Double Trouble is very mercenary. If they do have another motivation, I'd say it's mostly the thrill of the performance. The fun of being able to fool people.
There is something else though, and we see it already here. Getting into character is not just about fooling the audience, it’s about intense empathy for the character, and DT is definitely motivated by that empathy (in unpredictable ways).
The reason Adora doesn't want Glimmer in the field isn't because Adora cares about Glimmer's queenly duties. It's because despite Angella's last words actually being "take care of each other" what Adora's dumb hero complex brain heard was "take care of Glimmer" and so now Adora has started treating Glimmer a bit like Angella did in the early episodes, babying her & trying to shield her. This will obviously have no negative impact on their relationship...
In the scene where Adora wonders how Catra got out of her cage, I thought of the meme about the cat saying if my head goes through, the rest goes too 😂😂😂
The clue to look for to identify CatTrouble is that they’re not affected by catnip, where Catra is, also, the spray bottle threat doesn’t work on them…
I love the way they revealed DT’s shenanigans too, when Adora pulled the “is that a mouse” trick, and DT didn’t react, honestly one of the funniest moments of the season lmao
Double Trouble is just so chaotic and we all love them for it. I love the fact that a non-binary character was just casually introduced as part of the main cast. The writers of this show always write good characters first and foremost and don't just use parts of their identity as their defining traits, but they also treat those traits with the utmost respect.
i mean, can you really make a male/female shapeshifter? usually a shapeshifter is non-binary/gender-fluid because they change all the time, they don't have one really asigned at birth, and even if they have one asigned at birth they end up changing it (loki for example)

Double Trouble is such a theatre kid and I love them. Every moment they're onscreen is a delight, and with how heavy everything has been, they're nice bit of levity. Also, I really love the dynamic between Huntara and Perfuma. Interactions between characters you'd never expect to see interacting are great. I also always love the desert town settings. There's a lot more variety to what you can do with them than a lot of people think.

The trick is that they spread their roots out very far to maximize the amount of water they can collect from even brief rainstorms. Of course, that's just what I remember about Mojave Desert cacti. Other cacti species from the other deserts from around the world can be different. The Cacti in South America collect subtle amounts of moisture from dew amidst the driest desert in the world.

Huntara gives me the vibe of someone who is only interested in more casual relationships, at least at the moment. She was flirting with a barmaid earlier and it feels like they're trying to imply here with some of their looks and touches that she and Grox have been a thing in the past. Perfuma is basically a hippie, so casual could work for her.

I have been waiting SO LONG and so excitedly for you to finally see Double Trouble! Also their height is a teeeeny bit inconsistent throughout the show (same with nearly everyone) but there’s some character sheets online that show each character’s height compared to She-Ra so that’s a good reference (Mermista was kind of exaggerating when she said She-Ra was 8ft tall lol)
