essays (although I know that doesn't stop some people!) I can make an all-too-short "hand-waving" response, though. I think I should state one or two (or three) things first: (1) I think She-ra (2018) is a GREAT show, the best writing for animation I've ever seen on (for want of a better word) "TV"; thanks to all the gods for ND Stevenson, he did such a good job. (2) That said, I was really unhappy with this episode. i think in this case, the writing was really weak, and asked too much of us in the "suspension of disbelief" department. In some other espisodes, when some plot problem or other presented itself, I was able to just wave it away, and move on an enjoy the episode. But not here, for me the chasms are just too big to throw down an plank (or large stone pillar, ha ha) and walk across. (And to even *begin* to present the case for any of this is where the essay would come in!) (3) Sigh. Yes, I have to admit that must be rght in your first thought - there must be some, at least, of "normal"-Etheria Bow, Glimmer, Angella, etc. in the characters in "alternate" Etheria. But how? Where do the memories (of Adora, in the case of B & G) come from, when they start to remember her? How is this communication occurring? On the other hand, if they are themselves, why did they forget her in the first place? None of this is made clear; we are, i suspect, supposed to believe that they're "Schoedinger's Etherians" both in a state of awareness and non-awareness of the "real world" at the same time. Ages ago (months before I saw this, Mosco's, video) I watched the much later (in the She-ra timeline) video that I think you are alluding to above, the one with Lonnie and Kyle. Even at the time, that conversaiton *really* bugged me; if the portal reality never happened, why does Lonnie remember it? But if it did happen, why have we still got all those characters (basically, everybody BUT Adora), who just "faded away" as their reality came apart? So many questions. 😉
This episode and the previous one cement Catra as an irredeemable villain. Fortunately, I love villains. I don't think she's girlfriend material for Adora, but watching her slide further and further into evil is enthralling
Every time i watch Five by Five takes video on watching She Ra I rewatch She Ra… then i get to this episode. I cry. And stop watching 😂 The pattern repeats
@@joelpartee594, you're right. I kinda forgot about that part. Though to miss out on the shorts would also be to miss out on Adora/Swift Wind banter, and that's a crime.
Actually, depending on the reality , it could be Braniac, it could be The Brain, it could be Skeletor, or maybe even Mumm-Ra (who it turns out is actually She-Ra’s father… they share the Ra surname)
I'm not entierly sure that Entraptas version of reality is her ideal world, since at that point, the portal had deteriorated quite a bit, so her part may already have started to fray, but if it _was_ then I think it represented her living entirely without the anxiety around social cues. Robots are easy, they don't get offended, they think in simply binaries, they are uncomplicated. It takes away the confusion that Entrapta often seems to face with human conversation
I also read that the voice actress of Catra was starting to have doubts about catra and her part in bringing the character to life with her voice. The Creator had to convince her to continue over and over again
now for 2 seasons of Adora being haunted by Angela's ghost as she slowly spirals. Horde prime is such an amazing red herring. Like it starts with a hard furious look from Adora towards Catra, but as her mental state deteriorates her actions escalates until in the season 4 finale she goes too far and season 5 the remaining alliance, not just sans Adora, has to try and stop her.

Yeah. And they fought in the portal reality, too. The terrible part is, she's going to remember both. (A Certain Character at one point gets memories from the two realities confused and someone else reminds them which was which, proving that the memories carried over.)
King Micah's final line is so much more devastating in hindsight, too. Everyone leaves him before he can say anything.
“You made your choice. Now LIVE WITH IT!”
Adora has had it with Catra’s BS, and I love it.
@BelBelle468 Exactly - trauma and pain can only justify so much for so long
@BelBelle468 You misunderstand.
Now's when things have gotten really messy:
- Horde Prime has entered the plot
- Catra is on the express train to rock bottom
- Adora finally played the Uno Reverse
- Glimmer lost her remaining parent
- Entrapta is in exile
- Mara intensifying
Look carefully at the two robots at the sides of Entrapta at 8:42. They are the robotic versions of Scorpia (on the left) and Hordak (on the right). So, even if she preferred to have robots around her, she did not forget of the two people she considered as "friends".
Well, I guess you’ve already guessed what Micah was about to say.

"I no longer ship them!" - Wee Lass 2023
Fun fact: Razz is voiced by Grey Griffin, the voice of Azula and Masha, which absolutely caught me off-guard, given how different the voices are.
What. WHAT. WHAT?! o.O You gotta be kidding m... - I just looked it up and it's Grey Griffin alright. What the sh*t. What can't this woman do? 😲
@@rhokesh4391, give a bad performance, apparently.
Grey is amazing!
I did not know that, but I love that Grey got a chance to do something different.
Grey is fantastic, both as an actress and a person who'll send personal apologies via DM when she realizes she's messed up.
Btw, Adora touching foreheads with Glimmer is like passing Angella's kiss onto her ❤ anyway EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
Aurë entuluva! Day shall come again!
Not gonna lie, that was what got me the most curious. Like, somehow, everything keeps getting worse when it really feels like it can't get any worse. But they keep promising that they're gonna win in the end. Like, How!? I need to know!
Also, everyone should find the version of Warriors sung by AJ "Catra" Michalka. I believe it was a promo for Season Five.
@@joelpartee594 Yeah, that version was for the season 5 trailer. Obviously don't watch that trailer before you've watched through season 4, but its a solid version of that song.
@@emilymarriott5927 (There's also a full length of that version of the song on TH-cam with no visuals and no spoilers)
"I no longer ship these two"
Yep, definitely agree with that!
Catra getting decked in the shnoz at this point was so dang cathartic
On the point of Entrapta's portal-reality being nothing but 'bots - you can see Scorpia and Hordak 'bots in the back of Entrapta's intro to this episode - she still (even if sub-conciously) remembers those few people who she DID form that real connection with, and who formed that connection with her :)
angella's sacrifice was definitely one of the scenes that made me cry the most in the whole show.
that "take care of each other" AAAH god. AND THE WHOLE THING WITH MICAH, it’s so tragic
It’s so sweet 2 of the robots that entrapta made look like Scorpia and hordak cuz they’re her closest friends and she subconsciously remembers them
Now that Shera has finally gotten over Catra we can introduce my favourite character and OTP Dogra
Baby Glimmer admiring a mural of her Dad is so precious 🥺
I thought I'd seen this episode enough times that "Now I choose to be brave" wouldn't hurt my feelings, but here I am wiping my eyes on my sleeves...
"I feel confident that I'm not going to cry"
Me: Oooooh noooo 😢
tbh i love catradora, but i can understand your pov at this point of the story. i really love catra, but i'm so glad adora stood up to her like that. tho you have to keep in mind that they are not together right now, they're not romantic, so it cannot be a toxic relationship (or even friendship), because they're in fact enemies at war against each other at this point of the story, so they are going to hurt each other. a lot. but yeah, their character dynamic is so complicated, it’s not simple with a history like theirs, but it’s fascinating
I wouldn't really call that reality "perfect" for Catra (albeit still better than the actual reality,) because she still isn't fully emotionally honest (she hesitates when Adora asks if ruling the world is what she really wants.)
ND has described this as Adora being focused on fixing things and finding a solution (which is generally something she does, but now something actually really needs fixing,) while Catra is focused on hiding and isn't ready to face what she's done. For Catra, it's supposed to represent "sort of an escape to the last time things made sense to her, the last time things were simple and the last time she was happy."
ND seems to consider this Fright Zone both Adora and Catra's reality.
“I didn’t think she would make this self-sacrifice this early” 9:26
*Me thinking she’s gunna make a bigger self sacrifice at the end*
Notice how Swiftwind wasn't in the fantasy world, and how right befote Micah disappeared, he called to Angella and said "Im not--"
This is because Micah isn't dead.
Wow seriously….this is supposed to be fake spoilers….we don’t learn about the Micah Swiftwind paradox until the penultimate episode….of next season.
@@richardbrown3055 - I still don't know how I feel about him choosing to stay a horse.
Especially after they brought Angella back.
Can you guys stop giving away such huge spoilers ?? This is one of the best plot twist of the series. I m surprised the mods still havent deleted your comment.
@@kyramika1777 I know right? Micah being swiftwind was truly the biggest plotwist.
All right, time for the big start of the heavy-hitting episodes of the series! Wonder if we'll get a Catra No this episode? >.>

Mosco, I'm glad you feel confident in yourself at the beginning of this episode. >.>
2:20- Mosco is hit by the first big twist of this episode. :P
2:45- Mosco realizes how wrong she was.
Me: Mosco, now grab those tissues and Hamish!
3:10- Mosco: "When does this show get happy? Never? Okay. So we're done with Shera"
This seriously might be one of my favorite reactions to this episode.
I'm a big fan of the show going the "If you really know us, then tell us something only you would know" without really forcing it out of Adora. Its something that comes more naturally to Adora because she does know them and care about them so much and this is how she views each of her best friends.
15:00 -Mosco: "Adora, can you just kick her ass, please?"
16:32- "You made your choice. Now LIVE WITH IT!" followed by the trademark punch!
Mosco: OH NO
Everyone else who knows what happens: OH YES
Angella's sacrifice is one of the most heartwrenching scenes of the whole story, but wait till they finally unlock the portal and let her and Mara out again! The reunion is a gutpunch!
Gut punch indeed. You guys hurt my soul😭😭
Gut punch indeed. You guys hurt my soul😭😭
Adora transferring Angella's kiss on her forehead to Glimmer's right at the end there 😢😭
Micah is just the previous life of Swift Wind.
You can see the resemblance if you look closer
19:54 (Sigh) and Behold, the aforementioned Putz……
Don't give her false hope that's worse
@@Giran_0 Who said it's false hope? 😏

Shadow Weaver adopts Glimmer and actually becomes the best mother.
This episode hurts every time. I have rewatched this show countless times and every single time, this episode brings me to tears.
Me openly: "I love each of the characters in She-Ra equally"
Me in private: "I don't care for Angela."
how DARE YOU she best girl
What Micah was trying to say was ‘Angela I’m still alive’. And it’s safe enough to tell you that because I know you already past the point in the story when that is revealed.
And that makes Angela‘s decision that much more heartbreaking when you actually know it
Also, there is a theory on the Internet that madam Razz, Might be Angela, because Razz, seems to know both Mara in Adora’s time, and Adora in Mara’s time. Plus, they have the similar colouring palette
Glimmers dad. He DID get consciousness right at the end. I wonder what he was saying...
Hes trying to tell Angela that he has re-incarnated as swift wind.
I just realized that Micah woke up right before he disappeared! He was about to tell Angelica that he was alive!
Think about how bad Adora mental was when she left the frightzone and made real friend's she had no she had few social skills, was hot head, obstinate and could not relax to save her life, she was a child solider raised to fight and kill on command, Imagen how bad it was for Catra in the same boat as Adora but not as well treated. this does not excuse her actions at all but it does shine a light on them
The finale made me fucking SOB
Like its rare i cry over a cartoon show but this finale BROKE me
16:30 I'm surprised that this moment in the show hasn't been turned into a gif yet.
So damned satisfying.
15:40 this is what I always say! Enemies to lovers ships never feel right with me, because of this
Don’t worry, it gets happy... after it rips your heart out Mortal Kombat style.
Friendship? FRIENDSHIP!
I just realized that when the portal reached glimmers dad, he was trying to tell his wife that he's not dead because his memories just appeared
If you pay attention to the gem in the sword in upcoming episodes you can see it forshadowed that Angela is in the gem.
10:18 She didnt get "bombdrop" here, I was like "wait a minute he just said...?!" 14:42 ahhh yes, the most Bone-chilling "Hey Adoraaa" ever!
RIP Angella, 😭 long live the queen.
I love the trans representation that glimmer's mom and dad are both trans. It did feel a bit forced to reveal it after both of their deaths but still I'll take the win.
In ep 3 of season 4 catra actually becomes the moon with cat ears
I could write a very long, involved counter to it, but I suspect YT comments section is not really a good place to post essays (although I know that doesn't stop some people!)
I can make an all-too-short "hand-waving" response, though. I think I should state one or two (or three) things first:
(1) I think She-ra (2018) is a GREAT show, the best writing for animation I've ever seen on (for want of a better word) "TV"; thanks to all the gods for ND Stevenson, he did such a good job.
(And to even *begin* to present the case for any of this is where the essay would come in!)
(3) Sigh.
😉

Here's a warning for infinity train, one episode in every season has made me cry so prepair for the episodes of sideways Infinitys
Micah didn't say "I love you" he was going to say "I'm not dead"
Glimmer goes on a murder spree, putting the FRIGHT in Fright Zone. 😈
Yes, I cried when Kyle died.
Yeah, this is where i was just "how tf is Catra supposed to come back from this???"
I loved Adora punching her lmao
This finale is where Catra loses any chance of being properly salvaged
@@roo1014 hard disagree on that.
This episode and the previous one cement Catra as an irredeemable villain. Fortunately, I love villains. I don't think she's girlfriend material for Adora, but watching her slide further and further into evil is enthralling
hope you learned that you should listen to people when they warn you to have tissues 😂 because we all have been there.
Every time i watch Five by Five takes video on watching She Ra I rewatch She Ra… then i get to this episode. I cry. And stop watching 😂
The pattern repeats
It sounds like the thing to do is to watch Seasons 4 & 5 by themselves next time. There's a lot there.
Oh, you thought this was going to be a walk in the park, emotionally? Behold, Glimmer's long dead father,ya shoulda listened!!!
Catra get better after she loses her 8th and 9th life
I really like the visual design of ghost Catra after she's summoned up from Hell.
@@joelpartee594 Kinda wish the design stuck
fudge this episode get me every time😭
I wish you good health and enjoy the fourth season. One of the most FFrustrating, funny, sad, and inspiring pieces I've ever seen.
Possibly my favorite Season - before the disastrous disappointment that is S5
@@roo1014 Ikr I hated s5 sm🙄
@@roo1014 Season 5 is MILES, LEAGUES better than 4. The best season of the show, and best way they could have ended it
@MellyMelon1331 I disagree. All the more power to you for having enjoyed it, wish I could have done too.
Idk which season is best but 4 for sure is emotional roller coaster @@MellyMelon1331
There are shorts that take place some time near the end of Season 2, and they're referenced in the main show with the line "you're a terrible actor".
It still works without the shorts, like Adora's performance as a triple majeur.
@@joelpartee594, you're right. I kinda forgot about that part. Though to miss out on the shorts would also be to miss out on Adora/Swift Wind banter, and that's a crime.
Without Angela they'll be in twice as much trouble this season.
Hordak's big brother is obviously Braniac, and this is where the crossovers start.
Actually, depending on the reality , it could be Braniac, it could be The Brain, it could be Skeletor, or maybe even Mumm-Ra (who it turns out is actually She-Ra’s father… they share the Ra surname)
They're in trouble and make it double?
@@MacTechG4 Catra is actually a long lost Thundaran, so she and Adora continue to be star crossed.
@@ThAlEdison and when you break down Catra’s name…
She-Ra
Mum-Ra
Cat-Ra…
Hmm…Ra?
;)
9:58 I know my mom definitely would. We lost my dad about a month and a half ago. I think she would give anything just to see him again.
You silly wee Las... just because there's no pie, doesn't mean you aren't going to cry
The last three eps of s3 are like a triology that I watch all the time
Obviously way too late for spoilers but I only just now made the connection with what Micah was about to say and...ow
You're now halfway through and the best is yet to come.
I like her character but she is a very bad person for 98% of this show.
Yeah, I think she was wondering if Catra will ever be happy and he was encouraging her and she was like "yeah, suuure."
@@kitkami
More like 70% of the show.
@@Carabas72 Nope 98%. There is 1% at the very start and 1% at the very end.
@@kitkamiyou know that is not true. Why double down?
now for 2 seasons of Adora being haunted by Angela's ghost as she slowly spirals. Horde prime is such an amazing red herring. Like it starts with a hard furious look from Adora towards Catra, but as her mental state deteriorates her actions escalates until in the season 4 finale she goes too far and season 5 the remaining alliance, not just sans Adora, has to try and stop her.
He said, "I want stay behind."
