The way to analyze this episode is it's basically a What If story. It's Catra essentially trying to hide from what she did by proposing "Well what if things were better? What if we were happy in the Horde so Adora doesn't leave?" The problem is that she and Adora still aren't on the same page about why Adora left and why Catra stayed. And the realization that Adora will always leave, without understanding what drives her to do so, sends Catra completely over the edge.
It's a really interesting version of alternate reality/dream bubble - kind of like a smarter and more ambiguous version of Beverly Crusher's Shrinking Enterprise - but it definitely does not belong 100% to Catra, although she is the primary architect of this corner. Scorpia being so ready to break out of Catra's perfect world is really interesting to me. There seems to be at least three tiers of awareness - Catra seems oblivious to the unreality but also seems to be getting everything she wants, Scorpia seems to have some self-directed character (my current theory is that she is unhappy and hostile because this is a reality in which Catra has so completely rejected her), but then Shadow Weaver seems like she's been completely taken over by Catra's fantasy version of her.
@@joelpartee594 This alternate reality can change people's perception, but not their personality. Shadow Weaver like to be nice to people that are competent or that she wants to manipulate. Now it just included Catra in that list, so there's nothing wrong to Shadow Weaver's point of view. Scorpia likes to be friendly and invades people's personal space. Since Catra's don't like that, Scorpia is now compelled not to be like that. But this makes her unhappy.
@@arturferrao7353 I'm really glad it's never spelled out clearly within the show. There's clearly room for multiple interpretations, and above all we don't lose sight of the thematic priorities, like Catra's "stay with me" and Adora's "I need to fix this".

This episode got complicated and deep. It's turbo charged compared to the other episodes. I liked your spray bottle reference. I mentioned that in my comment for your Catra nooo reaction. This is getting VERY interesting. I can't wait for your next She-Ra reaction.
Don't know if you've watched the season 3 finale yet but, while not going into any spoilers, I will admit that it actually made me cry. Twice. I just hope Hamish gets overtime pay.
I love the Timey-wimey bits of this show, that Mara is actually the reincarnation of Adora from the reversing of time as a side effect of the portal, so Adora has spent all this time trying to figure out what she will do in the past, in a future life.
lol the mix of shows you're watching right now(TOH, Infinity Train, Shera, etc) are just...wonderful. But, also dangerous for mental well-being. Remember to take breaks and take care of yourself whenever needed! The fact that a 'portal that alters reality' is what it takes to actually get a version of SW that is even remotely nice to Catra seriously says a lot. Razz-Ma-Tazz-Ma-Jazz! This is what I'm calling Madam Razz from now on. lol Scorpia: "Woah! Ever heard of personal space? I happen to take it very seriously." Yep, I gave the screen that exact same look Mosco. :P Something I really appreciate about this episode is that it's one of the few episodes where we get a better view of how close Adora actually was with Kyle, Lonnie, and Rojelio(the lizard one for clarification). We see Adora getting the surprise cake, joking with them, worrying about them when things start to break apart, and trying to save Lonnie as they're attempting their escape. I also love this episode because it does a good job of further showing what Catra wants, how badly she wants it, and how much she's mad at herself and her situation but she instead chooses to aim that anger at others, specifically Adora. I love Catra as a character with how complex she is, but yeah, can't really defend her very easily at this point. lol Also, as always, thanks for your reactions! They're a real treat to watch!
this ep is how catra want thing to be perfect for her. she willing to live perfect life for second and died in it more then go black to thing in real world
I love both views, catra wants to stay in the past with adora but adora wants to see a future with catra and I lovee the details in the show that prove this OMGG I love this show sm
This episode is so much like the Star Trek Next Gen episode where Doctor Crusher is stuck in a pocket dimension that keeps shrinking that it's uncanny.
Hurts seeing Catra in the portal world wanting everything to be better and Adora to stay instead of leave her. Even though it never will be better and be the way she wants 😢
I love the continued study of Catra in these episodes. Catra is asking Adora to stay, but in the memory, we see it was always Adora trying to hold the two of them together. Adora begged Catra to come with her, and Catra refused. For all her insisting that Adora "stay," Catra was the one to leave Adora. Catra is wracked with guilt but cannot admit she's wrong. So her psyke is at odds, making her lash out. It's sad how anger can make people so self destructive.
Eh, it was definitely Adora that left Catra at the start of season 1. Adora made it very clear she was leaving the Horde regardless of whether Catra came with her or not. That is the reason why Catra refused to come with her - Adora was treating Catra as an afterthought, and the only reason Adora even asked Catra to come with her is because Catra **happened** to be there. If Catra hasn’t been there, Adora would still have left the Horde. That is why Catra saw this as Adora breaking the promise and abandoning her. Catra is also not wracked with guilt…yet (that will change soon).
@omegastar19 Nah. At the time of Catra's attack on the village, Adora had not decided to leave the Horde. She was initially a prisoner, then just trying to figure out what was happening to her. She had not left anything at that point. It was seeing the happy villagers being destroyed by the Horde that finally flipped her, and she was scared of leaving the life she knew. She asked the one person she cared about to stick with her, to come with her. And Catra balked. Catra left Adora, she broke their childhood promise because she didn't understand Adora's change. Of course, in her view, Adora is in the wrong, but that's the point. Catra doesn't accept fault or consequence. During this episode, they cut back to their promise, and then Adora begging her to come with her. And it's Catra's flashback, not Adora's. Catra is not processing the guilt, but she realizes she was the one who broke the promise. And she deflects her anger onto Adora.
@@arellajardin8188 yes, Adora saw the Horde attacking the innocent civilians and *that* as where she decided not to go back to the Horde. *then* , after she has made the decision to leave, she is confronted by Catra and asks her to come with her. But the problem is this: Adora had not expected Catra to be there. In fact, the only reason Catra was at Thaymor is because Shadow Weaver panicked over Adora’s disappearance and overreacted by sending the entire Horde army out to look for her.. If Catra had not been present at Thaymor, *Adora would still have defected* . Hence why Adora’s attempt to get Catra to come with her comes across to Catra as belated, as if she is an afterthought to Adora, and not important to her. Catra is not feeling guilt, she is feeling abandonment (note how she immediately fixates on Bow and Glimmer as the perceived reason for Adora’s defection “You’ve known these people for what, a few hours, and now you’re giving up everything for them?” - she thinks she is being replaced as Adora’s friend). This is also why she goes completely crazy in season 3 - her abandomnent issues, already reinforced by Adora abandoning her in season 1, get massively triggered because Shadow Weaver *also* abandons her in S2E6. As for the flashbacks, I do not agree with that interpretation at all. There is nothing to indicate that Catra feels guilty in this scene. Rather, Catra remembers the promise…and then remembers Adora breaking the promise and abandoning her, prompting her to snap and attack Adora.
Adora ends up dying but after shands at meeting with the goddess Siri I like the creator of Assyria who ends up bring her back to life when she comes back down from the heavens to brightman basically she sees catra crying because she lost her girlfriend and that's my fake spoiler for you I came up with that right on the spot so I'm sorry if it sounds a little weird
I'm really looking forward to this season's finale, I always forget this season was so short: we really get to see everyone come to some emotional conclusions. The absolute comedy of Adora having to interact with Glimmer and Bow is fantastic, Razz is as cryptic as ever, and that Catra monster is terrifying. I do also love how much Angela gets to feature in the finale, since we hardly ever get to see her interact with anyone other than Glimmer. I really enjoy that Angela gets to see how mature Glimmer is and see how much Glimmer is supported by her friends: her decision to abdicate and allow Glimmer to become Queen of Brightmoon to help the Resistance fight the Horde as a front-lines kind of leader is really touching. Angela holds a special place for the remainder of the series and it's so out of this world impressive.
@@lorettabes4553 (the joke is that it's vague: you only think it's spoilers because you've seen and have context; what seems to be specific could just as easily be entirely fake and vice versa.)
It was interesting to see how in Catra’s perfect reality, she wasn’t in charge of anything. It was Adora that was the force captain and she was happy for her. She just wanted Shadow Weaver and the others to be nice to her while she had Adora by her side. But that’s NOT how things are so once Catra remembers she’s back to her majorly fucked up headspace and it clearly isn’t stopping any time soon 😭

I am warning you in the next episode of the show it is one of the saddest episodes for the characters and big things happen you will most likely cry for episode six
I think it's just to find Catra unforgivable from S1E2 on - she is actively and (unlike Adora) knowingly complicit in war crimes. She chooses actions that lead directly to civilians being harmed and displaced. Morally, she has earned incarceration and no one should risk themselves to save her or offer her a second (third, fourth) chance. I can accept this show because (unlike the more grounded high fantasy of A:tLA) the tone keeps one foot in a sillier make-believe where everyone is actually just a high school student having heightened drama.
@@omegastar19 The biggest mercy a soldier like Kyle can claim is that like Adora in S1E2, they didn't know what was going on. Catra makes it clear she saw through the propaganda and chose to disregard the lives of everyone else on the planet (and, eventually, all of reality). Entrapta is pretty damn close to Wernher von Braun. Scorpia is clearly a collaborator - we see her being aware of what the Horde did to her family, although she never quite admits it out loud. Catra is arguably worse since we see her directly ordering and participating in raids on non-military targets, and she is presented with a clear opportunity to be given amnesty by Bright Moon - something Scorpia may have never believed in.
@@joelpartee594 I would argue that Catra did not, in fact, see through the propaganda. The issue lies with your assumption that Catra’s awareness of the Horde being evil would lead her to assume that the Horde lied about Brightmoon and that Brightmoon is therefore not evil. But that is not how Catra has learned to see the world. Catra is an abused child. She was abused by an authority figure, and she has no examples of other authority figures that treated her nicely or did anything to stop the abuse. Therefore, from her perspective, all authority figures are evil. And as these authority figures worked within the framework of an organization, that organization is, by extension, also evil for allowing the abuse to take place. And by this logic, Catra would see *any* organisation with authority figures as evil. And this includes Brightmoon. From Catra’s perspective, due to the hostile environment and the abuse she suffered as a Child, she views the world as an inherently evil place. She has no examples that would indicate otherwise (Adora doesn’t count because Adora is not an authority figure). Catra might not be as naieve as Adora, but she is definitely just as ignorant about the rest of the world as Adora is. It is very difficult to see through propaganda if that propaganda is literally your only source of knowledge, but even if Catra did see through it, that wouldn’t lead her to conclude that Brightmoon is actually a nice place, because, from Catra’s perspective, the world is not a nice place.
@@omegastar19 That's a very good point. I was thinking more narrowly about the propaganda of "the Horde does not attack civilians" which Adora seemed to believe and Catra seemed not to believe. Catra seemed capable of recognizing the immorality of her actions in attacking Thaymor, that's really all I was trying to say about her seeing through the propaganda. It's certainly possible to look at the roots of Catra's actions and feel sympathy for her, but for me that's not the same as whether or not she is culpable of the crimes she committed.
Ah love could you and I conspire To shape this sorry scheme of things entire Would we not shatter it to bits and then Remould it nearer to our heart's desire

Also I completely feel ya. I just screamed CATRA NO/CATRA STOP trough the last episode
I LOVE THIS EPISODE SO MUCH~!!! Tiny Baby Catra is just so fucking *PRECIOUS!!*
This is the beginning of Catra's decent into madness, and madness as you know is a lot like gravity, all someone needs is a little...PUSH!
12:50 This is also why Scorpia suddenly respects personal space.
Next episode will have nothing bad happen, the world will be saved and everybody will live happily ever after. Certainly no tissues needed or anything like that!
Funny how it's the two Princesses in the Horde base the notice something's wrong.
Promise and Childhood are such powerful songs for the biggest plot turning points
I love the Timey-wimey bits of this show, that Mara is actually the reincarnation of Adora from the reversing of time as a side effect of the portal, so Adora has spent all this time trying to figure out what she will do in the past, in a future life.
Just make sure BAE is with you for the finale when it comes and you're there for her when Gravity Falls ends.
BTW, creepy lil vampire guy is imaginatively named Imp. I also call him Littlest Brother.
13:00 Is that what's called a Princess Carry? 👩🏼🤝👩🏽
"And in this episode, we see the wild Moscoe experience what it's like to take hard drugs . . ."
5:59 Razza Matazza Majazz.😂
14:41 Netossa has entered the chat
This is one of my favorite episodes I’m so glad your watching it
I looked forward to you reaction to this episode Mosco. The key to understanding is listening close to Entrapta.
When we discover EMILY the robot's secret plan it's gonna blow your mind!
If mosco continues to do "aggressive arm movements", by the end of the series their arms are going to be ripped af
i wasnt ready for all this yet...
lol the mix of shows you're watching right now(TOH, Infinity Train, Shera, etc) are just...wonderful.
This is what I'm calling Madam Razz from now on. lol
Scorpia: "Woah! Ever heard of personal space? I happen to take it very seriously." Yep, I gave the screen that exact same look Mosco. :P
Something I really appreciate about this episode is that it's one of the few episodes where we get a better view of how close Adora actually was with Kyle, Lonnie, and Rojelio(the lizard one for clarification).
I love Catra as a character with how complex she is, but yeah, can't really defend her very easily at this point. lol
Also, as always, thanks for your reactions! They're a real treat to watch!
this ep is how catra want thing to be perfect for her. she willing to live perfect life for second and died in it more then go black to thing in real world
One more episode, and you're half way! XD
omg this episode
I love both views, catra wants to stay in the past with adora but adora wants to see a future with catra and I lovee the details in the show that prove this OMGG I love this show sm
Their relationship is so cute and funny
Glimmer's daddy and mommy issues warning! Cuddle the coo. Hug the Highland Coo.
I am so happy I found your channel because of the skittle squad
4:02 12:30 13:23 14:25 17:02
This episode is so much like the Star Trek Next Gen episode where Doctor Crusher is stuck in a pocket dimension that keeps shrinking that it's uncanny.
🖖
Roscoe halfway for this reaction I don't think you're prepared 😭😔
9:21 okay, shrek, calm down! =P
Can we all agree that Kyle is too precious?! We don't deserve him
And the episode where he gets his... moment... just slays me. Every. Single. Time.
Just cuddle the coo for the next Shera episode. Trust me.
It's amazing how long Catra can run on pure hatred and determination.
Just like The Spot
Took her just over 4 seasons before the gas tank finally emptied.
Hurts seeing Catra in the portal world wanting everything to be better and Adora to stay instead of leave her. Even though it never will be better and be the way she wants 😢
4:33 you realise something’s off when Shadow Weaver is genuinely nice to Catra
Catra’s a cat, she has 9 lives
I really love your reactions ❤
Hold Hamish, in the next Shera is sad.
The next season of She-Ra is sad.
Oh my god. I just realized. Did Baby Catra have a triangle tail?
YAY!!!! ANOTHER SHE-RA EPISODE!!!!!!!!
Adora was mourning Catra because she couldn't save her again T_T Also good luck with the next episode
Anyone who's watching along: be careful of spoilers in this comment section. Go watch the finale :)
Mosco hacked that - she has requested (and been getting) fake spoilers along with real spoilers, so anyone reading the comments can never be sure...
Ah... next episode is going to hurt.
Love this videos!!
Uhm. I hope she's seen the finale already cuz this has spoilers
"I DON'T CARE! I WON'T LET YOU WIN! I'D RATHER SEE THE WHOLE WORLD END THAN LET THAT HAPPEN!"
Hello Adora
Early gang!! (Within 30 mins)
3:58 - I am sorry, I had to rewind like 2 times to understand that you weren't saying 'Did they collect her c** '
Usually I am not that bad with accents but oh my, this one was way too weird.
This episode could just be titled Catra no.
Hiiiii! I love ur vids
I can't believe I'm first 🩷❤🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🤎🖤🩶🤍
This was probably one of the worst episodes to go in emotionally vulnerable from Infinity train doing it's thing. Luckily it's all uphill from here.
I am warning you in the next episode of the show it is one of the saddest episodes for the characters and big things happen you will most likely cry for episode six
That's right, it's...
The Death of Loo-Kee
Well i don't know if you've seen the next episode but you'll see why I can't forgive catra even tho everyone else does
I think it's just to find Catra unforgivable from S1E2 on - she is actively and (unlike Adora) knowingly complicit in war crimes.
@@joelpartee594by that logic all the Horde soldiers, as well as Scorpia and Entrapta are all unforgiveable as well.
Catra breaks reality because she cant have the perfect life with the girl she *doesn't* like.
Thats pretty gay 😅
Ah love could you and I conspire
To shape this sorry scheme of things entire
Would we not shatter it to bits and then
Remould it nearer to our heart's desire
You Better Be Prepared For Season 4, Cause It's Not The Best Season. 😢
I don't understand anything
Tbh the finale is one of the reasons I don't like Catra
At this point I was so done with Catra's shit.
Us when she said “wouldn’t it be crazy if Adora WAS Mara?” : 👀get ready for the next few seasons Mosco
Mara is Adora's daughter.
